Let's imagine how the Dark Eldar's fluff would be different if their psykic vampirism doesn't feed on pain but pleasure while still maintaining their villainous nature. For those having trouble understanding how this might work, their idea of how to get the pleasure they need to feed on is not through acts of benevolence and alturism, but by doing things like kidnapping innocents and hooking them up to a life support system that constantly stimulates their brain's pleasure centers.

Isnt this something Slaneesh cultists would do? Maybe have them as members of the eldar race that when slaneesh was borne (because of the big eldar orgy that birthed Saneesh), were not consumed and have been feeding he/her ever since with their hedonistic lifestyle?

I'm not sure GW would be onboard though, as trying to get soccer mums to buy an army of sexual perverts for their little Timmy would be quite difficult.

It might make more sense to practice some sort of catch and release. Not out of altruism, but practically speaking same intensity of stimulation on the same captive population would provide diminishing returns. So they'd either need to keep ramping up the stimuli, or cycle the population that is being stimulated.

If they are still just as villainous, does that mean that the Dark Eldar would still engage in the same cutthroat politicking with each other? This would mean that the primary pain they inflict would be on each other (and more incidental to the politicking).

How's that "thought experiment" going, OP?
Pretty fruitful, huh?

You turned up, so it's not entirely fruitless.
