I had two Game Stops close to me close like a year ago. The only other ones I would go to was in the mall, and the one directly across the street from it.

we have one in our small town, but their carpet got torn out recently and their clearance section is front and center now. do they fire sale everything near the end? I’d buy a bunch of figures they have if they were 75% off or something

Gamestop was the last remaining toy chain after TRU. It was just as marked up and hard to shop at unless you were lucky. I also have one last alternative name one, Planet X.

>When I do see a cool figure on their website
They are no longer stocking their stores as much as they use it - with a few exceptions, where those stores are actually well stocked. If you have a GameStop at a Mall, those are usually them. If you have a GS that is NEAR a mall, that's also usually them.
The one new GameStop location that opened in Los Angeles, opened in Beverly Hills right across from the Grove and Farmer's Market shopping District. They not only have more toys than most of their stores, they also have Magic and other card play games going on in their store.

The one in my suburb and then the one nearest to me, just last month, closed. I go to Hollywood once a month so I can hit the two stores over there easily but since they are short stocked, unless I pre-order something, I'm not likely to find it other than dumb luck, in person.

Yep, up until both stores near me closed, it was my go to. There are no Walmarts near me, they are even further away than the three nearest GameStops (and all of those are in other cities or suburbs in my Metro Area). And the Targets near me, except one, are the tiny gussied up grocers/pharmacy's no bigger than a Walgreens. They have one tiny aisle of toys which is one third to one half basic bitch LEGO, hard plastic toys for kids, maybe one Marvel Legend, SpinMaster for DC, and basic bitch TMNT, Transformers, Turtles, etc.

I hate to break it to you, boomer, but this is a toy board. We're discussing GameStop as a seller of toys and collectibles, not vidya. Keep up, grandpa.

I've had more luck getting McFarlanes at Best Buy and there's actually one down the street from me, about two miles away. And since I'm a 'loyalty' rewards member from ages ago, I get free shipping to the store, which is the easiest way to do a pre-order.
With fucking GameStop, doing a pre-order to a store is easy, but they fuck those up all the time. Only a pre-order to my actual house gets me what I want, but that requires hitting the minimum.

My Gamestop went out of business last year and even then it was a huge shit show by the end.
>>Refused to get in new toys; anything new had to be pre-ordered/paid for via the website and set to deliver at the store.
>>Shelf filled with unsold Star Wars Black crap
>>When they announced they were closing, corporate mandate BANNED them from cutting prices of their remaining stock claiming it was going to be boxed up and sent out to other stores
>>Last time I went there, right after they announced they were closing I tried to get a used copy of Super Mario RPG for the Switch that they had on clearance for $40 and had been on on clearance for about three months but when I took it to the register, the clerk told me that corporate was banning them from honoring any clearance prices, telling me they had to charge full price for a game that wasn't even freaking new.
And the closing has made the local Walmart even more brazen as they pretty much stopped carrying new toys period and still refuse to fucking clearance off the unsold stock they have that dates back to 2021/2022 and Ollies hasn't gotten in any new action figures for a full year.

>Walmart even more brazen
WM has to do what their district tells them. They have sucky distribution, which is why you see people posting GI Joe on clearance but other people say their stores in their town never even gotten.
Just replaces GI Joe with Sonic, Turtles, DC, Marvel or whatever other toy franchise you want, and it's the same thing.
It's only basic bitch shit like LEGOs or Fisher Price (and even then it's probably the most BASIC of basic bitch shit of that type/style, etc. of plastic crap) that's at every single store.
Target is the same thing. People were paying fucking scalper fortunes for that Psylocke two pack, then it was on clearance at a few stores, and then it's on the store for ordering, which is free, since fucking Target only requires $35 to get free shipping to home.
All that is just their distributions are fucked up, it has nothing to do with some store lead or some store employee deciding to fuck your particular town over Because GameStop closed.

Fuck them.
Like other dudes mentioned, none of the shit in the website is ever actually in stock at stores. Everytime I go to the store its just funko pops, and dogshit t-shirt/hats of videogame/anime shit that is only worn by usually the most unkempt subhuman types imaginable.
Second, they have the gayest free shipping qualifier. I think its like $80 bucks.
Third, they are like BBTS where they just add money to the retail price of shit for no fucking reason.
Fourth, if you buy games from them they ship you shit that doesn't even have cases or are opened games marked as "new".
Faggots

When I went to Game Stop this afternoon to return my Zatanna figure I pre-ordered from their website, they shouldn't didn't LOOK closed?
Are you lying to me again, 4chan?
I thought that week in prison for deception cured you of that, or are you hoping to go back and have another prison gang bang?

Are you going to cry now?
Do you want your mommy to kiss it and make it feel better?

Does anyone remember the days when there was a Gamestop every 2 miles or so? Sometimes they were across the street from each other?
The real issue is that they massively overreached back in 2008 and opened way too damn many stores for their regions.

It seems to really depend on the store.
The shitty ones are just funkos and magic cards with maybe a rack of shorts and socks in the back.
The nicer ones will have everything separated out with Marvel figures, retro figures, TMNT/Transformers stuff, and then some props in a nicer display.

Yeah I miss funcoland. Our town had one since the early 90s and I would go there to get all my retro carts. They'd have giant bins of loose NES games for cheap and gave me good prices.
Then Gamestop took that store over in 2000 or so and that was it. Also got rid of the employees too.
EB Games was fun too, we had one in the mall half an hour north of here. They carried PC games, but once Gamestop took them over, that ended.

There's a better stock of action figs at my GS than anywhere else in town, earlier this month picked up a figure on clearance for $0 as my membership monthly $5 covered the asking price. Then picked up a Stair Wars fig for $5 instead of $25 last week. Store is clean, staff are great, customers are a way better breed than tarshit or ghettomart. Best toy store in town by a mile.
