Insurance Insurance 13, Identity Loss Insurance, Ring of Minor Magic
Repeat for each incarnation. This is ~7 incarnations where I will keep my identity. ~7 incarnations for researching magic. If I happen to become immortal in my next or next next reincarnation, then buy Immortality Insurance instead of Identity Loss Insurance.

Hmm...
>Toss It x3
I know myself well enough to know I wouldn't trust some random envelope. After a few more weeks of the same letter, though, I'll begrudgingly open it and then get wowed.
Let's see here... I start with 15 MA.
>Loss of Power Insurance x10 (-10 MA)(5 MA left)
Going all-in on this.
>Identity Loss Insurance (-2 MA)(3 MA left)
>Geas Insurance (-2 MA)(1 MA left)
>Curse Insurance (-1 MA)(0 MA left)
Alright, I now have an assurance that I won't lose my identity, cannot be coerced into a task I can't complete, and receive commensurate blessings for any curses I undergo.
Now, for the gift.
>A Professional Reference
That's right. I plan to wheel and deal with the pit. First things first, I'm quitting my job and dipping into my savings. I have enough piled up to live for two years, which should suffice. I will spend the next several months drafting a meticulously detailed contract, with every word and term extensively defined within the document. This contract will propose that I get a stack of magic equivalent to what I possessed in my past life, in exchange for an equivalent duration of servitude, herein defined as tasks of proportionate value pursued and accomplished for Azezal, Beezle, and Shultz. Given the sheer, heinous ambiguity of what they could demand of me, I've no doubt it would go over well.
The contract will be as airtight as I can make it, but will feature several amateurish mistakes which would, in theory, allow an overeager fiend to revoke my magic outside the bounds of the contract's stipulations whilst retaining my utter servitude. This isn't to say a clause in the contract, but rather, a gap in semantics that they could take advantage of without written backing. The way I see it, this is a win-win.

>Insurance insurance 15
Hopefully after like a hundred incarnations of this humanity cures aging and I can take immortality insurance. Everything else is worthless for now.
>Stamp of Approval
Could be profitable.
>>
>>97892087
Either ABS honors the contract and I get magic to thereby pursue immortality in exchange for a lifetime of work, albeit obscene, or the fiend's evil nature prevails and it revokes the magic without a legal basis, thus triggering the loss of power insurance and I am then set. The other insurances grant me a bit more wiggle room. Now, I'm under no delusions that this isn't insanely risky and foolhardy, but I think this is the most feasible route to regain magic within my lifetime. Who knows? Maybe my hackneyed legalese and performance can impress my benefactors enough to get me a job.

>Geas Insurance
Arrange a cult based on on restoring magic, apotheosis, cursing me, and various fringe schemes to defraud using the wills and commands of the members and rules.. They will leave wills that arrange for me to carry out various missions. Some might die before their time.
>Loss of Power Insurance x10
If possible, I will just have someone take my ring off unprompted and see if that triggers it. Going forward, I will use any magical related things I defraud out to go into this to pump me with more magic.
>Identity Loss Insurance
Will protect from any insanity resulting from being artificially pumped with magic and give me an out to any identity crises later.
>Curse Insurance
Using curses arranged by the cults and defrauding the know how to cast, I can use this to exploit mental alteration curses the most in tandem with the Identity Insurance.
>Ring of Minor Magic
Pivotal to abusing with Loss of Power Insurance and hopefully able to be examined and studied to recreate effects when I am imbued with magical energy.
Would have been nice to have another gift since their is a lot of synergy there for fun stuff.

