i ask this every time a thread even peripherally touches the topic but what finally causes people to take action against known sex pests? weinstein's behavior was an open secret in hollywood for years, so open that many not involved in the entertainment industry whatsoever knew about it. and an industry, mind you, where people are want to express opinions, dictate their will upon the populace, and engage in any act of virtue signaling they can. weinstein's behavior was acknowledged but ignored until it wasn't. so what changed? it was the same thing with spacey, cosby, epstein, clinton, ellen, charlie rose, etc.

Most of their crimes are not really bad until read in a court transcript and the vibe of the situation in the moment felt like it wasn’t worth addressing. Also it’s such a hassle bringing allegations against anyone I’m pretty sure if I witnessed a murder or found a body I wouldn’t bother telling anyone.
