It was genuinely terrible.
Now if it was a fan film I would have said it was better for it's time. But it isn't a fan film.
I would still say it was not great as a fan film but fan films get a bit of leeway as they don't get much budget at all.
>Produced by the same guy who produced the first three Bionicle films.
How did the Ultramarines film look worse than those and seem worse animated than those too?

Thanks.
Any reliable airbrush tutorials that helped you understand the airbrush?
I don't mind videos if they helped but maybe webpages I can save as screenshots for reference are my preference.
>That all said these things are not the delicate little babies people seem to think
I'm still not gonna hammer my airbrush to test how resilient and durable it is. But that's very reassuring.

What are the coolest commissar models in your opinion? I wanna get two for my army and the one GW sells right now doesn't look very nice to me.
>>

I genuinely dont know who its for. I guess... new deathwatch fans? But the thing is most deathwatch fans either already have the new kill team OR have blackstar. There is no point in getting multiples of both. Such a strange decision.

>206 Eurobongs for the new Guard box
The Sons of Dorn box is 215 Eurobongs, so looks like it's gonna be ~$250 USD before discounts? We can probably guess the prices as something like this
>Rogal Dorn - 82.50
>Cadians - 42.00
Leaving ~84 Eurobongs off the bundle price and assuming you're getting one of the Hippogriffs for free I'm guessing it's something like this
>Centaur - ~50 Eurobongs/60 Ameridollars (Going off the price of the Chimera/Taurox)
>HIppogriff - 37 Eurobongs/48 Ameridollars (Going off the price of the Sentinel)
>>

I don't have either because the tomb world box was scalped and so is the kill team itself and the blacked star box for inquisition so I just didn't bother at all.

Oh right I forgot that gw is scalping the fucking team behind some fiendish 5 man team rather than a standard 10 man.
Also man I don’t get how you can so willingly gobble on James taint so much to want to pay for more of a bad deal.
>You can just get 10 intercessors for like 30 bucks and slap the extra weapons on them what's the problem?
Does the ETB shit even let you use upgrade sprues on them? Also incest sisters don’t cost $30 here where I’m at, it’s more like $30 for 5 at best.

It's invulnerable to waac outside of certain gay rules laywer type shit, because no one can just bring a retarded netlist, they have to bring one of the available teams which despite everything are reasonably well balanced besides a couple outliers. If someone beats you it's not because they're spamming c'tan and there was basically nothing you could do, it's because they mogged you.

Posted in the last thread but thread was reaching end and got no replies, so…
This is a prototype for how I’m planning to do my kabalite warrior units. Theme is Kabal of the Broken Sigil. Was gonna do last hatred, but when I brought it up I was reminded it was overdone. I couldn’t find many examples of others who did broken sigil and I liked the design and the lore so ran with what I saw. Armor is sybarite green mixed with dark reaper and leadbelcher to give it a metallic look, shoulders and other details runelord brass, hair and minor jokoro orange with troll slayer layer. Eyes khorme red. Any suggestions before I do the rest?

honestly trying to compare with picks im not sure if they're meant to be green or blue
not sure what happened to your green but it looks wrong on technical level is the best way to put it but it might be the metallic flakes combined with too much thinner
your brass maybe looks ok but in this light it's hard to tell but it probably should be leaning more into warmer tone golds

Dark Mech and Exodites
>i want more imperium but spiky!
>i want seraphon rip offs!
Both are unnecessary and neither will be good if GW makes them.
And both can already be made anyway.
Literally just buy admech shit and put on spikes, and buy seraphon shit and proxy them with CWE rules or even DE depending what playstyle you want.

>>
>>97914129
I looked through a few examples and each one looked a bit different, but I was getting kinda teal vibes. I honestly was hoping the green would shine through and reflect more once I gave it a wash but I think it just made it darker. I was thinking of trying a light green or even blue contrast to get it to come out better. It applied on wet closer to what I was going for, but dried a lot darker than anticipated.

