Kotobukiya collection! Wow! It's nothing!
New Arcanadea! With no names! Exorcist Hell Blaze! That was announced months ago!
New 30ms!
Myasti! She's Egyptian! More colors for existing options! Paladin Mash from the Fgo collab! A costume for Illshana? What was your favorite? Should there have been more? Will you make a pirate girl with the new Spinatio? Will 30ms have any more girl specific option parts? Should they? Who else should be part of the FGO collaboration?

Kagutsuchi really feels like she's missing something with how simple she is out of box, something I don't think I've felt with any other Frame Arms Girl kit.
Fortunately the frame arms version has a specific upgrade kit designed for it, and it's easily altered to work with her down to even having holes on the side of her knees to attach the front legs to them.

I really like how this looks, with a bit of thought you can even attach her stock back skirt and sub arms to the back of the frame on the back legs, meaning she can still use the super large weapons the base version was designed to use.
I wish I could find my selector rifle, it would be perfect here.

Big Lumitea is up again on Hobby Search if anyone missed the first round of pre-orders. I realize she's been up on HLJ this whole time, but I refuse to give them the satisfaction. I wanted to order somewhere that would actually fill and ship my order in exchange for my money, instead of just taking my money and going to the pub.

Does anyone know what the best topcoat for flesh parts is? I'm trying to replicate the sort of soft texture that a lot of the base plastic skin colors have without any luck. Tamiya matt on top of lacquer is how I have been doing it so far, but it doesn't look (or feel) quite right...
Thanks for your help.

I wonder if the p-bandai acerby is going to be Sestieh or Raidira colored or worse, a new color.
>>
>>11712452
The skin for all girlpla is simply matte plastic. So you just have to find a brand's matte you like and go with it. Maybe play around with layers of it a bit since that changes the look a smidge.
>>11711923
I think the simplicity is part of her charm though. You get a brand new (great) body, some fun parts, and a simple design that's easy to build on top of. It's like a short breather since almost every single non-30MS girlpla release is super crazy detailed almost to a detrimental level these days.

>>11712559
I feel like I need something that diffuses light a little so that the surface LOOKS satin, I don't know how to explain it, I've seen paint jobs that look almost like they're patialy transparent, and I assume it because of how the topcoat texture affects the light hitting it.
I'm not talking about having different primer and base coat colors, it is the top coat doing it.
>>
>>
>>11712573
Hrm, it's probably a combination of the camera settings used, and the actual paint job below the topcoat because almost all people in this hobby (Jap, Chink, or otherwise) use the same shit for topcoats in the exact same way- it's almost always either Gaia EX10 flat clear (which is typically regarded as the best hobby-grade matte finish out there), Mr. Hobby GX114 super smooth clear flat (generally regarded as the runner up in this regard), or regular Gaia flat. Nothing special in terms of spraying techniques or thinning ratios. Just those things on top of the kit. Same goes for all the literal professional-tier guys you probably look at. So what you're seeing and trying to make sense of is probably just a combination of their camera settings and however it is they painted the skin.

If you're not painting, use a sanding sponge.
I personally use 3M Superfine. It's somewhere in between 320-400 grit.

Aliexpress is 100% trustworthy when it comes to Japanese model brands. The last time a Koto girl, for example, was bootlegged, was 8 or so years ago. For Bandai stuff it basically never happens. Some parts and style of doing things might be copied, but you'll never order... I dunno, an MG Zaku 2.0 or some shit and get a knockoff. China, even though it's a land of thieves, for some reason doesn't fuck with a lot of companies anymore. Maybe they have criminal extradition laws with Japan now that they actually enforce or something.

Considering the updated versions of the initial three are basically the Full Armor Alto/Portanova of 30MS, it fits (not sure if you can count the Liber Commander Armor Set as a Full Armor Alto situation for 30MF since it's just starting its second year right now). They all have additional equipment that evolves the originals as well (Rishetta Freesia Wear has the Dash Unit in place of the Speed Armor, Tiasha Dahlia Wear has the Float Unit, but can still combine with the Flight Armor for the complete look, and Luluce Lily Wear has the Climb Unit in place of the Heavy Armor).

I bought like 5 koto/bandai kits off Ali and they have been fine. The boxes were just slightly dented.

Not the six trillion and one new takes on a given mobile suit design. It's Miku-colored, but Kotobukiya built plenty of Mikus, so they made one of their own (not counting the Figure-rise LABO, which is a worthless display piece in my eyes if we have articulate figures anyway).
All right, theory time. When the 30MF Liber Commander Armor Set comes out this June, try equipping it on the 30MS Yufia. Hope this looks good.