Reincarnation fraud
Geas Insurance: -2
Loss of Power Insurance:-1
Identity Loss Insurance:-2
Curse Insurance: -1
Monster Insurance: -1
Insurance Insurance: -8
A professional reference
Well then one of the first frauds I can have as a backup plan is incarnation, trough the power of Identity Loss Insurance, I will keep my memories trough my incarnations as I recover my identity for any reason that I lose my identity, and memory loss from reincarnation definitely falls into this. With this I can abuse Insurance Insurance to get a new complimentary gift each time. But even if I don’t well I got a pretty good form of immortality going.
Then we have power insurance in case I gain any powers trough items or further dealings to keep them in my future reincarnations.
Now I took Geas Insurance specifically for dealing with the demons in A professional reference they will 100% scam me, so well they get compensated for it, I don’t get the bad secret contract clauses it’s a win win. Professional reference is probably the most powerful option and the most dangerous one but it has the most potential.
Now for the curses, it specifies intentionally incurring the wrath, but what if I did not incure the wrath of a demon and just willingly accepted being cursed? Well then it should trigger and I am sure I can buy some curses from the professional reference.
Monster insurance in case I get something like a whistle of monster summoning in my further reincarnations or maybe even summon something via the professional references. Then I will be able to exchange regular stuff into magical objects. Picked it just because of possible price hikes in future insurance.
Trough enough cycles or reincarnation I am sure a solution will be found and at least all of those repeated insurance time freezes and potential complimentary gifts might leach in enough magic. But the demons will probably provide a faster solution.
>>
>>97891990
>Insurance:
Loss of Power Insurance (10)
Monster Insurance (2)
Geas Insurance
Curse Insurance
> Item
Whistle of Monster Summoning
Obvious synergy between Monster Insurance and the Whistle. While they don't HAVE to listen to me they still might if I ask nicely enough. I could potentially have a monster set my whole house on fire.
The other idea is to have a monster (demons and fey should be good for this, alternatively I can try to use some of the other magic flowing into this world) hit me with a curse (technically Curse Insurance is only invalid if I have them curse me out of anger, so if I just ask nicely I'd technically be good), which gives me blessings thanks to Curse Insurance. Then if I were to lose the blessing that should trigger Loss of Power Insurance. Hard part is doing so without triggering the 'did not willingly give them up' clause. Maybe if the curse is inherently temporary, then the blessing would be as well? Maybe the curse automatically goes away when the monster disappears?
Also added Geas Insurance, if I can 'bring up the possibility' of someone casting a geas on me to get out of this world, the insurance company should be obligated to give me anything I need to accomplish this.

Complaints like these have no substance to them. We have never, in the history of the /cyoag/, gotten a CYOA about committing insurance fraud. It's a fresh premise with well-done graphics and plenty of subtle synergies between options. It is no surprise that anons are engaging with it.

Much like I explained to >>97884786 in >>97885137, each time you go through, you get to pick another gift, and considering you are keeping your identity, It's going to be a lot easier for you to get your previous life's ring back.
>>97892087
>>97892106
Luv me some recalcitrant anons. Glad to see someone swinging for the fences, and A,B, and S are always looking for ambitious prospective recruits. If you can log 80 billable hours per week, every week, then you'll be set indefinitely. You'll also be thrown into more high-risk opportunities, given your insurances. Even if they never pull the trigger on re-evaluating the status of your warlock-style powers, then I'm sure eventually some god of good will think that stripping you of your abilities will be a good play. Since you've given them enough rope to hang you, their goal will be to trigger that magical advancement while still firmly holding your leash.
>>97892096
Comfy, even less planning for the long haul. At least you can do bureaucracy quickly. Sad that no one's tried for a more... artistically interpreted meaning for immortality.
>>97892168
>If possible, I will just have someone take my ring off unprompted and see if that triggers it.
Ah, *having* someone remove it - even 'unprompted' - implies you were party to it in some way. You can't just have a designated shabbos goy. Additionally, arranging those cults will look bad on review... unless you had somehow been removed from their power structure, possibly on bad terms, through no fault of your own. You're like 80% the way there. Still, with no Insurance Insurance, you're likely to keep trying till something sticks, so likely to get there, especially when experimenting with the ring.
>>
>>97892201
Good job covering all your bases. Unfortunately, contracting with devils is a consensual obligation, and does not trigger Geas Insurance. Additionally asking/paying for A.B.and S to curse you always counts as incurring their wrath, per any contract you'd make with them. A,B, and S will likely use you on-planet to worm their way into this world. Unless you sell your soul completely - but then you'd be told how to spend your next life's MA to maximize shareholder value.
>>97892205
>I could potentially have a monster set my whole house on fire.
Once again, if you *have* it happen, then you're a party to it. But how could you have known those fire spirits would set your house on fire when you wanted them to heat your food?
>technically Curse Insurance is only invalid if I have them curse me out of anger, so if I just ask nicely I'd technically be good)
You know what, scratch that, you are technically correct. The only reason >>97892201 doesn't get this for their curses is due to working with A,B, and S.
>Maybe if the curse is inherently temporary, then the blessing would be as well?
There's definitely some play in there.
>Also added Geas Insurance, if I can 'bring up the possibility' of someone casting a geas on me to get out of this world, the insurance company should be obligated to give me anything I need to accomplish this.
Love this. Very good. Force U.M.I. to crack you out of this world themselves.
>>97892242
I appreciate it's not the usual fare. I was trying to think of a CYOA where the power granter did not want you to actually acquire power, so you had to stitch it together yourself.
If I ever do an update, I should clarify that while I.L. insurance does let your next incarnation keep your memories, that incarnation does not have any of your insurances until they receive the letter, and only then if they spend their now reduced starting MA.

