there's a new subline (sub-subline?) for CX that basically splits the blade into two. I'm kinda on the fence about it cause I thought one of the big appeals of X was the simplicity but I felt the same way about initial CX and it won me over eventually too so who knows.
I know BX and UX have something similar coming too but I forget what BX's gimmick is. I think UX has the ratchet built in to the blade (as opposed to the bit like with pegasus/emperor)

my little brother is graduating elementary school this year and finally at the age that he's into beys. Is this a nice assortment to start him off? any suggestions?

seems like a solid starting collection. Keep in mind that arena comes with only one blade (and a gripper for the launcher) instead of two blades (with no grips) like most other arena sets. Other than that maybe just prod a bit to see if there's any particular bey themes he'd be interested in (dragons, wizards, samurai, knights etc.) and get him something specifically tailored to his tastes.
Only other thing I can think to suggest is the customize set just to give more options. Or maybe not, one of the parts in it is Metal Needle which has a reputation for tearing holes in arenas.
>>
>>11723730
Honestly it kind of sucks that we're just getting this now, because I kind of wish that CX had been the standard line from the start and this was the "more customized" version, since blade+ratchet+bit felt just a bit TOO simple as the basic line to me, and then with the couple of integrated bit/ratchet pieces we had it took it down to 2 fucking parts, and now we're getting even more of that with the integrate blade/ratchets, and that just means even more parts that aren't compatible with a bunch of stuff which feels retarded.
>>
>>11724356
Shark and Waffle sets are both solid choices with heavily meta parts included, the stadium set is kind of a ripoff for what you're getting unless you really really want the recolor of a bey that we don't even know whether it'll be good or not yet, you could just grab him a stadium plus pegasus blast for cheaper and have a confirmed top tier blade that comes with the smoothest winder TT makes, and throw in a WizRod for fun so he has everything he needs to make a full cancerous meta deck.
>>
I just learned that these have metal in them, is it safe to pour money into (and have the expectation that they can be replaced, look forwards to releases, potentially find other players) or am I late to the party (I have to emphasize, not an investorfag, just broke).
>>
>>
>>11726611
Depending on where you are, it should be pretty safe as long as you've got locals you can play with, so I'd say you should check into that first.
>is it safe to pour money into
Within reason sure, there's a decent number of meta staples that are readily available like soar phoenix, wizard rod, cobalt dragoon, and golem rock you can pretty much always find either at your local target/walmart, or on the official amazon store for hasbro releases. They also just recently dropped some big stuff as hasbro releases like shark scale, but getting one of those is difficult at the moment because they sell out as soon as they're in stock, but that should calm down soonish hopefully. You can also try checking at local discount clearance stores like Ross, 5Below, or Ollie's if you've got them, as sometimes you can find really cheap stuff there that didn't sell at normal stores.
>and have the expectation that they can be replaced
See above, availability for stuff is generally pretty good outside of big meta releases just after they've come out in the west, so if you need to replace things it's usually not too difficult.
>look forwards to releases
This one is trickier, hasbro a fuck so if you really want to keep up with new stuff as it comes out you're looking at importing takara tomy stuff from somewhere like beysandbricks or malloftoys, otherwise it's a complete crapshoot when or if hasbro will release things. They MIGHT be getting slightly better about that in the near future based on some big recent release announcements and the fact that TT is getting pissed at how badly they're mishandling the game in the west, but it's all just speculation right now.
>potentially find other players
Definitely depends on where you are for sure, but the competitive scene is getting pretty big over here these days, so look into what might be around you. Try to find somewhere that's running events and talk to the people there about what there is.
>>
>>
>>
>>11726819
>I think it's just not for me
Some blades are like that. Stuff that's objectively S-tier, but just doesn't suit you no matter how good you are. Personal preference and comfortability plays a big role in this game
>>
>>11726952
I'm not too broken up about it, just means I don't have to go buying a bunch of fucking drop attack sets every time a hover decides to explode during a tournament. I like shark scale better as an attacker anyway.

>Make a right spin blade that can be launched left spin because of poor design
>revise the mould so it can't be launched left spin anymore in future printings
>release a retool of that blade
>it can be launched left spin because of poor design
Hasbro what the fuck
>>
>>
>>
>>11729661
probably the latter honestly, but like WBO rules already explicitly forbid launching blades in different spin directions from their intended design, so even with ones where it's possible you're not allowed to in tournaments.

I wish they sold raild separately, different colors or whatever. Also, I hate the hate on Hasbro stadiums with built in rails, like, if you break a rail, you need to buy a new stadium altogether. Well, I guess the rails are built with a more durable material compared to the stadium itself, but whatever.
We need standalone rails.

It'd be nice if they did packs for lots of stuff. Winders, launchers, grips/attachments of different colors. They only really did stuff like this in plastic gen and even then it was only 1 item/color per release, never a bundle. Also the hasbro built in rails are bad because they are poorly molded hard plastic and will break easily and can damage parts.

I'm still surprised that X is so barren for accessories like specialized grips, official launcher rubbers/slipgrips, dual-spin launchers, etc. We're in so much more of a Must Consoom age than we ever were back in 2016/2009 and before, you'd think they'd have tons of extra gear you could buy this gen.

OK, hear me out. The next gimmick, or more than gimmick, different thing to spice it all up will be variants of ratchets, asymmetrical ones if looking from left to right. Something like "1.2-60", in this case being just a variant of a 3-60, but one of the points is normal, and the other two are much closer, making it a "1" on one side, and something like half a "5" side on the other.
Maybe that could give extra attack or balance compared to a 1-60?

