Here's what is going to happen:
>East of LA will be empty desert with nothing of value
>Arizona will be a slog of a drive, maybe stop at the Grand Canyon along the way though. Be prepared for it to be extremely packed along any part of the road unless you hike in
> Drive right through another slog (New Mexico) while looking at all the hot balloons
>Yet another slog in the pan handle, stop by The Big Texan Steak Ranch and lose at the 72ozer
> Oklahoma is yet another boring slog, but if you time it right you can stop by some cool museums like the Air & Space
>make it to Arkansas where you finally have ozarks and lots of land to do shit on if you're into hiking, hot springs too, etc
>TN same shit, lots to do for outdoors shit
Highly recommend taking CA -> Vegas -> Utah -> CO -> Kansas -> OK -> Arkansas (Yes, divert south, fuck Missouri unless you want to stop for BBQ at Kansas city) -> TN instead

>Arkansas
Little Rock, Hot Springs, Ozarks, Thorncrown Chapel.
>Oklahoma
Lamer Texas. I hear Tulsa is cool and a major stop on Route 66
>New Mexico
Probably the best state in the union to travel. Santa Fe, White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns, nuclear test sites
>Arizona
Grand Canyon and Indian reservations
>Missouri
St. Louis and KC are both pretty interesting. More Ozarks
>Kansas
Comfy small towns, quaint and soulful roadside attractions
>Colorado
Hippies and stoners everywhere. Cool nature
>Utah
Mormons and more cool nature.

Highly recommend monument valley in Arizona (near where Forrest Gump finished his run). A little out of your way but worth it.
Grand Canyon too of course but like this anon said >>2862429 it will be crowded at any outlook with parking. You’ll want to park at a trailhead, walk 0.5-1 miles, then it’ll be like you have the whole canyon to yourself.

I thought Saguaro National Park in southern Arizona was really cool, there's nothing like the giant Saguaro cactuses.
Utah also has great national parks.
Carlsbad Caverns in NM was also pretty neat, especially if you go in the summer to see the bats:

When you get to the southeast, try to find some kind of swamp you can tour especially if you've never been to the southeast before, southeast swamps are like another world compared to southern Cali. I've done a boat tour in Okefenokee in southern Georgia which was great, tons of alligators. It might be a bit far from your trip but there should be other swamps, maybe other anons are more knowledgeable about where to find alligators and stuff near your route.
Also you're close to Atlanta if you want to stop by there, the big attraction there is the world-famous aquarium.