>Insurance Insurance x15
>Ring of Minor Magic
The more I reincarnate, the more rings are in the setting. I just need to distribute them around. Each death means one more bearer - and one day, the world will be magical!...in a minor way.
>>
>>97893063
Yes, your world does get filled with rings. There's potential in there for infinite free energy, just wait till one of yous realizes that.
I'm thinking of doing a second page with "customer reviews" - yours is definitely getting in there.
>>
>>97893044
>If you can log 80 billable hours per week, every week, then you'll be set indefinitely.
Excellent. I've put in more for Amazon, and Azezal, Beezle, and Shultz ought to be more equitable. Further helping affairs is magic. If I can lessen the need for sleep, keeping a timetable should be easy enough. I figure I'll dedicate 20 hours a day on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and pitch in overtime on Fridays and Saturdays. I'll be taking Sundays off.
>You'll also be thrown into more high-risk opportunities, given your insurances.
Of course. I'm counting on it.
>Even if they never pull the trigger on re-evaluating the status of your warlock-style powers, then I'm sure eventually some god of good will think that stripping you of your abilities will be a good play.
A B & S are doubtless aware of my insurances, so we're at a bit of an impasse. It's more convenient for them to leave me my powers, doubly so as this is a magicless dimension, but taking them would be even more lucrative. My sole remit is to be a more valuable asset than the powers I'm given on their own, and given I don't have any sorcerous competition, getting in on the ground floor and shimmying my way to the top of the local organizations should be a cinch.
>Since you've given them enough rope to hang you, their goal will be to trigger that magical advancement while still firmly holding your leash.
Indubitably, while I'm trying to slip through the fine print of obligations. Clauses upon clauses, all thoroughly dissected by all parties involved. It's like a game of chess for my soul! Classic infernal compact, which the fiends themselves are bound to appreciate. Who knows? Maybe once I've incinerated and co-opted the local shitshow trying to pass itself off as a shadow government, I could get a promotion. The pit is the limit!
>>
>>97891990
this CYOA makes me feel stupid. There are quite a few that do, but for the most part it's really exasperation with the multitude of choices and possible connections between, or something to do with the logistics of points, etc. This one is so spare that it can't present those issues, but it relies on cunning, of which I am in short supply. I think I might have an easier time if I understood the restrictions of each thing a little more, but maybe that would spoil the magic. I was going to do something similar to >>97892205 (just saw) although heavy on the "fey implied contract" part. My question was what magic can be used in the current world, like whether any of the summoned monsters would be able to cast or curse. I guess that is answered? excellent OC, thank you again! You really seem to have a talent for these subtle, short CYOAs with options that have a wide ripple effect. I would like to see what you'd do with more space, too. Only criticism is that I do not care for the art. Since I'm clearly lost, I will choose as follows:
>Insurance Insurance x15
>M.. Me!?!
choose The Adjuster at first, then coerce her into spilling the beans by offering to release her. Alter my choices from there within the 8 hour window
>>
>>97893049
>Unfortunately, contracting with devils is a consensual obligation, and does not trigger Geas Insurance.
Oh, this is in case they try to pull some legaly unenforcable fey bullshit or some fine print kinda thing. If I am fully aware of the deal and agreed to it then, yes it's not going to work.
>Additionally asking/paying for A.B.and S to curse you always counts as incurring their wrath
Strange, someone must have abused this before. Well I can always go trough proxies that wouldn't curse me with wrath.
>A,B, and S will likely use you on-planet to worm their way into this world.
Yeah, make sense. But would have happened eventually if I introduced the world with magic.
I am starting to think my previous incarnation must have committed some really bad tax fraud to be imprisoned in this world.
>>

>Geas Insurance

>Whistle of Monster Summoning
Ngl probably going to spend a long time just dicking around with summoning creatures. Will it always be the same one? How much of a rapport can I build with them? How much can I learn from them?
It'll be interesting to see.
Ideally over a few life times I would proliferate the world with monster summoning whistles and we'd basically use them to play pokemon.
Knowing reincarnation is a thing will undoubtedly drop me into a pattern of ritualistic suicide to populate the earth with more monster summoning whistles.
Who knows maybe I'll luck out in my first life time and one of the summoned creatures will activate one of my Insurances or otherwise help me get some real magic.

