No fucking way, are these still a thing?! Man, I remember having these as a kid in the 90s, clicking the digimon together to fight, they were incredible. I had this one that was shaped like a dog, it was white with brown spots iirc, I adored it.

Thanks for making a new thread, OP.
My most expensive vpet has to be one of these. I spent the most on the Uratama, but the value of some of these Digimon has gone absolutely wild since I first bought them.

Pen 20th is a great one, not to wish that it gets devalued, but I do hope for a color version down the line cause of all the upgrades. But Bandai would definitely rather sell everything piecemeal for more profit. I'd love if they'd remake the pendulum X so bad, I love the sleek card shell design.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11698916
The only real exciting thing about the Pen20 is how you can hack it to have all the eggs from all the versions,
Which would definitely not transfer over if they made a Pen20C
For gameplay, its really not any better than PenOGs and I almost never reach for it when I want to run a Pendulum.
>>
>>
>>11699189
I just can’t bone down on the pendulum (or regular) colours because of the tiny rosters of monsters we’ve seen a gorillion times. Also to my mind, the colour screens are an almost strict downgrade from the charming, like, 16x24 pixel screens of the classic monochrome LCDs
>>
>>
>>
>>11699366
I just happened to be in on the ground floor. But they’ve ballooned in price over the last 5 years or whatever.
They’re also all opened and played with, to be clear, I just store them back in the packaging when they’re not in use.
>>
>>
>>11697819
>What’s your most expensive device?
Probably my navy Digimon X2 right now. Missed the initial release but managed to get it at nearly triple the original MSRP, but that was a steal compared to how it is currently. It's crazy to see something that was readily available three years ago going for as much as a Japanese OG device.
>>
>>
>>
>>11699189
I'm happy enough with them, especially the two new ones.
They (like all moderns) are much faster than the classics, but they have a lot of cool quality of life changes, and eliminated much of the classic buggy tomfoolery.
I'd say grab one or two of you can afford em.
>>
>>11700176
People play with them all, there are japanese releases in color now too but you obviously have to import and there are limited amounts of them, gets very expensive. You can still find some Digimon 20ths for 20 bucks on ebay or other resell sites which is MSRP. 20ths have a very large roster including the original one that you would have played as a kid.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11700459
So the Digimon X version 2s (also called XC/XD) had their rosters swapped from what was supposed to be on them and from what was shown on the packaging, they did a massive recall and refunded people money and then when they brought them back they actually didn’t fix the rosters and instead found it easier just to change the mons advertised on the box. They also never brought back the red and purple shells besides in europe or some shit?
>>
>>11700537
That's more or less it,
And it's theorized that because of this fiasco is why we didn't get the X3s in the west.
Biggest regret of my collection was getting in when the penz were dropping just after the X3s got expensive

I bought the manaphy egg ages ago (~2011) for relatively cheap. Its a fun device but doesn't ask much from you, very little in the ways of care
It used to be my most expensive device after it ballooned, but I guess that goes to my gold X2 digivice now. I think it was like $22 off amazon three years ago, now I wish I bought more
I recently got the zinogre color crossover device because I love monster hunter. The sprites are really nice, but I wish it was a bit more robust in terms of content

Did you order from Zenin? I placed my first order with them at the beginning of January, still waiting on my Chinese/Japanese Digimon pair. Messaged them like two weeks after placing the order asking why I hadn’t seen any updates, and when they finally wrote back, they basically said, “oh, shipping estimates don’t account for warehouse time, thanks for being patient” or some shit. Apparently massive delays in actually shipping your shit are typical for Zenin?
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11704851
Mercifully I’m not American, so I don’t have to worry about most tariffs. But what’s the deal with Zenin? Why do these orders take so long? Do they just not actually have the items on hand and then source them after an order’s placed? I don’t get it.

Probably my tamagochi P's (I have a sweets deco piece as well). I bought it back when it released. Crazy to see the prices they go for now.
I also have an unopened Music Start still in its blister. I see these listed for crazy prices, but have no clue if anyone actually buys them at that markup. I'd be willing to sell it if I knew how much I should be charging without getting ripped off (or ripping someone else off).