It's just connecting the arcitect legs to her back hardpoint. Works really well since the front square hole on the architect takes the place of her stock one. I added one of the t bars from the architect elbow to the skirt joint so the subarms and back skirt could still fit.
Stability is no problem. She's now heavy as hell, but with the koto stand in the short configuration it holds fine. The only weak point is that the hips may need some adjustment to not sag from the front leg armor, but it isn't serious. As for standing on her own... she has four legs now, she's fine.
I like that she ends up with an almost xamel like silhouette from the back legs and armor.

I didn't enjoy the building this as much as I thought. It's not that it's in 1/24 scale.
The kit itself isn't bad, and i didn't see any issues with it.
I kinda hate how half the box was basically that little backdrop and the amount of spare/option parts you cannot really use after you're done.
Wish the main body was in black to complete the maid look.
I attempted to pick some of the details up with a real touch marker.
One kit could've easily been a duo pack if you'd simply gotten another body in the box.

Fellow oldfag here, I think they made a comeback, and especially in Japan for the gayru look. Fortunately, other crimes against fashion from the same era like women's suits with shoulder pads and neon colors on everything seem to have remained in the past.

The completed figure is 8cm tall, about the size of a handscale FAG (pic)
The box is 25x18x7cm - I'd guess about a size of a small HG like z'gok.
I'm mostly annoyed that you could've gotten something more instead of the backdrop, like that egyptian themed one the same company put out.

God, my mother had one of those things. I thought it looked ridiculous, even as a child. But yeah, I forgot Japan is still a little behind on the American culture thing - Disco and karaoke bars are still popular over there, after all.

She's similar enough in height to Susanowo, and Tsuku/Ama-chan, so she won't look too out of place with MDs in terms of height. However, she still looks like she'd absolutely MOG AND DESTROY all the other girls out there simply because of how much more mass she has in general. Her thighs, tits, and belly probably have the mass of your average MD's base body. Girl's a monste- err, big boned.

Back when these were more affordable/available, the ability to army build meant you could build substantial bases with those display pieces. The problem was more that they come with a shitload of alternate parts that you end up having to store.
Anyway, you’ll be happy to know that their more recent releases have done away with the bases/turned them into display stands.

New chasis are mostly compatible with M or S bodies. You will get a head adapter to use with Block2 and I think PUNI MOFU line to use movable eyes with. Also blank bodies are nice for this price if you don't want to pay premium for full hentai bodies from booth.
Thigh diameter on the chasis is only compatible with old ASRA kits ( too narrow for puni MOFU or block2, but in general can be connected, as all the pegs are the same 3mm diameter)

A while ago someone here mentioned that "early" MD kits have some issue with the legs.

Arsia, a not-nazi girl made by Humikane: https://www.kotobukiya.co.jp/en/product/detail/p4934054029945/
I find it funny how anime stuff has become less and less lewd over time, but Humikane has gone the opposite way and his newer designs are way more horny than his previous stuff like strike witches.

Not often enough to maintain stock or even fill backorders. You may see some extra pop up on small local sites, but large widely known ones usually overcharge.
I got my Mikolulu for cheaper than retail day one by stalking yahoo auctions, and bbts fulfilled my second one before HLJ... who still has me on backorder.

Somehow, option part set 16 is cheaper than buying just a hair part...? I might need to go back and grab it.
>>

>>11717790
>I'm going to need to try to find this store again.
been there... later i made a note which kit was at which store because the pricetags usually didnt have a store name on them
i think on my next trip i'll cut everything out of the runners, put em in bags and toss the box. would pain me to do that but can probably increase the amount of kits i can bring tenfold
>>
>>11717862
I usually throw the boxes out anyway, maybe I cut the cover off and save it if I like the art, but the cardboard is the easiest thing to lose. if it really bothers you, you could collapse the box and then tape them back together when you get home, there'd still be a huge volume savings.
>>
>>11717780
To question 1, Hres Rapid Raider has 80% of her full kit with several recolored parts and a full bike. Albus has two cheap msg lances instead of her guns, and didn't sell well because she immediately had to contend with Cornix, a much cooler recolor.
Answer two is nine-tails homura, an event limited recolor the same price as the original. I picked her up for 18 dollars.
>>
>>11717758
The Hamburger kits didn't sell well in general past a certain point. There's a comically large saturation of variant kits, and they never really improved on the problems of the original. It's well-known at this point (and, well, for years now) by the girlpla community that, as cool as she looks, the power armor Hres kits are ungodly fiddly as fuck. The only people that really get those kits anymore are hyper-fans.
>>
>>11717928
Big part of the fiddliness is that her body isn't exactly the most stable. The backpack, while having lots of joints is fairly simple, as are the individual chunks of the frame arms by itself. Everything starts flopping around once it's all attached to her. The backpack is still fine, but now the arms with their strange mid bicep hinge are a pain to manipulate without bumping the back kibble. Same deal with her head and the associated joints, especially because of the poor collar design. Her legs cause a load of problems. Her hips droop, the thigh ring that her boosters are on move too easily often making the whole leg fall down, or off entirely.