GW can literally release new models and new armies at the same time, like with the Kroot expansion/refresh in 2024 and EC release in 2025. There is nothing stopping them from doing both, the mentality that one army getting attention takes away from another is retarded because it really only happens when GW releases another line up of Space Marine Guntercessors but they've got shark helmets or some shit instead of upgrading old models for DE.

I feel like it depends on how complex you want your base to be.
I often do my bases first, then try to paint all the spots that'd be harder to access on the mini before I put it on. Large stuff like base coats/dry brushing/air brushing should be done mostly before putting them together.

Why do GW keep doing these awful value battleforces? It's one thing when they had actual value, but I still see Christmas battleforces sitting on several Local game stores I have been to. Even some of the official stores still have them. The one with 30 bloodletters will never sell. £140/150 simply won't sell. The cost is too high. £100/110 was the limit and sales just dropped drastically from there. It's one thing if it's a new release but the Tau, CSM, Khorne and Emperors Children and even the Space Marine (half decent) christmas battleforces are still at my local store.
Surely it costs them money to do this shit and stuff sitting on a shelf is always bad. Why do they keep doing it? Hell, put fewer models in the next few boxes if you need to lower the price.

Doesn't help that the thing is tiny. It's basically a land speeder with wings as your faction's flyer. Now that 30k stole Arvus for themselves, we can't even that that in 40k. Some big flying espresso machine that relies on anti-grav, rather than aerodynamics or powerful thrusters, would work for Admech. IG (via Navy) can have their sleek fighters, marines their high speed, high drag assault bricks, and Admech could have something slower, more methodical flying fortress that lays waste to everything with powerful guns and missiles while landing troops via grav-chutes or something.

This is mostly a lore question. I figure if you can have force staves, then a set of warpclaws or Force Fists some such would be valid as weapons

Noticed the space wolf scouts sprue has a shoulderpad for the Great Wolf's company, usually it's just logan grimnar's (why exactly is a side character the one with the headliner Space Wolf enblem?). I am afraid this is the direction they're going to go with psychic powers in general and DE were just a test for this format of resource abilities on datasheets.
Like Eldar get a bunch of psychic powers that all key off of their army rule resource specific to each datasheet.

It's kind of boring theres 0 room for team customization outside of unsupported index teams and the game is so built from the ground up and entirely focused for tournament play that it might as well just do away with physical measurements and use a grid based system at this point.
Basically if you like anything outside of super competitive matches it has no merit.

I'm not going to lie Robots not being front and center is unironically sort of a big part of 40k. Almost every other Sci-Fi setting is robots being a part of daily life and technology but in 40k its flying churches in space which is why the only "robot" faction is the undead space mummies.
A faction of normal robots or a rogue genocidal AI kind of goes against 40k as a setting I get thats what Tau basically are with their drones but Taus entire thing is being the normal sci-fi society that gets raped in the horror show that is 40k.

Litter or step on the grass? 40 whippings minus one. Thieves? Crucified.
He also punishes speaking gothic incorrectly. Problem is, he speaks old gothic from 10,000 years ago. Unironically everyone is speaking wrong nowadays.

I see it now in that document. Yeah it seems a bit messy of a choice given that this edition supposedly pushes more people into playing competitively anyway.
>>97915269
The rules make a distinction between 'reserves' and 'strategic reserves' in that first paragraph, which I assumed was pretty much Deep Strike and whatever else arrives from your side of the board, respectively.
>Note that while all Strategic Reserves units are also technically Reserves units, the reverse is not true, and so these rules do not apply to units that are using other rules that enable them to start the battle in Reserves (e.g. Deep Strike). Such units are instead set up as described by those other rules.

To be honest regular genocidal AI is boring and overdone in other media and our genocidal robot faction is already necrons.
It also very much directly contradicts established lore. Barring the men of iron being obliterated during the war predating the dark age of technology if there were any AIs left the Emperor would have destroyed them during the Great Crusade.

