People can't accept that sometimes in a comedy show some characters don't actually have any character but just used as a joke. For some reason, internet accumulated an audience that always wants some sort of a hidden background lore. Remember Filthy Frank? Most of his characters were one-liners, but people created whole timelines like it's some sort of a high fantasy. This is why shit like Adventure Time or Digital Circus were so popular - these little cringe drama-club kids who sustain 90% of all fanbases of every piece of media ever are fucking dying to have this sort of lame faggotry happening everywhere. They had 2 problems.

1. All shows must become union in their 4th seasons in the US so legally having so many guest animators would've become a headache.

I think something that was a big problem I had with the show was all the internet references. Nothing wrong with having someone cameo as a one-off character, but when they would reference chris chan it felt like they were immaturely itching to cram a special interest into their show. When they make jokes about Family Guy doing dumb shit like that, it's funny because you wouldn't expect that of Family Guy. You would, however, expect it from Zach, and so it falls flat.
