Uh no. But I’m sure it’s taking less time copying the engine engineering from the original toys rather than coming up with a whole brand new design.
That said I’m kind of worried that with them just going with the main ones for each season, we’re not going to get what I really want which is a new ShogunMegazord

The Kaiju Rangers are a really cool concept (obviously) that are unfortunately flawed in execution. The White Ranger is also involved in the comic, but he doesn't get any kaiju powers for some reason, and HE'S the one that should be King Caesar. Pink should be Rodan, Yellow should be Mothra... Maybe make Red Gorosaurus? Make Black Maguma? At the same time, while obviously Green/Dragonzord/Godzilla makes the most sense, not having Godzilla be the leader doesn't feel right. Also none of the suits' designs are consistent with each other at all.

Green Ranger stuff has been Walmart exclusive for some incredibly stupid reason. White Ranger not being on display suggests to me that he will follow suit. The figure exists.
>>

>>
>>11711603
How is this impressive? It's a fraction of what Bandai was putting out in it's peak. We used to get
>two main Megazords
>a sixth zord
>one carrier zord
>one or two support mini zords
>full set of rangers
>multiple ranger variants
>villains, both a chunk of the main cast and some MOTWs
>8'' figures
One Megazord a year is like the least they could do.
>>
>>
>>11711825
Oh, I was hardly recommending losing either Rodan or Mothra, obviously they're must haves, plus I like the idea of the girls having the flying support mechs (like the Zeo Zords, except not useless). I feel like Gorosaurus is arguably roughly as popular as King Caesar and Baragon are. I feel like he'd be fairly easy to market, too.

The rep mentions there's one behind closed doors he "totally can't even mention" and jokes with Dan about White Ranger stuff that's also not being shown, and mentions role play items that are "good ideas" and they're just waiting for a retail partner to bring them, making it clear in a roundabout way they've at least developed it and are mostly keeping it under wraps, probably just in case something happened where it all couldn't release

Why aren't they on display? They have their first two villains from season 2 on display which don't release until end of the summer, yet the final two season 1 villains which were displayed at Toy Fair a year ago and should be releasing this spring are conspicuously absent. That's highly discouraging. It would be nice if we ever had someone asking good questions at these shows. The fact that Pixel Dan doesn't ask about Dragonzord is nuts. Especially after the Playmates rep mentions they are doing Tigerzord and it's there behind closed doors. How does one not respond to that with "What about the Dragonzord?" It's literally the most popular single Zord in the history of the franchise.

That doesn't make any sense. Why would Godzilla wear the skin of Dragonzord when he already combines into an armor to be worn by others in the first place? You claimed Godzilla needs to wear the armor, which he is doing in the pics provided, and now you were not satisfied with that? You want more?

Finally some answers concerning Dragonzord
>>
>>11712990
Damn if only there was some price point retailers already signed up to stock that's bigger and pricier than the standard zords, features electronics and that no one actually likes that you could stick dragonzord in as a wave 2 of.
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>11713069
There's numerous reasons retailers wouldn't want it, and I'm gonna say the biggest one is the size. A Dragonzord to scale with Playmates' Megazord would take up a lot of shelf space, and since Toys R Us is no longer in business, shelf space comes at a premium at places like Target and Walmart who only dedicate an aisle to action figures. For all of Hasbro's faults in killing Power Rangers, it certainly didn't help that they bought it at the worst possible time, right as Toys R Us went out of business. Without Toys R Us, the expansive toylines with multiple large items we were accustomed to from Bandai just weren't possible.
Then in addition to that, retailers were likely shy to pull the trigger on a toyline for a 30 year old show with no new media after Hasbro's offerings underperformed. The first year of Reignition was about building back retailer trust, and showing them that Power Rangers can sell well when priced affordably and targeted to the right demographic, which isn't 40 year old men. Last year the line was seen as too big a risk for retailers to bite on Dragonzord. This year they ARE biting on Tigerzord, so that tells me the line is doing a good job of reestablishing Power Rangers as a viable brand for young boys.

Wrong, there's absolutely nothing that actually suggests that. That's just some misinformation some retard on twitter spread because he didn't understand what a master license is.
>>

No, a retard was told by a Hasbro rep at Toyfair when asked about Lightning collection continuing that Playmates didn't have the master license. Then that retard spread around that they only had the license to MMPR.

As said last thread: Now that the Tyrannosaurus Zord's sticker is fixed, should I bite the bullet and get all of them? The factor that the Mastodon Zord's elbows are stuck sideways meaning it can't hold it's shield in a non-stupid way is a major turn-off.
>>
>>
>>11711540
>>11711546
That Godzilla is proof they'll be fine if they reroute all their resources to Goji and Kong.
>>
>>11713598
Why wouldn't they? Last year they showed a bunch of stuff cause they were launching the line from scratch. I'm sure there are more than two evil space aliens planned for season 2, they just aren't show them all at once. The Rita/Putty case released in September. The Baboo/Goldar case released in January. That would make May a likely release for Squatt/King Sphinx. Then September for Zedd/Z-Putty. It fits perfectly. The Playmates rep said Walmart would once again get an early exclusivity endcap in July, so I imagine Zedd will get an advanced release there similar to Rita. There's no reason we shouldn't expect Rito and a Tenga to follow suit come the first wave of season 3.
>>
>>
>>11713484
Yeah, I really don't understand why they keep trying to lock the most popular character's stuff behind an exclusivity window. I can't imagine whatever pittance Playmates is being paid for the exclusivity is better for the brand's success than wide availability. People are fickle, why make it more difficult for them to buy your products if you don't have to?

