I know it's a part of his persona, but after Conan is done mocking her by pulling out the dictionary I felt such disgust how he then begins fawning about it doesn't matter because she could easily beat him up

as a kid i had a friend whose parents were all uppity and didn't use baby talk, so a dog was never a 'doggy', a horse was never a 'horsey' etc. dog, horse.
one day at school we were talking about animals and he called picrel a 'donk'. we were like '...a what?', 'you know, a donk.'
he had somehow worked backwards and concluded donkeys were 'donks'.

I remember getting a note written into the margins of a paper I wrote for a biology class in college. My professor kindly corrected my misused term 'fish' referencing multiple species of fish. In Zoology, the correct plural for fish is 'fishes'. I also got a nice red ink WTF mark in developmental psychology for describing a stuffed animal in lab report as 'plush toy'. Professors be trippin' sometimes.

He's the host of a late night talk show. His job is to make his guests look good, make them feel comfortable, and maintain good rapport. He got his little jab at her which was funny (and deserved on her part), but he had to immediately compliment her so she could save face and they could move on.