Unironically the Chinese v-pets often called Tamagezi. You can order them for pretty cheap off of Aliexpress. It has an almost slow life/farm sim gameplay loop where you sell crops to collect money. Eventually that money can be invested into passive income streams, or spent on other things like food and cars. Your tamagezi has an education level, and gets better jobs in adulthood based off how much education they received as a child. There's a lot of content on this small device, and it manages to not be disjointed. It's satisfying raising this creature. English translation is hilariously bad at times, but it gets the point across.
Maybe the uni has more content, but in terms of an offline device there is a lot to do in this little thing. You can even gamble away all your hard-earned money on it kek

It's definitely very busy, but it tends to be in short bursts. You can even clean the house in the thing, for extra distress. There's a few house interiors you can buy, the spiral staircase being the most expensive. Eventually, the tamagezi becomes an adult and must get married on top of having a job. I haven't got that far yet, but they have to go on dates first before finding someone suitable for marriage. Once married, they will have an offspring before "leaving." The child will inherit the wealth of the parents, including passive income streams, etc. The manual says it can live for 255 days, and I have only had it for about 17.
I have another, similar, tamagezi device made by what seems like a different brand. I haven't put batteries in it yet, bet it seems similar to the current one I'm running.
The contrast between this tamagezi and my tamagotchi paradise is hilarious. The gotchi lounges around idylly on the planet, maybe hauling a cart to catch eggs once a day. While the other toils endlessly from 7 am to 11 pm. I do give the tamagezi breaks from work and school often, and try to give it weekends off. Unfortunately the school teacher chastises you for not attending school if you miss it, even on weekends.

Sounds interesting but I'm not buying chink shit.
>>
>>11706845
I just kind of prefer my pets to be little monsters rather than odd people with jobs and mortgages and wives and shit. The paradise is solid in that regard, though I wish there was a bit more to do (or more ways to interact with or let down the tamagotchi).

The star mechanic seems terribly thought through in general. Who wants to keep the same guy for a month straight? And then there’s no way of just incidentally accumulating care mistakes or something, you actually have to starve it to death? Who thought this was a good idea?

Seconding the Digimon 20th. Also, if you lean more toward classic pets like I do, the 2024 Connection is solid. Expansive roster of guys, items to collect, decently intractable. And it’s got a few key soulful features: it’s always on, your little dude will occasionally play with items on its own — it’s currently snowing on my device, and because it’s February, I’ve consistently got chocolate hearts in the shop. Does a lot of things very well for such a simple device

It's a way to "save" your favorite tamas since the breeding RNG makes it unlikely to get the exact same one again.

Wanna say better than the angel in that i like the Tamas better. Bugs are better than fat wing babies.
As for game play, you're gonna be looking at a worm for most of the game play and the bug part of the tama will feel shorter. You feed, and then a random encounter might try and step or eat your bug.
Still worth it if you can. Just find a shell you like the most.

Exactly that, yep.
Related to Digimon, model kits of some Child/Rookie levels are coming (pricier than I'd expect at 1650 each) and also a FRS-A Magnagarurumon that combines with KaiserGreymon to form Susanoomon. With how the parts connect, it seems like it might be possible to use the extra parts to make a whole other character (assuming you don't want to make the giant gun).

>More Ver.20ths ahead of the 10th anniversary
>Don't even have the decency to repackage the Ver.Revival
>The prints outside of Agumon are random
I mean, I get it, but at the same time I don't get it at all.
>>11714922
As excited as I am for MagnaGarurumon, and as cool as it is that it comes with so many extra parts, I really wish it looked better. Hope it does well enough to warrant further combining kits like OmegaShoutmon and ZeekGreymon though.
>>11715448
I don't think a lot of people knew either. Be a sport and share?
>>
>>11714794
We will have to buy these and the wave 2s and then X wave1s and rhen the X2 wave 1s if we want the X3! Surely they will all sell well and they won’t just cancel the line after the first wave of X devices because people get burn out again!
>>
>>11715501
They canceled the X line because of how bad they fucked up the devices. It wasnt burn out. Tamagotchi still released new case designs every few months that only ever have ver.1 and ver. 2 on them.
Coincidentally, this is why we will never get anything other than dm20's from now on, because of how well tamagotchis do.
>>
>>
>>11715508
They stopped releasing 20th shells because of burn out, they announced more special ones were coming back around 2021 or 2022 and didn’t because the other specials weren’t selling as much as they had hoped, also it wasn’t just their fuck up, its known the X2s in general didn’t sell nearly as much as the X1s since most people were just holding out for the X3 since its widely considered as the best roster of the devices
>>
>>
>>11714794
>>11714920
I don’t even like the ver20th and I just spent the last half a year+ completing one (minus the eggs that require connections), so this is literally the last thing I want to see get announced. I’ll still buy the fuck out of it though if it raises the chances that we’ll get something actually good that I don’t have to pay an arm and a leg to import.
>>
>>11715641
Personally love the 20th and i don’t have a version B so im definitely buying, will probably get a version A at a later date even though i already own one. Hopefully this and the second wave sells well enough for them to try it with the X devices or even the Pendulum 20s

Did anyone here ever get the Detective Conan Tamagotchi? I passed up on it when it was first shown and idk why but it popped back up in my head again. Are the Color Nanos in general good or just overpriced and still barebones?
>>

I haven't had the chance to play it. I had intended to play it in October, but some personal stuff came up and I just haven't had the patience for vpets lately. It looks like it has a whole lot of mini-games though.

