Im pretty sure everything is canon in the sense that the universe ran every iteration it can (regardless of if you did them or not) when LOOPING before "True ending" (Then it loops more, but Dave no longer gets Muh Morphic Resonance cause the machine is turned off.)

I know that most of the choices don't really matter that much, but it was a bad idea to start by setting the expectation that they do then make them super pointless. What the dad and Hunter have going on might be the most interesting plot point so far, but it feels clear they are covering up some crime because there is no point trying to hide something if it was really innocent.

First off, I'd love to see our boy Rhyss' mask slip a bit, I would *LOVE* seeing his sprite with a shadowy contour at some point. Maybe Tucker gets in a little fight with the mascot, and Rhyss steps in with his shadow energy and zaps it into fleeing while declaring Tucker is his while fleshy boy shivers and asks "Rhyss... is that really you?" and then that familiar smile creeps back into his face, but now you get that juicy flavor of sinisterness squeezed on top like lemon juice on a fish fillet.
Then, while we part ways and hang out with our guardian, Rhyss pulls his rank and meets up with his in his makeshift office, asking how we're doing after that scary encounter. We question his motives again and this time he just smirks while repeating his mission. We get uncomfortable but Rhyss grabs our wrist and nuzzles our face while telling us everything will be okay, and that he'll protect us no matter what, because that's what he's here for.
Then while Rhyss is shaking down Dr. Fatto to hurry up with the Maeron progress we get the obligatory loredrop of the build ("Tucker... must have sex with a Carain and establish a bond to journey... the Roads Yet Travelled"... (*dun dun dunnnnn*) and the Captain Behl is like "Buncha fucking FAGS on this ship eh? Get to it Tucker, otherwise you're going out of the waste chute into orbit. Dismissed.")
And we get the dog guardian emotional scene as we grow closer, a tender kiss between dog and human.
Build will probably end with Rhyss getting a phone call from Soknoss higher ups and discussing the mascot and how if nothing is done it won't be the last monster summoned to their world.

Not basically, he IS Royalty, His Court (The Grove) is just so mired in conspiracy and prophecy he is practically just a figurehead and The Observer is the true ruler. The fact he ran off/"Got Kidnapped" as kid is basically a secret. But basically it seems to be a Rune situation where they are hunting down a specific Soul to crown each time it incarnates, and Alon is that Soul. The fun think is that the Observer mention having needed to put in work to "make him a Wolf" which implies they probably hunt down and kill Non-Wolf (Possibly Non-Canine) incarnations.

Well, I was talking about my own preferences, not the average reader's. If you want to make it big, sure, you need the wow-factor with the art.

Those often overlap. And as a somewhat literature snob, I'm not satisfied with just "getting the point and mood of a scene across", in the longer run at least. Depends on the content of the VN, though, if it's just for the cooms, sure, why expect masterclass-level prose. But if the VN wants to do more than just titillate, the writer better aim higher than the average.

Picrel is a concrete example of what I consider good prose in a VN, even if written by a clear ESL (I say "in a VN" because unlike with books, a VN writer is constrained by the size of the textbox and must adjust his writing accordingly).

Easy to use and comes with most of the features you want out of the box. Rollback, screenshots, hide ui, text log, many save slots being the main ones that are handy. It is pretty easy to learn the code and you can add game systems to it, but larger projects with more focus on the game systems tend to use other engines.

Story and Characters I can care about. Make the characters and world stand out. Define why things are important to them. That is how you get me engaged with the stakes. You could replace Echo with a huge orgy of the characters and some people would like that more, but I doubt it would be talked about to this day if it was that. Stories work best when you can make them work even when you don't want to fuck the cast and that can just be a nice bonus. This isn't to come off as calling sex bad because you can have a very horny game with a great story, just sometimes a very boring VNs try to use it to hook interest in their VN. Sex is also better with the context around it being strong.

To be fair, that's usually due shit running like garbage (Performance-wise) due being stapled on or ending up being unreasonably grindy like MyDAD or stuff is complex and well-made enough to just warrant going to Furry Games instead.

Like my issue with Hurstchapel wasn't that it had gameplay (Especially when it took ages to get to it), it was that the fucking tutorial gliched and basically locked me out of progress. Gameplay is great, i love PoliDog (And it does have performance issues since it is a RPGmaker Action game), but poorly implemented gameplay will always be a demerit IMO.

Complexity in route and affection systems? I usually see more Devs (Writers) complain about it because it means they need to write around and account for those. You don't even need that much stuff to make shit engaging.

Being fair, most of this general complains regardless of whatever you suggest. The times when threads were literally nothing but "fat foot", "Dongle" and all sorts of other schizophrenia the moment you so much as posted an image from a given FVN weren't that long ago. That shit would build up resentment in anyone and it's honestly equally as bad trying to pretend that never happened or that it didn't make it impossible to have threads that weren't just 24/7 shitposting until bump limit.

No problem, I binge read Ode to the Heroes the last 3 days and it's so fucking good. Maybe I'm super autistic for team builder and tournament stories, but I really enjoy the premise. Sure, the English is rough at times, and the soundtrack is lacking a bit in some areas, but I really enjoy the MC. He really brings the story to life and I would not hesitate to say he is a top 5 FVN MC. I would not mind dating him at all as one of his lackeys.

They just dropped 0.7 a few days ago and I will probably buy it in the next few days if it's not out there already. The first 2 chapters were that great.

Based on Day 1, I can say it's been ok so far. I don't mind slowburn, and Day 1 handles the slower-paced writing as well as a VN can IMO. Though I've seen many times anons here say the script could've used a chainsaw through it, so I'll have to see when the slowburn writing becomes a problem.
