They got rid of the suction cups?

They've been gone for a very long time, around late 200X blaster design shifted from muzzle loaders where the tip could be anything to mag-fed stuff with breech mechanisms so the dart heads needed to not be wider than the foam. A lot of stuff was still revolvers or muzzle loaders but they used the newer darts for everything so they'd all be cross compatible. They tried these at one point but they didn't work very well, otherwise it's all just been stuff with little foam nubs at the end

The foam flinging hobby died with Coop.

I don't understand why everyone is so obsessed with coop

from what I can tell there's no slide action, otherwise this could've been the greatest foam sidearm release in a long time

Personally, he was the only Nerftuber I could stand watching.

That said, it's not so much about about Coop himself but just when he stopped doing his show. He was essentially a canary in the coal mine as he dropped doing videos right as the hobby turned to crap.

it would serve 0 mechanical purpose, but the emotional response would be off the charts

It seems like most of the nerf world is switching to half-darts.

Is there any old blasters that Can't use half-darts or be modded to use them?

Longshot? Maverick? Stryfe?

Sorta considering cutting all my darts and maybe using the back half for Stefans to double stock.

Anything with dart posts won't work with half lengths unless you remove them. Anything with magazines or internal magazines made for full lengths won't work with half lengths. Most breech loaders won't work either because they use a dart tooth spaced for a full length to chamber the dart into the seal. Otherwise, pretty much everything should be fine as long as you don't mind having to ramrod the dart into the barrel with something.

Removing pegs isnt an issue (I fact it's already done with most of my stuff)

I guess it's the mag loading stuff that I'll have issues with.

Yeah you're kind of fucked with otherwise stock mag loaders since they all use a dart tooth which is spaced to work with a full length. If it's something with a full blown sealed breech it'd work with a magwell adapter but I don't think anything except pro or 3D printed stuff will have a sealed breech.

is it worth it to build one of these? i feel like it could be fun, but it could also be catastrophic if i screw anything up
