This year is the 10th anniversary of Amazing Yamaguchi. Do you think they will do anything special for the occasion?

Venom is the logical upcoming candidate for 2.0 update. Deadpool was AY No.1, Spider-Man was 2, and Venom was 3. We have been getting tons of Symbiotes lately. But that to me feels like will impede sales more than being a lead up.

I'm not holding my breath but I wish the Yotsuba line would get a revival under Yamaguchi. I really want something wholesome and cute but updated articulation for a change. Revo Squid girl's body is really nice aside from the lack of waist articulation and limited chest range of motion.

Nah I went to watch a review of the figure on youtube after he said that (notice the time interval between his post and mine) and the review points out multiple qc issues. Eyes off, ball joints that pop out too easily, knees too loose, toe articulation too loose, etc.

It's not even that for AY Harley blonde ver since they fucked up on the reissue too.

They constantly cut corners at Kaiyodo so random paint issues and/or plasticizer issues will continue to pop up randomly. It doesn't matter what happened before they might avoid paint company A when the problem occurred but the next cheap company B might just be as bad. These issues shouldn't be happening if they were sticking to some reliable companies which is what I assume all the other places who don't suffer like this are doing.

Plasticizer leak is the disc rot of toys.

Because everything is expensive now. Kaiyodo has something like 70 mouths to feed and action figures are not that lucrative. Those America based companies are distributing magnitudes more quantity of toys so the price lowers overall, the cost of production aren't that different to Revoltechs. So they can afford better quality materials. It's like MacFarlane's higher price stuff. They aren't more costly, they just make less of them. Japanese figures like Figma and Revoltechs are even fewer examples of that.

Both strategies lately have been more output. Profits are still low but doing more should keep them afloat. Kaiyodo and GSC are also investing more and more into model kits since those cut a lot of the expensive factory time. Statues are also better profit margin and you notice Kaiyodo is getting back in to that game as well.

Revo Mini was underrated and I’m still upset it was discontinued.

I had a backlog of Revoltechs I just opened so some quick thoughts. I'm not a photos person and even if I did they would be hand posed so I know how you guys hate those.

Is it me or the lower half of legs made of metal? They feel slightly colder to the touch. But for the size it should feel a lot heavier.
QC issues I have, the chest was really dirty with some gunk. I can see fingerprints but they all come off easily enough. The left shoulder joint hinge is real loose at certain positions so much so it can't support the arm's weight.
Strange engineering choice for the hip joints, the main peg is a metal shaft and the legs are just inserted to it. They are less than 1cm long and contact surface is pretty small. They hold the legs strong enough, but what happens is as you pose you don't notice the legs are slowly creeping away and then you drop a leg or the rest of the AY. So be aware. Otherwise best Z ever unless the SMP will be as good as the Kantam Robo.

Shoulder joints insertion is different, normally the pegs face toward the diaphragm ball joint, but hers are forward toward her boobs? due to the butterfly joints probably which I think was unnecessary. The pieces around the knee joints might be warped and prevent full knee bend so I say heat up the area and let it cool in full bend state for smooth operation. Her elbow range is bad for no reason.

The legs on my Mazinger did feel a bit cold on my copy too but I'm pretty sure it's plastic. I had the leg issue right out of box and the crotch came apart because of the drop-down hip design. Seems like a semi-common thing but I did fix all the issues but added glue in the hip holes and gluing the crotch back together.

He's a cool character in-universe, but you'd think he'd be more relevant to make when they get to the next part of the arc and release a different Garou. Their character selection for OPM has been a bit strange after Garou with Puri and Bang, there are a lot flashier characters that would make for likely more interesting action figures. In retrospect I respect them for going with the original art style, but the Sky remake's artstyle actually looks pretty good. I fucking hated the main artist for Cold Steel because CS3 up to Reverie had terrible character art but they actually improved for the Sky remakes. At this point I'm hoping for at least one good face because I think the sculpt overall looks great.