I honestly don't understand why Bandai won't increase production of 30MS kits if they sell out so quickly. When they started with 30MM, restocks were common and huge in numbers. Fast forward and yesterday color C version of Sister Phantasm outfit appeared in my usual shop and went out of stock as soon as I bought one while that pink Japanese sister with flail was already out of stock when I got back from work. It makes no sense - clients obviously want to buy them, why artificially limiting stock?
>>
>>11718120
I don't know why they're so slow with some items, but didn't have a problem with the 30MM dude who came out last week. They charged me for him without a problem. Waiting for the Kemopla cat and the new Hexa Gear dude now.
>>
>>11718225
The either hate money, or foreigners, or both.
Rumor has it they hate foreigners in particular because of scalpers, so you can't get shit online, when the real problem are these assholes walking into stores buying entire pallets.
>>
>>
>>
>>11718225
>>11718291
Do we know for sure they're limiting stock?
Like, do we have information on production numbers and times, logistics, and any other factors?
>>
>>
>>
>>11718225
>>11718312
It's really a logistic problem, most of 30ms kits are sold at discount in China, even if some kits are popular and got scalped it rarely last for more than a year or two due to reissues. It's either Bandai just can't figure out how to do business outside Japan, East and Southeast Asia, and US where they have partnerships for decades or the markets in other areas are not big enough for Bandai to care that much about. They even had P-Bandai opened in Europe and it only last less than a year so I don't think it's Bandai not consider expanding in new market but something it's preventing them going further.
>>11718312
The whole it's foreigner scalper who made us good japs not be able to buy kits shit was mostly during Covid and was primarily targeting Chinese, it had some truth behind that as some Chinese old people(have a lot of free time) and other tourists (don't need to pay tax) got hired by scalpers to buy large batch of kits in store when the demand skyrocketed. It led to a lot of stores demanding the customer to say the full name of the kit to be able to buy it and a Chinese old lady reacted by shouting being discriminated, but of course she can't say the name of kit.
Bandai did prevented the Japanese domestic online stores to sell kits to International stores at the time as one of the measure to counter the domestic scalpers issue, but the truth of the scalper issue was far more serious than that. It was exposed latter that some of offline stores in Japan are acting as scalpers by selling the kits cheap to their own staff and then buy it back so they can sell the kit as used. Even worse a hobby japan editor accidentally leaked that Bandai didn't give shit about the scalper issue as long as their products are shipped out, and one of the largest domestic distributor of Bandai was rumored doing scalping as well.

NTA, but Surugaya had a free shipping campaign and a sale going on until today.

what's a good price for Devil Strarf and is she worth buying as a lazy straight-builder?
>>
>>11719428
Her straightbuild is pretty solid. Very little (if any) color correction needed, only the typical seamlines on the girl's body that need dealing with (the mecha parts have none if irc), some nifty part separation in areas you'd typically expect them to skimp out, and an overall cool aesthetic. Super solid kit. Heavily recommend it so long as you can find it for an agreeable price.

Strarf a cute. The BIS version has more stuff, and I'm personally partial to the "Angelic" white version(s) of her (and "Fallen" black versions of Arnval), but you can't go wrong with any version of the kit, really - especially if you were a fan of the original toy, as she's everything the old one was intended to be.
>>
>>
>>11719789
I still don't understand the price difference between the two. The new version only comes with like, one extra (small) runner of parts and is otherwise the same as the original. Meanwhile it's twice the cost. It's not even new either, and is pretty easy to find on the aftermarket. Did Koto just go full-retard in that regard or something?
>>
>>11719998
I think it simply comes to the fact that newer = bigger price.
Besides, you are looking at aftermarket pre-owned prices.
Bigger kits tend to end up being cheaper and plentiful as pre-owned because (I assume) people get overexcited and then never pick them up from the backlog because of the size.
I'm also guilty of that where I'd rather start another small-medium sized kit rather than one of the big boxes.

