Travel vlogs will always exist. The only reason I seldom watch them is because they're either boring, or I'm trying to avoid spoilers (because I travel too).

Their style of vlogging is played out but there's no reason someone couldn't figure out a new angle to keep things fresh or create content at a higher standard.

Bald's best content was always going to obscure places in ex-USSR because it's an interesting niche.

I also tried. As someone with adhd I only enjoy short high paced authentic vlogs without over editing, misleading drone shots etc. which became rare over time so that s what I tried. Unfortunately my adhd produces chaotic vlogs which only make sense to people who already know me and my travel history. Close to monitization after posting about 40 long form videos but I guess it will have to be one good hit since most followers came from only a few videos that did well. I think however, many normies follow vloggers just for the fact they're famous. So i think once you have a decent following, even your crappiest new videos will be watched by normies and without losing those normies because the video is crap. That s what s going on with the pioneer travel vloggers right now.

People watch vloggers for their personalities, not so much for the places they visit. They can make a routine place full of normal people appear "OMG so exciting, I wish I could go there!" by hyping it for the camera. I think it depends per viewer. If someone is constantly in frame yapping I can get annoyed and start thinking shut up a while and just show the place. On the other extreme you have the faceless and or voiceless vlogs which can also get boring. That's why I took the middle road. I often hear I should show myself and interactions more often but let's be honest. Most interactions of many famous vloggers are lame, forced, disrespectful or superficial. I like to stay respectful and only include qualitative interactions. That's basically my 'weakness' in modern day vlogging. Most vloggers do or say anything to go viral, whether it's good or bad, smart or stupid. Hard to compete with that if you have certain values and principles. But it's fine. I'll take the long run.
