SM1 is great but it mostly just follows the story of Scream and small tidbits of IKWYDLS, adds some jokes and references on top and has a pretty satisfactory ending, the Wayans tried to be more original with SM2 blending several different house haunting stories and as a result the movie was pretty meh, boring and unfocused, the over-reliance on the cripple and the deformed guy, fart/shit jokes and Family Guy cutaways detracts a lot from the humor and the fact that there's literally only two deaths (The nerdy chick and the professor) makes the ending feel overcrowded and cheap.
Objectively, SM3 was a step up, the removal of the Wayans and having the people behind Airplane take over actually helped the movie feel fresh, there's a marked decrease in the use of scatological humor and more variety in the style of the jokes, and despite parodying two vastly different movies (Signs and The Ring) there is actual cohesion to the plot, while the references are less obtrusive and can be understood even without context (the 8Mile and gang fight scenes are funny even if you don't know the context, unlike that fucking basketball dance scene in SM2).
SM4 is somewhere between 3 and 2, not as good as 3 but not as abyssmal as 2, the formula is largely unchanged from 3 which is good but the casting isn't as strong, there's quite a lot more referential humor and the main parodies (War of the Worlds and Saw) don't combine as organically as the ones from 3, Cindy and Brenda are also bothbat their best in these movies, the Wayans movies severely underuse Brenda and Cindy is a much more generic final girl in their movies than the all-out ditzy bimbo from 3 and 4.

2 was rushed AF and it shows, nothing in it is as good as the opening Exorcist parody (And even that one has an extremely drawn out shit joke), the plot is designed less like an actual story and more like just a vehicle for random jokes and dated references, there is no defined villain or any actual danger for the main characters because the movie is busier making jokes at the expense of the cripples or showing the bird cursing and shitting than establishing the ghost or the professor as actual antagonists unlike Doofy, Tabatha or Jigsaw, and so the ending is a total asspull when the butler suddenly becomes evil for no reason.

i know its not supposed to be high art but the only reason scary movie 1 worked was because it parodied a single trope trend aka screams which itself was a pastiche of formulaic teen slashers and inspired a bunch of other cashgrab ripoffs, when they started just referencing random disjointed horror tropes with some already poorly dated pop culture shit is when it went to shit, in 2 they tried to be more timeless with the references being gothic horror but that wasn't timely with teen audiences and the mayans obviously werent very inspired with that background, from this trailer it already just throws a bunch of different parodies without reason like sinners, weapons, longlegs, that obviously were rushed into production just grabbing bits from trailers so they could feel like they were being current except all it does is create the opposite, its already so poorly dated as a result because nobody gives a shit about longlegs and weapons, you're not supposed to just parody random scenes from trailers, but parody the longer cultural impact and appeal of movies that change and influence horror movies in the following decade, like what scream did in its era. idk what the defining trend of this era even is, except gay ass a24 "elevator" shlock, or boomer nostalgia cashgrabs like scream 9 and halloween 12 reboots or sequels with geriatric leads, seems they're going for the later while being a nostalgia cashgrab on itself but its completely sterile because scream isnt a defining movie at all in the current year, so the former would have been more potent

but low effort dildo gags and fart jokes and sassy black queens jokes will sell it to burger audiences regardless so who cares

I will always laugh at some of its gags, but it's easily the weakest of the franchise, not counting 5th obviously, I don't know a single person who watched it except for my brother
Also 2 is the one that probably aged the worst, there's some stuff that is just incomprehensible today like the basketball ad part, plus it just feels cheaper and raunchier compared to the rest of the movies.
That said, some parts of it like the exorcism intro or the Turkey dinner still cracks me up