Random WIP post.
Been writing a Shin Megami Tensei CYOA.
The premise is YHVH and Lucifer are gone (even before the CYOA starts) leading to open season for Demons to create fiefdoms under their own interpretations of Law or Chaos. You have the option to form a Covenant with one of these Demons (or not: True Human) and work together towards your viewpoints of what a post-Great Cataclysm world looks-like.
As a Human you have access to the elusive Demon Summoning Program (DSP) that let's you scale to and kill powerful Demons. The CYOA takes majority of its influence from Shin Megami Tensei I w/ elements from II and IV.
Yes, the (female) Demons and (male) Humans can reproduce to have children.
No, not every Demon will be featured and the ones you contract with will impact your abilities and define side-quests and party relations.
How does the Covenant System work?
Ex: You can have Satan (Law) as your starting Lord Covenant who with the disappearance of YHVH desires to bring judgement to the world for its wickedness; uniting the scattered angels under divine hierarchy, save the redeeming, establish the millennium kingdom, and judge you on your journey throughout the destroyed world (made through nukes/opening of the Expanse) to see if you are worthy of becoming the Messiah in a new Eden that will be made on the planet.
This sets your main objective, will define what type of Demons you can recruit, and what is expected of you under this Law-aligned Covenant. It includes an end goal of your adventure as you choose to go about it.
>>
>>97893163
You are the prime demo for A, B, and S. After a few millenia, you will have a few legions under you. There might be a reason you were imprisoned this world.
>>97893183
You are being very mean to UMI-chan, threatening her in such an existentially strange way. She was already being as helpful as possible, she's not very creative. Anything you bring up to try to scheme your way for more power, ends with her going "but that's illegal", with no follow up. Furthermore the call is being recorded, so anything she says in the time limit will be recorded for her metrics. If you do go over the time limit, that version of her - with her desire to see her family and friends again - may offer very different advice.
>You really seem to have a talent for these subtle, short CYOAs with options that have a wide ripple effect.
Thank you! I think that is High Praise, no face ( I don't know your name sorry).
>I would like to see what you'd do with more space, too
I currently have a rough outline of another one pager about baking. Also a two-page power picker, with the second page being succeed or fail Adventures.
>Only criticism is that I do not care for the art.
If you have a good suggestion for where to get art I will take it. For now the largest anime repositories I know are porn sites. Up until recently I have spent most of my time on.... other boards.
>>97893202
You wouldn't believe me if I told you it was just real bad luck, would you?
>>97893230
Considering the time stop is working, I like to think the work implies that magic brought here does function to its fullest extent, it's just so deep into the dimensional drift that it doesn't have any intrinsic to it, and only something powerful thrown into that world could drag magic into it.
You will likely have your Pokemon world, and considering the general chaos that will cause, try to figure out a artifact you'd like to ask the contract for, when a fae steals something shiny from you.
>>
>>97893264
Love the premise I really enjoyed those games. I would be worried if it could fractalize too easily into a million sub choices. How do you attain more law and Chaos in the Run? Which demons you recruit? Are there choices between demon selections? Really cool and I'm excited to see where this idea goes.
Most importantly: Can I fuse my normal dog with a demon?
>>
>>97893268
I missed the recording disclaimer, even though I worried it might be an issue. I wasn't planning on actually doing anything to harm or permanently affect her, but I guess I'd have to just double down and keep her past the deadline. No hotglue action, I promise - purely respectful exchange! Maybe we could work out some way to get her into a better situation once my thirst for fraudulence has been quenched.
I'm liking your progression so far: meta-CYOA building on a popular existing one, somewhat demanding rule-bender, followed by what I would assume is a comfy passion project and a classic big "A" power-focused CYOA. How long have you been following this thread, if you don't mind me asking? I have no suggestions as to the art; I just do not usually like stuff cribbed from anime. Minor concern though
>>
>>
>>97893268
Oh, I also wanted to say that I think author interaction has a huge role to play in the future of this medium (although it shouldn't typically be necessary, and it's a fine line between CYOAs and quests) and that I appreciate you doing it. The shitposters who say Entropist was only popular because of that are wrong, but I would put it at like a 60/40 split favoring that factor. Depending on the author and the CYOA it can add a lot, and really any kind of abnormal playstyle or response to builds will always drum up extra activity. Props to those who enjoy social interactions as an author beyond getting their dicks sucked
>>
>>97893281
See, you HAVE to listen to the boilerplate slop companies tell you when you first talk to them.
As the only person to actually fork her conciousness, you will find that UMI-chan's law abiding facade was kayfabe for the recording. Can't have anyone have proof that there was a girl on the inside. You've been imprisoned too long, sir.
I remember when we were picking the color/weapons of our knights.
>>97893291
Thanks! After this thread, I'm probably going to assemble the 'customer reviews' from the replies, to help fill out and answer mechanical questions, and that will be that. I hope the work stands on its own. So long as we don't destroy the internet, it will outlive me, in a way.

