They're roughly equal in terms of functionality. I've watched several YouTubers putting NB2 through the wringer. Theoretically, NB2 can follow prompts a little better, since it's based off Gemini 3.1 instead of 3.0.

NB2 is Google's newest Flash model, like the original Nano Banana. As a result, it's significantly faster than NBPro, and therefore less expensive. So your daily usage limits with it should be higher.

Just for shits-n-giggles, I ran this through Nano Banana Pro and Nano Banana 2, to see what they could make of it.

That prompt was intentionally vague to provide the AIs some creative freedom, and indeed both took a few liberties with my submission. I wouldn't really say that either achieved hyper-realism, but they definitely upped the detail level. NBPro stuck more closely to my character design but lost some of the rattlesnake element, whereas NB2 clearly did its homework online to learn what night stalkers are and then pushed it a little too far in the other direction.