Are the combos in random boosters meant to be proof of concepts for their prize beys or am I a schizo?
For example, Piss Whale from RB 6 is meant to show what Kick can do offensively if provided with the weight to hit hard.

you can 3d print (or pay someone else to 3d print) a jig that lets you hook up two winders. obviously not ideal but if you're in a solo situation anyway you take what you get
>>
>>
>>
>>11734066
>>11734298
you can also just have two winders ready to do with the beys already attached and set down the first one then grab the second real quick. Still not perfect, but fumbling around to reset a launcher and get the second bey on it is fucking stupid unless you're a total poorfag who doesn't even have a backup winder to use.

Watching some ultra autistic youtubers i was sold on picking some of these up and i spent today trying them with friends and we all had a good time. I got the drop attack stadium with its two beys, a dual pack of the ghost and viking ones i wasn't a fan of and a chunky whale one i like quite a bit.
What are some others to pick up? and is the whole exploding burst stuff already old and discontinued or do some stuff break apart?

Flame Cerberus, Stun Medusa or
Wriggle Kraken
? Cerberus looks dope as fuck, with Kraken I can finish my sea-themed deck and Medusa is, well, Medusing I guess.
>>
>>11736596
Cerberus comes with wheel which is useful if you don't have or don't feel like using heavy, but otherwise all the parts are pretty useless. Medusa comes with a unique looking 9-60, but is otherwise pretty useless. Wriggle is a better version of Arc, which doesn't mean much but it's something I guess? The slash it comes with is pretty nice looking for certain builds, not that you see much play from slash anymore since the Emperor and Wolf Hunt drops.
Honestly take your pick, none of them are really great pickups at this point in terms of what you get from them.

Weighed my Emperor Blast Heavy for comparison, it's 45.18. Valkyrie is about a gram heavier than Emperor, so the extra gram is probably from the Over Blade.

Toward the middle of the Expand line, I imagine they'll make a UX bey where the Unique trait is that it's absurdly heavy. Everything has been getting slightly heavier every couple of releases, they'll lean into it at some point.

I mean in all fairness scalping is a common thing in a lot of hobbies. Look at how BahamutBlitz is being priced online compared to Ragna and Knight and then look at its availability through Amazon JP or TT. For the price of buying a BX-43 from a third party distributor I was able to just buy one from Amazon Japan with expedited shipping and actually get a Beycode I can use in the JP app instead of another Taiwan code I can't. Obviously it's not all scalping but market pricing has been a bullshit concept for eons we're all forced to deal with because of scalpers causing demand to exceed supply of collectables in general. It's why I'm glad I got at least one set of Eva beys, and that they seem readily available still in the pre-order window instead of a limited supply

what's the general consensus on string launchers?
Saw the bite croc set at walmart today but I have no interest in the bey itself or any of its parts so I wasn't sure if I should pick it up just for the launcher/grip. Never had any issue with winders but I'm not adverse to trying out strings. I've heard some people say they're objectively superior while others say they break entirely too easily so I'm not sure who to believe.
>>
>>11746109
Winder is fun, but I've always preferred string. Almost everyone in Asia uses string, but most people in the west use winder from what I've seen. I've personally had more winder launchers break/burn out. String launchers only break if you're gorilla ripping the cord at max length and breaking the spring inside instead of letting the handle slip out of your fingers. The string launcher's cord does get shorter over time though, but it takes a while for power loss to be noticeable.

try googling beyblade + your state/city/whatever and see if you can find a discord or something where people organize events would probably be your best bet. Could also try looking on the WBO forums to see if you can spot anyone running events in your area that you might be able to show up at and meet some people.
As far as regularly available stuff worth grabbing that you might be able to find locally (assuming you're in burgerstan), definitely grab a wizard rod (sold as wand wizard by hasbro, the green one if you spot it is a must buy cause all the parts are good, but the blade itself is the best stamina part in the game). If you spot a drop attack stadium set for a decent price, like $30 or under grab that, the stadium is garbage but hover wyvern is very good, impact drake is okay, and low rush is a staple attack bit. Golem Rock is a solid grab if you spot it, the phoenix wing (soar phoenix hasbro name) pack is a solid grab for the blade and 9-60 ratchet, plus a string launcher if you like using it. Cobalt dragoon is one of two viable left spin blades currently available and worth grabbing. If you happen to spot a shark scale in store, grab it immediately.
If you're willing to import Takara Tomy stuff via sites like beysandbricks, that opens up a lot of other possibilities like grabbing pegasus blast (though you can pre-order the hasbro version with a gimmick launcher instead of the good winder that the TT one comes with now).

Haven't managed to figure out using a string launcher yet, partly because with winder I don't use a grip and for string I can't just palm it the same way due to the launch hooks being on the opposite side so my thumb gets in the way. So to use string I first need to figure out how to launch with a grip and adapt my launch style which is a huge pain in the ass.
>>
>>
>>
>>11749167
So last event I went to I was told that when I launch my string I should be doing it fast and letting go quickly as opposed to pulling it like I would a normal winder. A grip in general will help you with aiming so it doesn't hurt to try it with your winder as well
>>
>>11752268
Yeah I know with string it's more about pulling fast than hard, it's just I've gotten into a habit of how I hold the winder and how I use my wrist for different launch tech, so switching to a grip is gonna mean I have to relearn some of that.
