Beanz. I didn't get appeal, and still don't.

I never understood the point of them. Like I know POGs get a lot of flak, but atleast I had fun when it was at it's peak.
Beanz I legit don't get the point.
No kid is going "Oh I want to collect beans". So even from a marketing standpoint it never made sense to me.
I mean hell, it's basically a cheaper slinky but atleast with a slinky you can use it to enhance a makeshift armor in your imagination when you were a kid or "sending out your special attack" and uncoil the slinky while holding the other end.
What the fuck were we supposed to do with this? Asking this question has stumped me for a long time.
It wasn't base don a TV show to even justifying it's existence. They're not like beyblades with an arsenal of pieces to customize your top for strategy purposes.
I'm convinced they thought people were just so brain dead they'd accept such a retarded premise.

I thought it was mostly Mexican kids who loved these so maybe they were onto something about their target audience being retarded

You're going to have to explain this to me, is this a thing that originated in Mexico or something?

I was autistically obsessed with these as a kid so much so that when they discontinued these in early 2005 i had such a existential crises and was overcome with such dread and hopelessness i seriously contemplated killing myself at 8 years old that day.

I always wanted these as a kid but I didn't like asking my parents for toys because I knew we were poor

Mexican jumping beans dude. He's making a weak joke.

I had a bunch of these as a kid, and still have some packed away. Theyre not the best toy ever but theres a lot you can do with them. They had some cool playsets (cant remember if i had any) but even without them theyre fun as a fidget toy or using your imagination. You can race them, do tricks with them, throw them, play a marbles style game with them, etc. Also dont underestimate a child's urge to collect as many as possible even if they seem mundane.

(cont.) unfortunately i dont have enough nostalgia to collect these but the playsets look fun. They look like a mix of hotwheels, mouse trap, marbles, rube goldberg machine.

My dad would always joke about me flicking my beans when I would play with these. I never understood what he meant. I wouldn't ever flick them.

Did you stick around for their 2009 revival?

I know that feeling. Bionicle G2's cancellation has made me extremely adverse to ongoing retail toylines.

I got a few but by that point i moved on. Honestly i resented mighty beanz as a kid and hated them because i felt they abandoned me when i needed them the most. I even smashed all of mine out of revenge for the line ending. I was a deeply lonely and troubled kid and later diagnosed with aspergers in highschool to no ones surprise.

I hate lego so much for not bringing back bionicle. My feelings on lego on that topic can be summed up by the first ten seconds of this video

My brother bought a few Marvel Superhero themed packs and gave me some Spider-man characters.
