Good news, Mattel Brick Shop launch was a success and it seems Mattel will make tie in products for Supergirl(?).
>ITPS gross billings fell 10% in the quarter, which Ruh attributed to continuing strategic exits in Baby Gear and Power Wheels and exits in preschool entertainment, with Fisher-Price declining modestly. Ruh said action figures performed particularly well, driven by Jurassic, Minecraft, and WWE. He also said building sets grew, supported by what management called a very successful launch of Mattel Brick Shop, and games grew primarily due to UNO, which achieved its tenth consecutive quarter of growth.

Simpsons is selling incredibly well in third world countries where simpsons is still insanely popular. Jakks prioritized those markets. You’ll see wall to wall Simpsons merch in the states next year when the movie comes out. It’ll look like the fucking early 90s between power rangers and simpsons being everywhere

AH! I used to go to the Toy Fair every year, I worked for [major toy company redacted] in the warehouse and used my vendor badge to sneak around and look at all the cool stuff. I lost that job and haven't gone for years now (before Covid! lol) but I miss going.
it was always the stuff you didn't expect to see that was the coolest. and I was there for the giant Skylander statues. those were neat to see

They can sell toys up to spring 2027, so yes what you see here will be their last hoorah. They might even still show TMNT stuff at toyfair next year but it'd be stuff that's already ready to ship.
Let's hope they do some good re-releases since it's the last time we'll see those molds ever again and or perhaps some new molds taht are surprises. It'd be a shame if the new molds are just for the awful Mutant Mayhem movie/cartoon line that's already cancelled and nothing else.

The upside for him is that he grew up in a time when golden age Simpsons was frequently rerun and easily available on DVD.
I remember having to wait forever to see You Only Move Twice and 22 Short Films About Springfield again.

>I wonder what happens to all that giant statue display event shit.
we asked, they said everybody asks (because they want to buy them!) they either go to the home office for the lobby prestige display, or the boss/artists take them home. or like the other guy said, they keep 'em in a warehouse for future events, then later they forget about them and maybe some warehouse guy gets it (?)
something like Disney is forced to "destroy" them, audited by like, an official Disney executioner who has to watch the destruction. Disney doesn't want their display stuff on the secondary market for (? reasons?)

I miss Skylanders like you wouldnt believe. They were the Reese's of toys. I boot up Trap Team, Imaginators, and Lego Dimensions every once in a while
>>11707806
I hope your current job is just as good. I used to sneak around E3, at least to where I had access as a civilian. Also it is pretty cool seeing all the hyped things be hyped at every convention, long before they're released and dead.

Fuck I just remembered in the 90s and early 00s someone stole prototype phantasy star online toys from ee so out of spite they never made them.

I am super curious if Mattel will reveal NON car mattel brickshop sets or not
I think they are great sets but have no interest to get them, that could chabge if they do playsets with microfigs at that level of quality
>>
>>11708864
>would be a BadAss time if those big dogs over at Mattel could listen to the true fans that know what's up in this crazy little world of ours, they better be bringing back those classic mega figs that helped build the company don't you know much like bionicle helped Lego during their financial crisis, oooh I'm such a badass thinking how kino I'll be when I roll up into Walmart and see a fresh new stack of kino building sets catered to my tastes

>I miss Skylanders like you wouldnt believe.
Skylander's art style was so amazing, like they pulled the designs right out of my personal thoughts about "what would be cool-looking, with a generous portion of cute, but mainly awesome" and the gameplay matched.
I forgot to mention that I remembered seeing the giant Skylanders statues at the Toys R Us in Times Square, so at least a couple of them wound up there until they closed down. maybe a lucky Toys R Us guy got a couple of 'em?
walking around NYC afterwards was a side-bonus to the Toy Fair. I had show totes full of heavy catalogs, the weather was usually the coldest I've ever experienced, and I usually hit up Dallas BBQ for an amazing dinner. (NYC pizza slices for lunch though!) ah... good memories.
it might be fun to take the train back in to the city just to hang around the lobby. there's a little bit of stuff in front of the gates to check out, and a 1% chance I can "borrow" the badge of somebody leaving (????!!! but I'm probably too timid to ask)
>>
>>
>>11708938
>so at least a couple of them wound up there until they closed down. maybe a lucky Toys R Us guy got a couple of 'em?
Everything cool at that Times Square Toys R Us was destroyed. Even that big T.rex just got fed into a woodchipper

The DC figures for kids? Why the fuck are you already bitching about DC figures when we haven't seen the collector stuff yet? The kids figures look ay better than any other DC kids figs in the past.
Each IP gets their own budget. Kpop isn't taking anything from DC.

