The average bloodletter can only dream of being as strong as a felguard or even a wrathguard, the Legion doesnt simply desintegrate after being summoned, their heavy hitters like Felreavers and Spaceships are vastly superior and larger than your average demon engine, eredar casters are at least equal to tzeentchian sorcery, pitlords and doomlords are about equal to bloodthirsters and dreadlords are infiltrators and manipulators similar to the Changeling, just with vastly superior numbers.

I just asume they eventually met some grimdark fate and New Tanith never got to happen, while Gaunt either died on the line of duty or got to retire to either Balhault or Vervun

Okay but corruption in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay is a huge fucking deal though. It's hard to resist unless you're a dwarf. In Dark Heresy you don't even get a chance to resist it most of the time, you just get corrupted. In both games it can quickly spiral out of control and lead to physical mutation or debilitating insanity. The best defence is usually to avoid anything that seems to be radiating evil as much as possible.
