I don't get the hype about Dragonshield. I have them for my first cube and they're kinda crap. For my second cube I used KMC hyper matte blue and they are much better. A few more are kind of crap out of the box but they're more durable over all and don't warp over time. For an expensive deck I'd go KMC inners and outers.

How do cards like this work with Trample?
Say, for example, I have a 4/3 attacker versus a 2/3 defender.
Would the attacker still have to assign 3 damage to the defender then trample for 1x3 or would the attacker only have to assign 1 damage to the defender because of the triple damage effect?

Several of Dominaria's continents were temporally phased out from the plane during the Phyrexian invasion. While the invasion was defeated, it turns out that putting the plane back together is more complicated than taking it apart. Temporal rifts form on the plane and over time start spilling out things and people from alternate histories. Like the alternate version of Braids here who wasn't an evil cabalist who magically weaponized insanity and became trapped in her own nightmares.

Eventually things are sorted out and set back as they were, mostly. Stuff from the Rathi Overlay remained on Dominaria. And the continent of Zhalfir turned into a whole new plane instead of being restored to where it was. But mostly things worked out.

WoTC randomly does the reprinting or the SL wouldn't meaningfully affect premodern.

Wotc hasn't monetized pauper to any meaningful degree and that format is a magnitude bigger than premodern (paupergeddons, which suck to get into if you aren't italian and are almost impossible for non-europeans, get 1k+ players).

it's basically whatever's needed to kill the creature. That's why trample+deathtouch is such a good combo, because you only have to assign 1 damage and then can trample over with the rest.

Kamigawa (original) is probably the biggest case of historic revisionism I've ever seen in Magic history. When the set came out I genuinely didn't see a single person that had anything positive to say about the set aside from "the design mistakes weren't as bad as Mental Misstep". The opinion was that the designs were ugly as sin, the mechanics were total ass (fitting since one of them was "legends matter"), and the story was a clusterfuck of 10000 characters that did nothing.
In many ways I feel it now perfectly embodies what a lot of armchair designers say Magic should be, where it's a block people say is peak, but if WotC actually stuck with that direction it would have killed the game because nobody would actually buy it, including the people glazing it so hard.
