On the tail end of a trip in Asia I want to do 10 days in China. A few years ago when the visa free period (and places you could go) was more strict I did the 144 hours visa free in Shanghai and Suzhou.
Shanghai was alright but I much preferred Suzhou, not only the touristy canal areas but the actual drab city itself as it just felt more what I was expecting.
So I'm planning to do 3 days in Chongqing. I don't want to spend so much time travelling and trying to squeeze in a bunch of places so I am thinking one or two max more places. Hopefully just one more flight within China.
I don't want to just go to Beijing to Xi'ian. I've always wanted to see Zhangjiajie but I see a lot of people say the national park has become so overcrowded it's not fun.
I'm thinking maybe Guilin or Lijiang?
I want a place that either has amazing scenery and villages to explore or a place that feels stereotypical Chinese. Hopefully somewhere a bit off the beaten track from the typical western tourist circuit, I don't mind too much if there's a bunch of domestic tourists as I imagine that's unavoidable.
>inb4 you fell for the meme with Chongqing
I know but it's kind of what I want. Dirty and drab and messy during the day but at night I can look at the LEDs in the distance and feel like I'm in the future. It also seems super fun to explore with nice people.

Chongqing is not dirty. Cleaner than any American city I’ve been in when I visited in 2024 except maybe on par with the high rise condo part of Miami. Don’t fall for the “muh China isn’t a US white man’s vassal like the japs & koreacucks so they must be disgusting bugmen1!1!1!”
Also how are you planning to get around those nature areas? I wanna visit Guilin and Zhangjiajie too but I don’t think they have robust ways to get around there without a car except maybe getting a tour bus, which I won’t go solo. It would be too embarrassing and nature trips are for couples

>chongqing cleaner than any american city
lmao, shills running damage control I see
average yearly AQI in chongqing is around 120
The *dirtiest* city in the US is San Bernardino, California, which has an average yearly AQI under 100
Reminder that chinese people cope about their poor air quality and refer to smog as "fog" to save face
>noooo that's not stinky air pollution, chongqing is just very foggy ;)

That's a mild difference in air quality. And people generally take dirty to mean piles of homeless shit on sidewalks and heroin needles. America has that in every city, town, and park in the country.
China doesn't have druggies wandering around and there are people sweeping streets all hours of the day, so it's always clean.
Current AQI map of America btw. National parks are clean but everything else is hazardous and far above the "poor air quality" you claim Chongqing has of 120.
Now back to /pol/.

Zhangjiajie is crowded... but the park is massive. The entrance is crowded, but they dissipate inside the park because it's so damn big. It's very much worth visiting.
Wulong is a similar option near Chongqing. You can easily get there by bus + taxi. Also near Chongqing is Dazu Rock Carvings. Pictures don't do it justice, but it's a seemingly endless complex of intricate carvings from hundreds of years ago. Definitely worth going. Chongqing has enough that you could extend it for a few days. I visited for a week and felt like it wasn't enough.

>implying chinese don't litter, piss, spit, and shit on the street
Next time, try leaving the center of a tier 1 city, anon
The US has nowhere near the levels of air, water, and soil pollution found in China
>can't into yearly averages
>"hurr durr, akshually chongqing is statistically only slightly worse that the *most* polluted city in the US"
Nice cope
>pic related from China today, where green is nearly non-existent