I use the whistle to summon an imp or similar, provoke it into taking my whistle (without willingly giving it up), and a minute later it disappears with the whistle in it. Now I've lost my magic, and get magic powers equivalent to 10 000 000 000 AA batteries.

God fucking damn it why is it so good. Once I've finished with my eternal WIP (never) I will make a tribute CYOA which tries to do what DSA did and it will fail but I'll still be happy. I was re-reading A New Job and stumbled on this danger again, and it got me thinking. What are some other choices that would come across extremely differently if the reader was, on the 0.001% chance, a heterosexual biological woman rather than the average anon? I don't mean just waifu pickers, though those also count, I mean the less overt but nowhere near subtle differences in how it may impact the reader, like this one.

Hello all
I am late, and things are bothersome
To my knowledge, the following cyoa's were posted by their authors to 4chan in the month of march:
Hand cyoa [TokHaar Gol]{Contains real hand}(Barred)
https://desuarchive.org/tg/thread/97642381/#97642592
Mon 02 Mar 2026 02:42:50

Witch picker [Ersatz anon]{Ai generated text}(This is just a screenshot of chat gpt)(Barred)

Not counting the 2 cyoa's I intend to bar, and the cantrip update which doesn't seem to have been posted by it's author, This leaves us with 2 cyoa's
There isn't really much of a vote with any fewer then 4 cyoa's
Should I run the vote anyway, despite it being mostly redundant, or should I combine march and april?
I try to be impartial, so I will be asking before doing most things, but currently I am leaning towards combining
Also, I am late and it makes me sad

>What are some other choices that would come across extremely differently if the reader was, on the 0.001% chance, a heterosexual biological woman rather than the average anon?
...I don't know. Barring some options about domination and forced intimacy, because the pipeline to rape is easy, most of the dangers in CYOAs are either lethal or harmful in a way you sex is irrelevant.
>>
>>
>>
>>97894903
They're from April, though.
>>97894890
>Should I run the vote anyway, despite it being mostly redundant, or should I combine march and april?
I'd be against it.
Think about it - we're mid April. So, what, the May vote is actually late April AND all of May? Or half half? Let's keep it simple.
Also, what are the cyoas barred from participation?
>>

I know that it's 100% certain that LOTM wins that vote, but I'd like to avoid calling votes by myself. It cheapens it
>>97894915
No I mean to continue the delay until the 3rd of may and then run a vote over the new 60 day timeblock
The format I like to use for the classifications is [Author]{Fact}(Opinion)
Because barring is an action I take of my own volition I class it at the end in (). The first 3 are barred for hand/hand/ai slop

I think you should have included the hand ones, not that it matters. If I recall correctly, the original images were both posted by the individuals owning the hands, although they may not have consented to be included in a CYOA. To me that's fair game. Thanks again for putting on these polls, I'm glad you didn't disappear.
Additionally, I still can't post images. I thought this was fixed yesterday?
>>
>>
>>
>>97895256
nah, it's just doing the same thing others have reported where the "post" percentage gets to 100% and then does nothing. If I retry a couple of times with text only it eventually goes through, but not so with an image attached. Weird issue. Someone said this is around the anniversary of the hack last year(?). Does anyone know if that's true? I do not remember anything other than it being in spring

This has been happening for the last two days. Very, very tedious but I assume it's a problem with 4chan's backend. I kind of wish the now forbidden board that once neighboured /qst/ still existed so I could try to make a complaint post to the moderators, but I'm sure they're working on it.

NTA but if you aren't willing to genocide others for your loved ones, I don't believe you ever loved them. Simple as.

What kind of absolute sociopath would choose the mother??????

I would rather die than make that choice. If my sacrifice is not acceptable, then my mother would sacrifice herself and I would take my own life due to what I did.

Unironically: Technically yes, but only because of my mother. She went deep into the family tree, and built together our legacy over many years. I don't know the name off-hand though, and I'm not going to give her a ring at midnight. But she has a whole dossier about it.
We can also date our lineage back to Harald Sigurdsson, also known as Harald Hardrada, over a thousand years ago.

I mean, the vast majority of my CYOAs are whatever setting I just come up with (usually some brand of fantasy). Making a franchise CYOA is just a way of mixing things up.
Also, I'd call Pokemon more a game than an anime. And even then, it lost a lot of anime-influence as it grew into a worldwide product, opting for less Japanese culture and more wide-appeal. It gives me about as much Japan vibes as Super Mario (not much).

