she is just a nobody better than everybody else with no build up, isn't that the problem? also, we see Anakin become Darth Vader, he didn't succeed at the end, he failed - Rey saves the universe and takes the main guys' name for herself

>this old guy knows his ship inside and out, owned and used it for decades for smuggling, knowing all the tricks to get everything out of it he could
>hurr let me just pull this part out to make me look smart to the audience
Completely disingenuous

Difference between a guy dicking around with things he's worked with his entire life and failing upwards, and a girl mastering absolutely everything the first time she's ever tried it. It's been over a decade. It's time to let get of this one.

Women doing anything of value is just that ridiculous. Their pussy is the only thing that keeps them relevant, they admit as much with their insults.

even the fags that pretend to like the prequels don't try to defend the fact Anakin did that shit as a kid, at best maybe le chosen one shit but that was typically hated by most, and at the very least it ended with Anakin falling to evil which mitigate the whole gary stu aspect, in Reys case she not only never fell but then defeated the big bad for good that Anakin was supposed to beat meaning she is technically the chosen one according to nuwars canon

You're further proof of my point. Off topic, low quality, bait posts designed to stifle discussion and shit post. All against the rules, nothing is done about it. Yes, btw, posting the same exact image over and over and over that has already been discussed as neasum for the purpose of flooding the board with low quality shit posts IS against the rules, but you already know that.

Rat Wars is objectively terrible, True EU canon is far superior and has better female characters.
>>
>>
>>218306368
When male characters are like this they're usually written in a way that you can see the struggle and pain involved in the process. You see how they grapple with their talents and all the pressure that comes with them. Their focus is usually on how to use their abilities responsibly and how to avoid the temptation to use it for evil.
When female characters are like this there's zero of that. They're just magically talented from the get-go and smugly and snarkily rub it in your face and the face of every other character how amazing they are.

>Anakin is the Chosen One
Yeah, that's the basis for the Skywalker Saga.
>he built Threepio
There's a billion C3PO-style models in the movies both in the OT and PT; it's less that he built a droid from scratch and more like building a computer in parts.
>he flew a ship
Established to having flown up to the control ship on its own via autopilot, and reasoning some podracing skills transfer to spacecrafts is certainly easier than arguing Rey knows more about the Falcon than Han, or is able to fly it the way she does when escaping Jakku, or being able to beat Kylo in several duels, or so on and so forth.
>>
>>
>prophesized messiah
This is a potential setup for a Mary Sue, but requires actual Mary Sue feats to confirm.
>built C3PO
He didn't build C3PO, he found him in the trash and refurbished him. Still impressive for a ten year old I guess (not a toddler).
>won a war on first flight
He didn't win a war, he helped win a battle.
>Rey is a Mary Sue
Absolutely. She instantly knew more about the Falcon than the guys who owned, operated and serviced that ship for decades. She was skilled with a lightsaber despite having no training. She did a Jedi mind trick without anyone teaching her how to do it. Neither Anakin nor Luke were able to do any Jedi stuff without training, they just had a vague sense of the Force.
>>
>>218306368
Anakin fucks up all the time as a padawan with years of training his hand gets chopped up by Dooku as he should because Dooku is awesome and a master. Rey casts Jedi mind trick without knowing what the force is and then defeats Kylo Ren, Anakin's grandson who was raised as a Jedi his entire life.

The "chosen one"/"gary sue" resonates with people because it reflects a biologicaly reality of males: boys go through a transformative process to become men. They gain strength and aggression which must be learned to be throttled, restrained, and channeled into something positive, and must resist the temptation to abuse it.
The "mary sue" phenomenon annoys people because it doesn't reflect reality: women don't go through a process anything like that. It's not that they don't struggle, but they struggle in different ways. Mary sue characters don't portray that though. They're just female shoehorned into the male role. And the audience can smell it.

Luke barely manages to survive making the shot. The whole sequence is packed with suspense showing squads going down into the trench and getting wrecked. The people backing Luke get wrecked. Luke would have been killed if Han didn't save him. As for the shot itself, they had targeting computers that could do it, Luke however chooses to trust in the Force instead of the technology, but regardless it's not the crux of the sequence.