Yeah I just started playing Deldar right before that happened and it fucked things up so much. The +1 to hit was absolutely necessary to make the Talos gauntlet a good weapon. Otherwise you’re hitting on 4’s. Now spending a pain token allows you to roll for a “fight upon death” ability prior to removing them from the board. It only works during the fight phase they are dying in and only if they aren’t already fighting next. Like what’s the fucking point? Give me something useful instead of something that can only be used once a battle. That’s what command points are for. Pain abilities should be spammable, that’s the fucking point of them.

There are a number of things in Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, and Eldar Legends that are very close to being better than counterparts that aren't Legends. Some armies even have models that fulfill roles that none of their regular forces do at all. There's an Unaligned troop selection that's so laguhably undercosted that they'd probably be the point filler if everyone actually could access them in tournaments.

Wracks are just an awful data sheet all around. They were priced like Space Marines because of the T4 2W thing, but have shit saves, shit guns, and shit melee without turning them hazardous and even then only into infantry targets which is the only thing the Codex doesn't struggle to kill in cheap and efficient ways already. They are only barely possible in the dedicated covens Detachment, but that Detachment is awful because it buffs three units and only one of them is any good. The faction is sorely missing grotesques and Urien.

Besides the complaints of L-shaped terrain, loss of rules flavour, etc, do you find 10th edition fun?
I've been playing a ton of 40k 5th ed and Horus Heresy games, but a guy at the LGS asked me to play 10th ed a few weeks ago. It could just be the fresh prospective but coming back to it I think I had more fun than I was having in the older rulesets. I think a big part of it was there wasn't a concern that a matchup would straight up lead to an unfun fight (Sure they could glance, but Necrons vs Guard in 5th struggled to kill so many vehicles). Therw also was no singular moment where the game was decided and you could see the enjoyment leave your opponents eyes.
I want to try get some of the people I have been playing 5th with to try 10th/11th, but my main opponent seems super against it. It could genuinely be an age thing.

The core rules are good. Army/internal balance can be a fuckshow at times but they iron out the truly egregious stuff relatively quickly now, minus what's going to remain OP for the tail end leading into 11th. My big issue with the edition isn't even with the edition itself but with GW's balancing/release schedule: by the time everything's settled in, the new edition will be out, throwing the whole thing out of whack again. Give the game a fucking minute to breathe, GW. It felt like we were getting either a rules update, new meta warping unit/detachment or FAQ/dataslate every single month for three straight years. I just want a few months where nothing's coming out or changing at the tail end so you can play the final, ironed out edition.
>>

>I just want a few months where nothing's coming out or changing at the tail end so you can play the final, ironed out edition.
Assuming you can convince your gaming group, you could keep playing 10th for the first year of 11th edition. That gives a chance for the first few books of 11th to come out and everything to stabilise before moving over.

Their main unit is in limbo and they're not buying into the bolter-only more expensive points/cash unit they're pushed to have.
Whats worse is that they already felt the sting of their hover vehicles being replaced by bigger and better versions. Their bikes are just one "special weapon added to outriders" away from being fully replaced.
Look at the 135 point dreadnought with 2 shooty guns compared to the 3 other shooty+melee dreads that shoot more.
GW is rules-creeping White Scars players to extinction. My old store had 4 players out of 19 marine players because of bike lists. Nobody wanted to run ravenwing.

During games I find myself and my opponents sratching our heads at some interactions or mechanics that don't make sense and were way better in previous editions. The only part about 10th I can say I like is missions, but I am liking 11th's more. Any actual enjoyment I get from 10th is from things inherent to dice games like getting lucky at certain rolls or some emergent elements from how the game has unfolded but nothing explicitely from the ruleset itself.