>Are there any additional theatrical releases or anniversaries on the horizon that you are looking forward to supporting from a product standpoint?
>We have an incredible upcoming few years for product development, from our blockbuster season film slate to our many anniversary celebrations. Over the next two years, we have theatricals across our brands including “Frozen,” Princess, Pixar, Marvel, “Star Wars “and 20th Century. Disney and Pixar's “Toy Story 5” hits theaters this June, and product will excite fans of all ages building on the film’s “toy meets tech” angle and the growing sense of nostalgia for the 30-year legacy of the Toy Story franchise.
>For Marvel, opportunities for licensee collaborations are abundant. With “Avengers: Doomsday” coming later this year and “Avengers: Secret Wars” on the horizon in 2027, our teams are actively planning now with licensees to deliver a united, cross category program that builds anticipation well ahead of release. This momentum continues with “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” this year, followed by “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” next year which will engage core fans and further amplify Marvel’s magnitude within pop culture.
>>
>>11709761
>“Star Wars” also has a very exciting couple of years ahead with this year’s “The Mandalorian and Grogu” and “Star Wars: Starfighter” in 2027. “Star Wars: A New Hope” will also celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2027, marking a significant milestone for the brand, and we are bringing Star Wars Celebration to Los Angeles as well. The Star Wars galaxy has captivated generations of fans over the past five decades, and our product strategy will bring strong demand for the brand with exciting and unexpected collaborations and robust marketing and retail presence.
>Other upcoming milestones we are excited to support include “Winnie the Pooh’s” 100th publishing anniversary this spring and Disney and Pixar “Cars’” 20th anniversary later this year, as well as “The Simpsons” sequel movie in 2027.

Yeah the dumbass that runs the company changed his Facebook cover photo to the Contra logo four days ago and let the cat out of the bag. >>
>Produced by The Toy Association, the four-day trade and media-only show will open Saturday 14th February with a 9:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony and a parade of costumed characters. Immediately following the opening celebration, the show floor will welcome thousands of global play professionals from nearly 100 countries, from inventors and designers to retail buyers, licensors and media.
>“For four days, the 120th Toy Fair will bring the energy of the global toy industry to New York City, filling the Javits Center with imagination, innovation and a whole lot of fun. More than 720 exhibitors, including more than 170 up-and-coming companies making their debut in the US market, are set to unveil hundreds of thousands of creative, innovative and skill-building toys,” said Greg Ahearn, President and CEO of The Toy Association. “Attendees will dig into the trends and conversations shaping the toy industry through a variety of engaging seminars, expand their professional networks and discover new opportunities to drive their businesses forward. From spotting the next big hit to making the right connections, it all happens here.”

Once Todd is done with DC (of which I buy very very few) I will NEVER buy another Todd figure simply because of his bullshit limited FOMO tactics that make for so many "ebay exclusives" like Max Shreck with his impossible pre-orders and scalper bullshit. The other day I forgot about the Marvel Legends Secret Wars preorders and I STILL was able to get what I wanted hours later, unlike Todd's refusal to make enough to satisfy demand. Fuck you Todd.

This is just like the Fortnite boom for them, when they started transitioning all their figures from statues to articulated figures. For some reason they wanted to try statues again and the Blizzard lines went nowhere fast. I'm glad for the pivot. Arthas is looking pretty good so far, and it's always good to get a wired cape. Though with all the hands, hair, faces, this is probably another Elite Edition, and it's pretty hard to buy a sub-optimally articulated/designed figure at prices like those.

I don't know if you're old enough, but toy companies used to make mcstatues to test the water to see how much demand there is for a certain property. Statues and limited articulated figurines are much cheaper to produce than an action figure.
So McFarlane probably got more than enough orders for their Blizzard statues to see that there was demand to make fully articulated action figures.

All fun and games until the purchased units don't sell and the brand is marred to the retailers.

>What about doing some fucking Starcraft figures????
Not sure they have any license aside from WC and Diablo at this time. Not sure if you care for a smaller scale, but Joytoy recently announced they'll be doing Starcraft.
Also while I like the look of this Arthas well enough, I personally prefer the HOTS aesthetics of the NECA to the cinematic aesthetic of this one. Still can't believe the line was canceled before we completed the second wave with Brightwing and Murky and deluxe Diablo...

I thought they were some comic version where Scorpion and Sub Zero became robots only with an unusual variation due to not being from the games but some obscure comic. This is how generic Helldivers characters look.

Toy Fair is saving me a lot of money. There is very little to my interest so far this TF even in lines I collect. Rei and Asuka blokees look interesting as those characters are always overpriced everywhere, but I know they'll probably be overpriced even as blokees.

The public facing events like cons, live streams and social media reveals are for you.

Not him but why would retailers care to look at toys? For one thing, for Target, Walmart and Amazon, it's largely AIs doing the ordering now. A toy fair has no value to them. Is this for small toy stores or places like BBTS, EE, etc?
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11714578
Regardless if AI is doing the ordering, or if brands already have existing ties to retailers, these retailers are going to still want to see what these companies are offering. Are you actually this naive to believe that retailers are buying things blindly without any sort of preview of what's to come from a brand?