Yeah, I appreciate the fact that someone finally made them, but being in a scale I don't care for kind of ruins it. I wish Playmates would give us a 5" Bulk and Skull. Season 2 only has 4 new Automorphins, so they could slot in there.
>>11713279
They're way too big for Lightning Collection Rangers, though they work well with the oversized Lightning Collection monsters.

Well now, since we have no idea how the future waves are going to work with how many characters and all that, I suppose we'll have to forgo any fun/cool/new characters like Centiback and Crabbie Cabbie, so I present to the thread a revised Season 3/MMPRTM joint wave of Evil Space Aliens.

I really hope they don't touch the movie. Nothing Playmates releases would come close to Bandai's 2015 movie figures, and Bandai even made an Ivan in that line, so he's already had two 5" figures. The Ooze Men would be the only thing I'd care about, as it always bugged me that they didn't get figures back in the day. But ultimately, I'd rather have Crabbie Cabbie than any movie villain.

Hasbro recently said Playmates Toys has reenergized the brand.
https://www.licenseglobal.com/toys-games/10-minutes-with-hasbro-on-how -it-is-redefining-licensing-in-the- u-k-with-nostalgia-innovation-and-f an-first-strategies
>And yet they can't find a place for the Dragonzord
They couldn't last year when the line was new and unproven. Now Tigerzord is wanted, so the sentiment has changed. I'm sure someone will scoop up the Dragonzord soon enough. The only issue is the timing.
The Dragonzord makes the Megazord more appealing. A lot of people won't buy a Megazord without a corresponding Dragonzord. It happened in the Legacy line. As soon as the Legacy Dragonzord was revealed the demand for the Legacy Megazord exploded, and any remaining stock was quickly depleted. The Legacy Megazord aftermarket prices got stupidly high until Bandai eventually reissued it.
What these retailers don't understand is that by not having a Dragonzord available at the same time as the Megazord, or at least announced, they are seriously gimping their Megazord sales. Releasing a Dragonzord later, when the Dinozords are no longer available, will cause the same problem the Legacy line had. If Playmates is smart they'll make sure the Dinozords are available somewhere if/when the Dragonzord eventually releases.

>Titanus
I don't think most people realize the monumental impact Toys R Us closing had on the toy industry. Toys R Us allowed for giant shit no one wanted like the Lion Fire Fortress Zord to exist. If they hadn't gone out of business you'd have 100% gotten Dragonzord and Titanus from Playmates in year 1.
>>
>>
Would've been nice if they had used this as an opportunity to right the wrongs of Bandai and give Tommy his proper details.
>>
Boxes similar, but don't show the actors like the originals did. They're also not using the character names, instead naming the Rangers by color in 3 different languages.
>>

I wouldn't mind a new Mordant. The figure we got back in 1995 looks like the sculptor just had a quick peek at Mordant, waited a month, then tried to recreate him from memory and then accidentally gave him Squatt's proportions.

Not only would "fixing" the Green Ranger have been nice, I would've also liked it if we could've finally gotten the Rangers without the Power Coin symbols on their chests... and finally maybe get 8" versions of the Power Weapons for all six Rangers. But at least the chest symbols.
Though at least the Blade Blasters are colored this time.

Gordy made a bendable Mordant with a movie accurate sculpt in scale. That's the one I use. Bandai was clearly using early production designs, which is why their figure is so off-model.
The same thing happened with Lord Zedd. Though what's crazy is Bandai released new 5" and 8" Lord Zedd figures the following year using the same off-model design instead of fixing them to reflect the show's appearance.

They've only been releasing two at a time, so these are likely just the first two of the season 2 line. There's nothing to suggest the Evil Space Aliens aren't selling well and would be scaled back. My local Targets keep stocking them and they keep selling out, so I'm optimistic.

the biggest issue and why MMPR dominated so much of the perception of PR is that every theme between MMPR and In Space was so much weaker. The Thunderzords are cool but the blue and yellow zords are just weak, Tor is a downgrade from Titanus. And even with In Space, the Mega Voyager zords were kinda dull individually.

>>
>>11722191
That was when they were launching the line and shopping different things around to retailers to see what they'd bite on. It may have been the original intention to have the six evil space aliens as a single wave, but retailers didn't have enough faith in them selling to commit to more than two at a time. In year 2 Playmates have a better sense of where the line stands, so they can be more focused in what they show. If Rita and the season 1 Putty sold well enough to get Goldar and Baboo in January before any other wave 2 product, Zedd and the Z-Putty should have no problem moving enough units to get another wave after that.

Blame the retailers who weren't interested in carrying Dragonzord. Now that the line has proven successful there's willingness to carry Tigerzord. People seem to forget that all of the Legacy Zords were Toys R Us exclusive at the time of release. I know the Megazord reissue was carried by online retailers like Entertainment Earth, but I can't recall any other physical store carrying it, or any of the other Legacy Zords seeing release outside of Toys R Us. Even with the toy landscape being dramatically different 13 years ago, only a big dedicated toy store like Toys R Us was willing to carry the stuff.