I like how an army modelled after the 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler still looks like it belongs in 40k unlike some trannoid coloured space marine chapter (the trannoid colours fit if you paint eldar that way thoughbeit)

blood axes have too much going for them to be easily forgotten. kommandos, using tactics, imperial larping, and mercenary work are traits that aren’t shared by many orks. I’d say snakebites wouldn’t be missed because although tribal orks are cool, they don’t have a unique color scheme or anything of note about them. deathskulls are also a big contender because their gimmick is just looting and being superstitious which applies to 95% of orks, and I say that as someone who paints deathskulls.

Would you take a leviathan dreadnought or a Brutalis if given the choice? Both are 160 points

Unlike Space Wolves, I dont mind nigger Black Templars.
They're a crusading chapter, they jump world to world recruiting everyone. I'm surprised we dont see Asian Black Templars who got recruited in Attila or something.
Space Wolves only recruit from one planet that is basically scandinavia. Blacks going front and center all the time is retarded.

>Eldar get a lore article
>It's about Yriel being told to sit down and be a good boy until a Harlequin comes along and tells him to go pick a fight with Huron (a fight he goes on to lose, badly)
>AoS HElves get a lore article
>It's about them kicking the asses of three different factions and how they have the Mandate of Heaven to be the best Order faction in the setting
Why can't Eldar get the AoS writers?

>red corsairs?
I'd actually place the Red Corsairs above the more forgettable traitor legions since the fact that the Red Corsairs are the strongest warband unaffiliated with an actual traitor legion makes them noteworthy

Now? Maybe, however people in general have such bad memory in the modern era in the entire life of 40k 8th edition was the first time they ever truly *focused* on the other first foundings
8ths marine supplement era was utterly legendary marine wank in retrospect you had entire armies with barely any updates but the fucking iron hands got a full codex lmao. However, this gambit did provide some minor boosts to those chapters but still I’d argue white scars/Raven guard while liked wouldn’t really have their removals be felt
>>
>>
>>97917071
>iron hands got a full codex
That's pushing it. The 8th edition supplements were nothingburgers. Even more for iron hands who had 0 special units. There was nothing in that book, just the improved subfaction rules and Feirros.

Elysians were a FW only super expensive resin regiment that had lost their models a decade ago. The reality of IG is that it's a horde army with insane prices on any infantry kit that wasn't plastic dadians and catachans so those two are the only models you'd see on the table for two decades.

To be fair those wikis are often filled with out of date or outright fanfiction by autists who want their headcanon to accidentally become canon or by trolls.

I'm not going to humor the idea that chaos warriors or kislev are more boring than marines
Make no mistake, chaos warriors and kislev are definitely very very boring as well, but marines are such an absurdly low bar that even those would be more exciting in comparison

When you see Eldar in person, what craftworld is the most popular?
I liked Biel tan since dawn of war so when I started painting models in 2022 and looking at the online catalogue I was surprised to see everything is Saim Hann.
I thought Biel tan, purple deldar and ochre tau were the standard for box and promo art.
another question.
Are aspect warriors painted in their own scheme regardless of craftworld? Banshees just coincidentally have biel tan colors right? I assume that Iyanden troops and vehicles for example would be all yellow and blue with aspect warriors in their respective colors.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to keep "politics" out of the hobby. You can claim that 40k is inherently political yet, curiously, screeching about politics to everyone around you will get you kicked out of a GW store.

Biel-tan used to be the boxart colour for eldar but it swapped to Samm Hain in the late 00s.
As for aspect warriors the actual fluff is that each aspect shrine (of which craftworlds may have more than 1 for each aspect so you can legitimately do different schemes for each squad if you want) has its own scheme. So you can do "traditional" colours for each or your own schemes or make them all like your craftworld colour if you want. Mine use the same kind of colours as the traditional schemes but don't match exactly.

As the other anon said, Eldar have never won a major victory without incurring terrible losses that essentially defeat the purpose of the victory. Even then their wins are incredibly rare and often don't get much, if any, focus.