>untrained. Anakin is able to haphazardly deal a crippling blow to the control ship while its under attack from other ships already
while goofy and unbelievable, and certainly a Gary Stu moment it doesn't break with what we've established in the world building
>untrained, Rey successfully uses a completely unknown to her technique of the Jedi mind trick
Its not even that an untrained force user couldn't do this without really knowing. but the situation is her using it directly on the trooper. like she knows she can get the guard to do what she says. it shouldn't even part of her thought process that its possible to attempt, but succeeds anyway.

No Rat Wars is just garbage and can’t even write good female characters without making woke mary sue trash.
Ironically Disney like to claim their so feminist but the Expanded Universe they destroyed had much more impressive female characters that were actually written well.

Anakin loses his mother and his wife, not to mention his limbs, and falls to the dark side due to his character flaws.
Luke loses his first duel against Vader and nearly loses his friends due to his impetuousness before learning to control himself and redeem Vader.
Rey is good at everything, is loved by everyone, is helped by everyone, has no character arc and no character flaws, defeats everyone in every battle despite having barely any training, is never wounded, doesn't sacrifice anything, and doesn't change in any way.
Luke and Anakin are actual characters while Rey is a Kathleen Kennedy's self-insert action figure. There, refuted.

Don't bother. It's never been a discussion on good faith. Just "like the new stuff, if you don't you're a sexist!"
They blew their load with Ghostbusters 2016. Everyone saw through the bullshit and jumped ship after Last Jedi. SW as been bargain bin at Ollies ever since.

Rey is what happens when you have trust fund baby writers with no concept of struggle and grit because they never experienced it themselves or they're abhorrent to that idea because it would reflect negatively on them as people who haven't gone through anything remotely similar since their jobs are handed to them on a silver platter.

There has never been a male character where he is
>universally adored
>instantly good at everything, better than older characters
>whenever he isn’t around, all other characters ask where he is
>only barrier is people not instantly doing what he wants

Luke was a child of royalty, with parentage of the nobility of Naboo and also of the upper priesthood caste. In fiction, this lets the character get away with literally anything. If Rey had been a confirmed descendant of any great bloodline, everything that she did would have been excused by the majority of viewers.

>Everyone thought the midichlorian thing was stupid
>Building a droid from scrap is their universes equivalent of building a PC from a bunch of spare/outdated/trashed parts while working in an ewaste processing plant. Not exactly a difficult task.
>He flew on autopilot the entire battle and only fired weapons, with the help of R2
Rey just suddenly knew how to fix ships and fly them, simply because she spent her childhood scrapping a star destroyer. Not to mention it's like a total of two weeks from the start of ep 7 to the end of 8, and only a handful of months from 8 to 9, and Rey is suddenly the best jedi force wielder ever. And in those first two weeks, she not only defeated kylo multiple times, she killed snoke. With no combat training whatsoever. Anakin getting lucky with autopilot is far less egregious than Rey taking down the sithlord and his apprentice within 2 weeks of holding a lightsaber for the first time.

It's because now they get the most indigenous looking black guys and make them somber and stoic as shit, which is supposed to be deep but is actually the opposite. I've been rewatching the show Black Mirror and I've noticed that whenever there's a black character, the episode is boring and feels like one of those pretentious French films where the entire movie is just a guy walking around looking depressed. Black characters are now the modern equivalent of those films. They don't want to make them goofy, so they do the opposite extreme where they just say next to nothing and look really somber while nothing happens. This problem didn't exist with the original and prequel trilogies were made, black characters were allowed to be flawed and unique. They tried the stoic somber shit with Finn in the first one and then just retconned his story completely. It was like, "there's your black guy, bro."

um..... did you not watch the movie?
they spend a whole half-hour race sequence to establish Anakin has piloting skillz. his mom tells Qui-Gon all about his developing force powers. Qui-Gon scans Anakin and science-verifies Anakin is high potenial. KID Anakin WORKS in Watto's junkshop and Watto explains how the kid fixes things all the time. even with the end sequence "luck" space battle Anakin "hangs a lantern on it" by talking to R2 about how lucky they got.
Anakin's story is FULL of exposition. IN the movie.
Rey is all just "yeah, you have to figure it out because....[?]... probably"