>don't understand what's a "Zodiac Brides" cyoa.
NTA, but if I had to guess, its a waifu picker CYOA with an actual plot. . .but picking a waifu is the actual attraction.
For example, the actual Zodiac Brides cyoa features a fantasy kingdom that settles their succession disputes with a battle royale. (You), here on Earth, have been designated the next King, and trophy husband to the winner. So twelve heiresses - all with high level cheat abilities - are about to battle to the death in (your) hometown. Unless (you) want them to level a good chunk of the state/province (you) live in - or even just want a say in (your) future spouse - it behooves (you) to pick one and help her win as fast as possible.
(One of the rare few mate-stealing societies that encourage women to abduct men to be their husband, rather than the reverse.)
>>
>>97897130
it really depends on which 1/8 of the population really, some are more influential then others in this modern society, imagine those 1/8 are all primary sector & key technology expert. It can cause the collapse of the civilization.

That's a point that I think a lot of people miss. Unless you come back, you'll leave a "you" shaped hole in society. How bad the damage is depends on circumstances - like if you get a last phone call or something to tell your loved ones what's going on - but there will still be damage.
(Doesn't mean I'd turn down the right offer. Just that I appreciate the consequences to others.)
Another situation that I think a lot of people misjudge is portal fantasy. If there's an actual, stable portal between two worlds, governments on both sides are going to grab it for themselves. And sooner or later, it'll look like a lot like flying internationally- expensive, bureaucratic, and miles and miles of asphalt and concrete.

Random thought before I call it a night - I'd like to see Tok try his hand at a Warlock cyoa. Something where (you) pledge to a greater entity in return for power, and can recruit/bully/befriend lesser spirits.
He's generally done interesting god/demon pacts in his older cyoas (like Dragonfall or Mindslaver), and the wishing mechanics in Dragonfall were arguably THE standout of the cyoa. So a cyoa like that could really play to his strengths

>by contrast, "Worm" refers to CYOAs with a narrative that colors everything else? Scenario-heavy CYOAs? Like Charlie in OR, or MANA in JRPG Traitor, the Apocalypse in Stardust?
I hadn't thought about it in those terms, but that seems like a reasonable summation. There are definitely cyoas where the scenario heavily colors any picks the player makes. Sometimes even to the point where certain picks can be defined as "right" or "wrong", or even "trap" options . . .but in a different context, (you) would take them without a second thought.

The Age Fruit and the Kirin fruit both have ridiculous potential that gets even further boosted by my genetic enhancements. This should ideally more than make up for my relative lack of Haki prowess. I will of course be going for the One Piece, alongside persuing immortality (assuming my Age fruit doesn't already do that for me).
Updated to take some conquerers haki as a base so I can train it up later. The additional ugliness drawback shouldn't matter as I can change my apperance with the age fruit.

·· HOLE DIGGING RYOA ··
¤ ~·~-~·~-~·~-~·~-~·~-~·~ ¤
You see an auspicious dream:
"Tomorrow, find a shovel and dig a hole near where you live.
This will be no ordinary hole: great fortune or misfortune may come from it."
And you wake up. Now is the time to dig.
You can also choose not to dig. But cosmic dream-granting forces reward bravery and punish cowardice, so if you dig too little or no hole at all, you'll be less fortunate in all your doings for the rest of your life.
CHOOSE x from [0..25]. Your hole will be x meters deep.
Then, ROLL dice+<x>d20.
>>
>>97897853 (cont.)
You do your digging. What will you find down there?
>1..4
You find nothing. Just soil and rock.
>5
You find nothing. But the exercise was especially good on you. You gain 5 kg of muscle mass.
>6..15
You find a gem. The first gem you find is worth 100$. Each next gem you find is worth 10x more.
>16
You find a beautiful dwarven maiden. "Hi digger!" says the dwarven maiden coquettishly. She'll come with you. By rights, you have her hand in marriage. If you want to. You can just leave her there as well, or gift her to another anon. Dwarves don't age past their prime. She's the world's best in one (non-supernatural) skill of your choice fitting for a dwarf.
>17
You find a long-bearded dwarven sage. "Good tidings, digger!" intones the dwarven sage sagely. He'll come with you. He is an amazing teacher, and will rapidly teach you one (non-supernatural) skill of your choice fitting for a dwarf. While being taught by him, your attention span and memory retentiveness is at its max.
>18
You find an eccentric dwarven alchemist. "Digger!" croaks the dwarven alchemist awkwardly. He won't come with you, preferring to stay in the ground. But he'll give you a potion of eternal youth, if you give him the most expensive gem you dug up.
>19
You find a dwarven artifact. What power does it grant its wielder while worn? Find the power from https://powerlisting.fandom.com/wiki/Special:Random . It's a kind of item that matches the power.
>20
You dug too deep, and unleashed a demon from Hell, who was waiting for a human to unleash him. He murders you in an instant, and wears your skin like a coat. All your other rewards? Worthless. The demon wearing your skin takes over your life. He doesn't have your memories, but he's knowledgeable and decent at acting; he might or might not get caught.