I definitely wouldn't say it's uncommon. I'm sure you're aware of the tech conventions that showcase robots, vacuums, computers, etc, just think those, or Toy Fair, but for other products. Let's also not forget that only recently is press at Toy Fair a thing, they used to be closed door, and only once in a while would we see or hear about leaks from these shows (think the recent German Toy Fair, where we would get shoddy pictures, or I still remember MCM London where someone snuck a pic of the Jazwares booth from the second floor and people were trying to identify all the Pokemon visible).

The same could be said for men bitten by radioactive spiders that gain the power to climb walls, but they don't exist in the real world. Anon might be a retarded bubbleboy, but but using cartoons and movies as evidence that something exists is pretty dumb.
And I've known people that were just as ignorant about the wider world before smartphones were ever invented. Do you remember when Jessica Simpson asked if tuna was fish or chicken? That was half a decade before the first iPhone.

trade shows in tv/movies/cartoons are used as a mundane setting, that are commonly found in the real world.
It's not a fantastical element like spiderman or traveling in a spaceship, and pre-zoomies, people understood this shit, because they actually went outside and didn't have their eyes glued to their smartphones all day.
You might as well be questioning whether malls and arcades exist too.
i know there's some third worlder who wouldn't believe such shit existed, because they live in such shitty areas where a 2 story building is a fantasy. Seeing 100 people in one place is also a fantastical element, so a convention where thousands of employees for retailers to just look at a certain type of product might as well be Star Wars.
And that is funny to me.
I remember neogaf having a thread where they discovered a Chinese forum that was incredulous about a neogaf thread where people were posting their video game collections. They were in such disbelief that people could own more than 10 video games, that the photos were shoops or people were putting their collections together to pretend a single person owned it.
Third worlders are hilarious like that, because something so common is seen as something special or outrageous
>>
>>11715177

i just find it funny how many third worlders are posting on 4chan now.
I thought second worlders like Brazilians were annoying, but at least they weren't making fools of themselves not understanding how first world countries operate.
You might as well pretend I'm a zoomie or millenial, given how much i've mocked them too
but i guess you're only mad at me mocking third worlders because you feel foolish that the first time you saw a 2 story building you thought a god lived there.
>>
>>11714577
When you're high enough on the totem pole, a lot of jobs just exist to be cushy expenses.
Toy Fair was a big factor in certain toylines getting nationwide distribution when there were far more retailers in the past. These days it largely exists to give buyers a trip out for a few days at company expense for the sake of morale, some toy execs probably hash out some plans for exclusives with retailer execs in this time. There's probably no real major changes, but it's just a way to keep ties up.
>>
>>
>>
>>11715195
>I thought second worlders like Brazilians
This is the result of retarded boomers that let the TV raise their kids. Not a fucking clue what is classified as a first, second, and third world country. I bet you've never opened a history book.
Boomers/Gen X/Millennials/Zoomers aren't the problem. It's intergenerational retardation like this that will ruin this country. Thankfully, this one didn't breed, because we all know his offspring would have been a retarded zoomer that was raised by Instagram and Snapchat.

developing nation = second world.
Yeah, i know all about how the third world actually meant shitty countries being used by commie nations, but no one since the 90s have used these terms like that... except for shitty third world countries who barely have been accessing the internet in the past 6 years or so and making 4chan worse because they got laughed at for not knowing that trade shows are a thing.

No. Third World is the what is used to describe developing nations these days. Second world has completely fallen out of use because it has no meaning in a post Iron Curtain era.
>Yeah, i know all about how the third world actually meant shitty countries being used by commie nations
Jesus fucking hell, is this the state of the Californian education system? Are you actually getting second and third world countries mixed up?
Third world countries are the ones that were unaligned with the west or commies. The reason the term third world is still used to describe developing nations is because most of these unaligned countries were in Africa, South America and the really shitty parts of Asia.
Keep replying. I want you to continue proving you are just as dumb and ignorant as zoomies and third worlders.
>>
>>11715277
>got laughed at so hard about not knowing what a trade show is, he wants go into the autistic details of words as they were used 40 years ago and wants to ignore the modern usage
Most of asia is the really shitty parts of asia. Only Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong weren't considered third world.... and I guess "aren't" since China is still mostly a shithole.
I think it's weird China is considered a superpower, yet most of the nation is as bad as India.
>>
>>11715281
>Most of asia is the really shitty parts of asia.
I really can't argue with that logic. I meant India, Indonesia, and the Stan's in central Asia. Vietnam and Malaysia are the shitty parts of Asia. The third world ones are the REALLY shitty parts of Asia. Give me the choice between Vietnam or Pakistan, and I'll be smashing down a banh mi before you can even mention Agent Orange. Plus I can get leaked Transformers from the Hasbro factory and start a YouTube channel.

