>Job is to drop massive metal boxes into the ocean from an icy ship deck that is constantly shifting because the ship is being hit with large waves
>Then you need to use heavy hooks, ropes, chains and heavy machinery to retrieve these boxes from the bottom of the ocean all while being pelted with frigid cold water ocean spray.

>fell off the boat
Damn, who could have foreseen that.
But seriously what a fucking terrible way to go
>One bad wave is enough to just knock you into the water
>Crew might not even realize for god knows how long
>Hitting the icy sea with rough waves sending you into shock like just having been shot, having trouble to even stay afloat as you watch the light from the ship getting further and further away and your chances to live dropping rapidly to 0.

The issue isn't slipping. The issue is the ropes catching their ankles if they lift their feet up. They need to shuffle around when they're working because so much rope is going overboard with a ton of crab pot attached to it.
Saw one season where a deckhand missed getting pulled overboard because of a loop in the rope he almost stepped in.