I really hate having to double (triple) dip just for the sake of possibly getting something cooler down the line, but I can't deny that digital camo looks pretty cool.
As an aside, this is the first time an English release has been allowed to have non-matching cage and button colors, isn't it?

This has been my first Tamagotchi (had a lot of Digital Monsters in the past). Fun and I like how interactive it is, but I do kind of wish they were ugly little pixel guys instead of so hi def haha. Going to wait until I fully level up my planet and then look up how these guys work under the hood for tamas I want.

I assume just the shell but God how nice would it be if we got a V20 with a second similarly sized roster
>>
>>
>>11719790
Outside of differentiating it from the previous 5 waves? That they intend to release more.
And yes, it's just a new shell so far, but I do kind of hope all this is in preparation for something bigger. It'll be the 30th anniversary next year, as well as the 10th anniversary of the Ver.20th (can't believe it's been that long already), so there's no better time to do it.

The case came in and it's quite nice. It does have a Chinesey aspect to it that I can't really explain in detail. However, it does solve the annoying thing about the Colors and their recessed buttons with the button extenders it comes with. The top also is always pushing down on the pins but I'm going to try and carve out a little indent with a drill to fix that.

bro there is no way that i paid zenin an extra 35 to get my fucking package from months ago because of tariffs and right before it gets sent out new tariffs are in place and i may have to give another fucking 15 on top of it. brother..if they just sent my fucking package 2 weeks ago when i paid man i wouldn’t have to deal with this

i ordered it like early last year, i wouldn’t buy from them middle last year onward. im just getting fucked constantly from suspensions of orders and them wanting more money cause tariffs. i wanted this to be the last vpet i imported but i cant even get it kek
>>
>>11722095

i headcanon it as training so they dont turn into goysoomer normiesloptamas. killing off 30+ is a ritual to deify a guardian like odintchi.
>>
>>11722146
Hmm, that begins to make sense. That kinda plays into my headcanon that the tamagotchi planet is brand new, so the tamas are very primitive and simple on this new planet. They are essentially tamagotchi cavemen on the paradise.Tribal sacrifice fits right into that narrative.
>>
>>
>>11722127
For what it's worth, I just went through the same deal using FromJapan, minus the delays. If I had known extra tariffs would be added the very week the Xros Wars Ver.15th dropped, I probably wouldn't have bought it.
>>
>>
>>
The challenge of the Godzilla 70th makes it so much more fun. Tried going back to the Connection and it just isnt as interesting. Never going to touch the Paradise again.
Hopefully Digimon keeps this trend and the Godzilla Pend is also challenging. I unironically think the 70th is the best vpet.
>>
>>
>>11724280
What makes the Godzilla challenging? Is it that there are a variety of often somewhat specific care requirements to get certain characters?
I’ve definitely miscalculated on G-saibo (translator’s note: saibo means cells) a couple times, and ended up with an unexpected character, but I’ve never lost a guy prematurely or anything
>>
>>11725012
I was granted a cursed device that dies 90% of the time at stage 4 no matter what I do. The jokes on them though because this curse makes the device more engaging and I've run this one longer than any other of the vpets I have because of it.
>>
>>
>>11725673
I think my favorite part of the Tamagotchi Paradise was the level up/goal system it had. This fucking thing actually rolled credits at one point, and that created a very nice division between "let's play this thing naturally" and then "okay now let me read all the mechanics" after.
>>
>>
>>
>>11726055
MH is only other device that required 80%+ win rates for everything. Every other device has >80/<80 evos. Other guys were saying it was number of battles or saibos, which were also contributing factors but winrate was 100% the problem.
>>
after almost a month of zenin not giving my package to dhl i sent them an email questioning when they were going to do so and that i already contacted dhl and they said they haven’t received it and within 30 hours they gave it to dhl and now it’s being sent to me lol. they didn’t respond to my email either
>>
>>
>>
>>11726629

I don’t know if it’s just that I’ve been rotarded and feverish since starting these devices, but I’m having a Weird time with the Japan/China colour pendulums.
One i fucked up (78% win rate, didn’t realize), and so I get that. But the other made it to champion/adult and then got extremely fussy. Seemed to be rapidly losing hunger/strength, and tried to off itself seemingly at random with full meters.
I haven’t played any of the prior colour devices. Is there some mechanic I’m missing here? It kind of seems like the protein pills cause strength hearts to decline faster than training or something. Or do these start deteriorating more quickly if you miss their natural evolution window or something?
Also these things must get up super early. I’ll put them to bed with full hearts and when I check on them around 9, they’re fully depleted. I even shifted the time on one to give me an extra hour, and I came down to find the strength meter completely empty.