No, everything must be signed and completed legitimately otherwise the magic of the seal does not work. When my wife read the cyoa, her plan was to get curse insurance and then go to 'legitimate' psychics asking for curse readings, and then if any of them diagnosed her with curses (which they would because that's their business model) she would get them to document it like a doctor's note, and use the seal to submit insurance claims. Everything perfectly legal and by the correct professional that was available.

If you've never had to deal with bureaucracy, you don't realize how powerful this thing is. Any of bureaucratic system has loopholes and exploits within it, and a lot of the ways those abuses are stopped is by carefully examining the situation. By stamping legitimate (but abusive to the system) documents you pass the main Safeguard against the system getting exploited - people actually reading the document and what's being claimed,

>The Hand of the Queen?
>Darkstalker
The idea is to advise her in her conquest.
I will be a good combatant, but more than that I will like to do recon, but an intimidating but levelheaded representative, and help her achieve greatness in a way that does not decimate the land and actually builds a flourishing dictatorship.
Powers
>Acrobatics, Darkstalker
>Shadowcasting, Darkstalker
>Death Aura, Darkstalker
>Realm Shift, Darkstalker
All essential powers for a Darkstalker really.
I will be using a martial weapon (of sorts) with decent range, so the ability to move with grace and attack from any angles will be useful. Shadowcasting is a strong dependable magic to quickly debilitate a foe. Realm Shift is useful for travel, spying, and getting out of danger. Death Aura is also quick debilitation, good for interrogation, and for projecting Her power.
Later on, after I complete some missions, the extra power I would ask granted is
>Resurrection, Healer
Used sparingly, but it can be a fantastic show of Her good will, Her infinite power, and we can resurrect some fantastic advisors of old.
Weapon
>Beine, Ravencloth Cloak
Synergy with my shadow powers since it acts as shadow, fantastic defense and offense alike, and aura. It’s not very gimmicky, just solid all around.
>Mortem, Army of Tomes (Bonus Weapon)
This seems essential for basically any build? There is so much utility power here, and it states that spells can go up to absurdly high levels (instant death projectile?!). I will store the Tomes inside the cloak and call upon whichever ones I need. In 5e I play a Necromancer Wizard, so yeah it’s great to have actual wizardry going on.

Minions
>Puzzle Skeletons
>Bestial Skeletons
>Artisan Corpse
>Wight
>Shadow Guardian
>Shade
I have no interest in run of the mill fodder, and if I do have need of this I can use Wights to summon them for me. If I ever do need an army, Puzzle Skeletons and Bestial Skeletons can create a sturdy number, with variety, and less gross/offputting than Zombies. Shadow Guardian seems a must-pick, since I have constant shadow on my person in the form of the Cloak. Shades can act as spies, and synergize with my Shadow Powers. I would love Ghost at some point too but no room for it now. Artisan Corpse seems like a lot of fun and I would love to perfect the art of reviving a perfect zombie.
Missions
>Rescue an Ally
Kind of a hottie and clearly ancient, her expertise would be appreciated. Easily done with Death Aura and my stealth skills.
>Raze a Village
I would like her to establish a city at some point, so being able to take this land over and start it over the ancient necropolis would be a good location. Make it a home base! (Is it close to the castle I wonder?). Ideally I can eliminate the military and keep the civilians as the first citizens.
>Eliminate Resistance
I have a whole plot in my head about how this city is sort of independent, but the Empires nearby are eyeing them. They rely on Mercenaries right now and are run by a trade council. I have a whole deal drafted up that I will offer them. Having this city under our fold will allow us to slowly build up that necropolis city.
I will post that draft next.
>>
>>
>>97898196
First I will enter this city state and learn a bit about it anonymously, how it works. I will spy on the council and learn about them, and how they work!
Presumably they know about the Necromancer and Castle of Bone nearby to them.
I will appear near the end of one of their councils from the shadows, and introduce myself.
I will say!
"The Necromancer is on your doorstep. She is powerful beyond what your mercenaries can answer. You know this already, and are unsure how to proceed.
I am her general and representative. I have her ear, and I have been urging patience and cooperation rather than force. I have spent time in your city. I have seen its culture, its trade, its people. I see its value. I do not wish to see it harmed.
So I come to you with an offer.
1) Full military protection. No more reliance on mercenaries. The kingdoms that eye your borders will think twice if they know you have the power of a Necromancer backing you.
2) A modest trade agreement, with a small percentage of revenue funding infrastructure for our new city we are founding.
3) A road built between our two cities, at our expense, using our undead labor.
4) Your council remains intact. Your laws, your culture, remain untouched. Complete internal autonomy.
5) A seat on this council for myself, and recognition of fealty to the Necromancer
6) The option of one year of secrecy before any public announcement of this arrangement, giving you time to manage how you present it to the citizenry on your own terms. "
If at that point I still see hesitation, I will tell them that they may send a representative to the castle to give their answer, and that they will be guaranteed safe passage. Then I vanish and make them sweat.