I had to pass over 4100 yen Jinrai Lancer, 4300 yen stinger missile arisa, 3900 yen damaged box knight-chan, 4500 yen clown color velretta, 3600 yen bir-m chassis kit, and 4800 yen Night Czar and 9200 yen tsukiyomi regalia. >the front girl looks something I'd grab myself if it ever got a revamp
That's Renge, and surprisingly, I actually still have her out of storage, so here's a fresh pic of her! She's a Nine-Tailed Fox inspired Shinki - in armored-up mode, she gets nine different swords/daggers that can be held separately, plugged into a big connector on her back to form nine fox tails, or separate into a pair of big, slashy-claws she can mount to her arms; there's also a handle to turn the whole thing into a spiked club. Her unarmored mode doesn't normally have that grey fox tail - I borrowed that one from my Fubuki Type 1 (Winged ver.), who I usually keep in Crow Tengu mode and thus don't use it with.
Renge's toy is cute, but it was her personality in the Battlemasters MK2 game that made me fall in love with her - she and her wavemate/sister, Gabrine, were made by a security firm in-universe, modeled after legendary guardian monsters with the intention of having them guard their Masters' personal belongings and act as home security while (you) were away. Your Renge in the game gets really into this role, to the point where she genuinely believes she's a real Fox Spirit, and gets really smug about it - except the reality is that she scares easily and is particularly terrified of ghosts, which makes her comically bad at her intended job until you help her get over it.

She's an extremely good kit. Very easy to clean up nubs due to them using some sort of slightly softer plastic on all the mechanical bits. Articulation is actually SHOCKINGLY good for such a ham-golem. Like other anon said, before sandwiching in joint parts make sure you pop them on their respective peg and test the tightness. Non-Bandai girlpla tend to have extreme tightness issues leading to easy snapage, so solve that before it becomes a problem. General rule of thumb is that a joint should be able to hold up against the force of its respective limbs and accessories, but not against the force of your hands. If you have to actually TRY to move the joint, then it's almost assuredly too tight and should be sanded down.
>>
>>11721434
Fortunately Kagutsuchi doesn't have any joint problems. Her worst joint is her thigh swivels occasionally working free due to weight, and that's only subjective, since >>11711932 makes her legs heavy as hell.

Gii's Giis are not small by any means. I wish I had luggage space left.

The fucking barcode doesn't work. How much are these naked faces and how do they work with existing kits?

That galholic figure is such an enigma in some ways
>ugly double jointed knees
>squat piece included anyway
>painted sample for the promo photo shoot
>seams not removed
I kinda do wanna get Nanaho, but not at nearly 8k yen. Are all 8 of her faces even prints?
Gii is less than 8.7k yen and comes with 5 printed faces, multiple effect parts and a bunch of alternative parts.

All of the Arcanadea kit boxes tend to be. You can see just how big in >>11722789 - that's her box right under her display. On addition to the massive clawed wing, she also comes with arguably the most accessories of any Arcanadea kit so far, so it's not like the box size is in any way unjustified even though she herself is the smallest girl in the line so far.

Does Color C sell well? Bandai just seems to have a surprising amount of darker skin girls compared to other girlpla lines, although I'm not sure if it's just cause of how high their output is. I appreciate it as a brown girl enjoyer.

I'm assuming you have Velretta - every other kit after those two has had pretty massive boxes, as the figures all have gotten more elaborate (Yukumo's tail is about as big as her entire body, Elena's lower torso is a whole horse, Ermeda has six huge wings in her armored up mode, Meltina's snake half is LONG, and so on).

Ha ha ha ha... Ha. Unfortunately I ordered her from HLJ too, I'm assuming they'll wait their customary 3-7 days before actually allocating their stock to people who preordered. Man, I can't wait for the pre-orders I have with them to run their course. They went to shit in such a hurry I'm stuck with a bunch. My plan after that is to only use them for stuff my other regular shops don't carry.

considering the amount of unique choco girls (Luluce, Ilshana, Siana, Setiesh, Marical) and optional parts, I'd say yes, plus there's a big amount of tools available to make your own custom choco gal if you want.

Did you end up being charged yet?
I never had any PO issues with kotobukiya shit so it may just be slow (I didnt get charged yet either). Besides her im also waiting for my 30 ms so im sure youll get your gii.

>Did you end up being charged yet?
No. But then it took them a week to change anyone for Kagutsuchi. This I why I'm moving away from them, I can't stand the days of anxiety over wether they are going to fill my preorder or not.

Same, it is god awful. While I do have faith WHEN i order within the first 5-10 minutes of opening, it is a blue ball ass wait for them to confirm it.
My friend is in japan right now and this just came into stock but it would be a dick move to ask him to get me the new 30ms kit when I already preordered this kit from hlj along with gii, havent been charged for either but I bought both within minutes after they opened on the site.

The real blue ball here is pics like yours. Wondering if you'll be able to get a certain kit, or get it for a reasonable price, meanwhile shops in Japan have them stacked 20 deep because of scamdai giving them priority. HLJ has been better at getting koto kits eventually, but damn have they ever gotten slow.

That reminds me I messed up building mine I should get her out and fix her. Not that that has anything to do with the kit, I messed up. If you've built a Megami device, she'll seem very familiar, just a little simpler outfit and a bit hornier design than MD usually goes.
