You can see the degradation of how they draw celebrities in their three Beatles cameos.
Ringo looks like a native Simpson character. He’s recognizably Ringo, but he fits in with every other cartoon character.
Paul has more superfluous details. He stands out a bit. Even if you don’t know Paul McCartney, you can tell he’s a caricature of somebody real.
George just looks grotesque. He looks nothing like a Simpson character at all. The skin color, the details. Everything is wrong.

season 7 while still very good was clarly the beginning of the decline.
Episodes like Bart Sells His Soul, Lisa the Vegetarian, Marge Be Not Proud, Scenes from the Class Struggle in Springfield , The Curse of Flying Hellfish, Homerpalooza or the one where Ned Flanders tries to baptize the Simpson kids really left a weird taste in the mouth to anyone who grew up watching the series during its best years.

It really was. It was at this point the celebrity cameos had to be on the nose. The celebs got too much say in what they got to be and do on the show. Then later you had an episode where they're just sucking Alex Baldwin and Kim Bassinger's dick. Or Mel Gibsons, or whoever. Nothing like the cameos before. Tom Jones, Bob Hope, they didn't make a big of it and made fun of it.
