Yes. Digimon movies are a bit short, too short for an American theatrical release. They wanted to compete by making one massive movie.
The first two with the original adventure kids probably would've been ok as a single movie. But the 3rd movie Hurricane Touchdown was massacred.

>The Digimon OVA is directed with zero dialog, with each animated scene in synchronization with Ravel's Bolero playing in the background, scaling up the tension until the final battle
>MFW i discovered decades later the American version butchered to put some shit pop-rock song and Who Let the Dogs Out

Monster against monster like digimon but in our world, I remember the mc loosing against a girl in a parking lot and how if you loose a fight, your creature must die

>When does Tamers get better?
When Leomon.
>not the WOAH DARKEST DIGIMON EVER that people said it was
Don't listen to people who say shit like that. It's ultimately still a show for kids. It's still good, though, and it does touch on darker themes than previous Digimon series.

I barely watch modern anime at all but I'm watching this and really enjoying it. I loved GG too but it had no plot and the plot is actually pretty good here. I didn't expect it to get as emotional as it does like the suicidal war survivor guy

There is deep lore hidden in the vpet japanese manual that say digimon can change size and shit. A quest in one of the re games had someone hack their bird so it could fit in buildings.
It was probably just artistic liberties though

Been loving it so far. Gives me some Yugioh 5Ds vibes. Definitely one of the more darker takes with most digimon either being hunted down or used for crime. I do miss Ghost Game’s take on digimon being essentially aliens that don’t understand human biology or society which was the main source of conflict

Shame cause HT is kino with a really unique tone and atmosphere nothing else in the franchise comes close to. All the shitty recent Adventure sequels have all been bad attempts to copy it even.
Also that shot of Miyako in the beach permanently altered my adolescent brain.

I'm gonna say it: this is actually peak. I can barely remember what happens in the actual movie but the Angela Anaconda short, I remember every line.
