Wouldn't it be cool if they extended the license out to model trains as well? They have to know there's an adult audience that would be all over realistic renditions the TTTE characters.

They kind of did back in the Ertl diecast Thomas days. My younger brother (who is the reason I got into TTTE despite being too old for it) had most of these. They were like a combo of Mighty Max and Micro Machines.

Speaking of wooden railway, is it nonexistent in retail? I've only seen like a small slot of thomas stuff in target and walmart but never wooden railway stuff. Only places that I've seen them is the train museum in Sacramento and this one up in the foothills, think it was jamestown but they were like 50 bucks for like hiro.

I love how all the promo art for Percy makes him look like a smug asshole. After spending decades being marketed and written as a literal retard, this is the face of someone who stopped caring and is just here to watch the neighborhood catch fire.

Percy was always a little troll, especially in the early seasons. Sometimes, he would be worse than Thomas .

I don't dislike Wooden Railway, but with the diecast & motorized lines both having magnets and compatible playsets, there's 0 reason to have WR around anymore. Sure, it's nostalgic, but a nostalgia line is the last thing Thomas needs after Mattel shat all over it's legacy.

I have only seen a few clips of it, but the biggest issue is how insanely unrealistic it was. Ignoring the movie, TTTE has almost always been pretty grounded in reality apart from the fact that the vehicles have faces and can talk. CGI added stupid little movements to make the characters more animated, but I barely acknowledge it's existence so I don't know how much more unrealistic CGI got.
AEG had Thomas using his front wheels as hands and doing 360° ollies between lines and jumping half pipes. He doesn't even have a driver or fireman.
It was no longer a show about sentient trains working on a railway, and was just a generic cartoon that happened to have the characters look like trains.

>it would be cringe
Watching AEG? Very cringe.
Watching model era episodes? Perfectly normal. The details in the models and sets are pure art. Sure, the stories are overly simplistic because it was made for little kids, but there is something soulful about those first 5 seasons. Even the Gullane era isn't too terrible. The Hit era is where it really starts to wane, but they're is still something to it.
I didn't even get into Thomas as a kid. My younger brother was into it and I was a teenager by then. But I'd read him the books and watch it with him while I was babysitting him, and I liked it. But I was a teenager, so I sure as fuck wouldn't admit it back then because that would be social suicide. These days though? Nobody cares.
You are already collecting baby toys. I don't understand how watching the show could be more cringe than that.
Try it. You might realise it's kino.

What's your bets on them including Railway Series characters out of the blue? Shit like
>Neil and some of the Culdee Fell engines being marketed for a while in ERTL and Take-Along
>D199/Spamcan getting merch from three different companies
>The three main Arlesdale mini-engines coming outta fuck nowhere in Brenner era Thomas

I only ever cared for the ERTL diecast range, since they actually looked relatively accurate. I was disappointed when they discontinued it, since now I'm an adult with disposable income, I'd probably end up collecting every new one they put out. I still intend to go back and complete my collection one day of the old models.
I never liked the Tomy plastic motorised things, I guess the easiest way to describe it is they were a Funko Pop style, like every vehicle had the same 4 wheeled chassis and size, and they'd just squish different body design onto it, fitting in the same dimensions. I was surprised to learn later on that it had such a huge following, even more than the ERTL range.
Don't really care for these new toys, since they're again not accurate, but all squished and have giant wheels/under chassis. Basically the only current range of Thomas I'd be interested in is the N gauge stuff, but even though I have a disposable income, that's really too expensive to collect all of them. Make those as static dummy models for like $40 or something, then we'll talk.