Yeah, no. You're basically arguing whether dog shit is better than cat shit. China = India = Pakistan = Vietnam = Malasia = Vietnam = iran = iraq = Failpines, etc. There's a reason why most of these countries are used for their slave labor to make my toys.
Yeah, it's great that you want to get your toys earlier, but why settle for anything less than a first world country like Japan? The second world countries are about as good as Mexico or Brazil, but that's still pretty shitty.
>>11715289
Zoomers are pretty autistic due to never needing to leave their comfort zones, hence not understanding trade shows and not understanding that cold war terms turned into economy terms... which is a big no-no in the modern era of looking down on shittier countries that we'll still exploit but at least call them by nicer terms.
So here's them explanations for the sake of zoomies who were completely obvious and now want to pretend they totally knew everything before they got laughed at.

I didn't bother reading your greentext because I was about to sleep.
Firstly, I wasn't the zoomer that didn't know about trade shows, which you should have figured out by the fact I called him a retarded bubble boy. I was the one laughing at you using TV and cartoons as a benchmark for reality. A better example than Spiderman would be how 90% of what is on screen in hospital procedurals is completely unrealistic, like CPR/defib scenes. Just because something is on tv doesn't mean it's real.
Secondly
>he wants go into the autistic details of words as they were used 40 years ago and wants to ignore the modern usage
The modern usage is that developing nations are called third world countries.
Not second world countries like you tried to claim Brazil was.
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/second%20world
Underdeveloped country ISN'T in the definition.
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/third%20world
Underdeveloped country IS in the definition.
I outlined why developing countries are called third world countries since you clearly didn't know.
Brazil is not a second world country.
And the fact you tried to claim that third world countries were commie bloc shows that you've been using that term for god knows how long without knowing what it meant. You are like a child that mimics the words grown ups use without knowing their meaning.
>>
>>11715354
>Yeah, it's great that you want to get your toys earlier, but why settle for anything less than a first world country like Japan?
I see you are so retarded that you don't understand the premise of "if I had the choice between." Did you think I was saying I actually wanted to move to Vietnam? Are you so autistic that you can't grasp the concept of a hypothetical scenario?
>not understanding that cold war terms turned into economy terms
Are you going to ignore that someone (me) had to explain to you why developing nations are called third world in the current year because you thought second world country = developing nation?
You are, without a doubt, the dumbest sack of shit on this board. At least the zoomer had the sense to slink away after he showed his ignorance about trade shows. You are dumb enough to try and act like everyone else is wrong after proving your ignorance.
Unbelievable.
>>
>>
>>11715195
You've demonstrated time and again though how you're like 50 and stuck in the past of twenty years ago. The reason I feel like the third worlder thing is some form of projection is a combination of you bringing it up constantly, often times out of the blue, your ESL like tendencies where you misuse words like no nothing or diamond dozen, and the fact that your whole perception of how American culture works stems from early 90s teen sitcoms like Saved by the Bell and Boy Meets World. Just comes off as very second hand, like you watched it on TV and therefore you yourself experienced it. It's really weird.

I can't think it's anything but some grown middle aged Tron fanboy somehow managed to land a decent high ranking position at Disney and now he can finally after all these years force them to make sequels and merch for a movie that fucking failed in 1981.
>>
>>
>>11715457
>stuck in the past of twenty years ago.
It's not that I'm stuck in the past, it's that I went to school 20 years ago.
Sorry if i'm not using the modern era words like all the cool SJW kids, but just because the words have changed to not hurt the feels of shitty countries and their people doesn't mean the meaning behind them has. Facts don't change... unless we've already entered the 1984 world.
So people like >>11715444 are basically tone policing me, because they don't like that i picked on poorly educated third worlders (actually zoomers, but they're only butthurt about the third worlder part).
The fact that i use words like "second world" like college educated people did in the 90s and 00s actually proves I didn't learn this shit second hand, especially since dumb teen shows wouldn't talk about this shit.
... but you wouldn't know this because you're either a zoomer and/or a third worlder, thus know nothing about the US's past except what you can gleam from my posts and shitty teen shows like Boy Meets World and Saved by the Bell.

Oh and in case the pic isn't clear, this is kindlier, DEI way of viewing first, second, and third worlds.
Also, Brazil was a second world nation since at least the 90s. I don't know when India became one, because it's hard to believe it even became one. China became second world in the early 10s... maybe00s.
And knowing these facts doesn't make me Brazilian, Indian, nor Chinese. You third worlders/zoomers really have a really hard time understanding that education makes someone well versed on more than just yourself, your own country, and whatever utlra narrow autismo interests you have.