Thank you Anon, I generally pop in every few weeks to every few months (there was a 3 year period where I never checked 4chan). I'm glad the community liked this CYOA so much, but as it says on the bottom all I really did was collect everyone's ideas and wrap it up. Always neat to see a build for one of my old CYOAs! Also, the link >>97898426 you posted seems to be missing the quest page.
I like your plan dealing with the city. Not many people would want to fight to the death against an army of the undead if other options are on the table. And a shadow-based build is fun. Glad you like the CYOA!
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>97898895
Ah, what a surprise! To be honest this is maybe the third time I've made this build, I go back and tweak it from time to time, and this time did some writing.
If you're here, I am wondering how alive the weapons are. Clearly they can bond with you. If you further the bond could you communicate with them? Would they act on their own?
>>
>>97898951
The weapons have likes, dislikes, and personality. But they lack things like creativity and language - like they're missing parts of the human brain. As for communicating with them, it would be possible. It would be like using telepathy on someone that doesn't have an internal monologue - just vague ideas that you'd have to practice to hone in on. As for acting on their own, they lack the bodily autonomy for that, but you could potentially rig something together with enough study - if you built a mechanism that would increase a weak ghost's ability to physically interact with the world, that same device or procedure could be applied to one of the weapons.

I'm ESL and my writing skill is dogshit. In cyoas, writing style matters less than some other aspects, but it's still worth improving. i've never read a book on writing, so i picked up Consider This by Chuck Palahniuk (the author of Fight Club).
I'm in the middle of it and I really feel it was worth it, and some of the advice is applicable to cyoas. I'll post my notes when I finish, tomorrow probably.
>>
I once made a JRPG based TTRPG for my friends. The Rules were intentionally confusing and abusable. Around session 4 they realized how to game the mechanics and blew the combat wide open (They also got to create the pokemon style elements/interactions of the world, notable standouts: Surprise, Perception, Runes, Lead, Water). The game had to end shortly after that due to life.
Anyway, the character creation system for that was a CYOA. I've always wanted to transform it into a proper one, but I never could settle on where to put it on the timeline, or how mad to go with the mechanics/import from the TTRPG rules.
This is not a project I'm working on, just a thing I saw in my google drive, remembered, and wanted to share. Posting this for the sick degenerate who said he liked CYOAs.

I'm more for defense than offense. The immovable object is far more valiant a role model than the unstoppable force. But here's a webm of battle slime.
>>97899557
The thing is I'm not exactly sure what I'd add to that one. It was pretty self-contained so the only thing I feel like I could reasonably add would be a greater diversity of options, but in my past experiences, updates that add more lateral build options tend to be poorly received, or rather glossed over as no one wants to make a new build. Branching Heart was that in a nutshell.

She liked creating designated punching bags for the world. Based on how she described things, the only reason she survived the rebounded double damage of Dream Come True was the Immortality Potion in her blood.
This was a group CYOA for a campaign where I wanted the players to make the countries in the world. Ultimately the bulk of the campaign was set in a nation-state built set in a city from the old empire, and even then it was 5 sessions of a zelda-water-dungeon inspired sewers. Same player's country as the example above, actually. Then life happened again.
She and another player in the nation game absolutely hated each other, and only played together because they were both my friend. I loved watching them bounce off each others' entirely different and opposing understandings about the nature of reality. Both were very smart too, so watching them deconstruct each other was hilarious to me. I could only wrangle them into one other game together, though. That one had one of them rage quit after blowing up the setting though. Great fun.
Blogpost over.

I made a CYOA once where the waifus were multiversal entities but you're constrained to your single universe. Technically it was just a single option to waifuize your multiversal entity, but it still made it very poorly received.
