and was looking to rebound after feeling down
people were saying PHM is good
and to get through it before the movie is out
cuz trailers seem to divert from book
so I did
and see its out this month
and I watched the trailer and it seems to be pretty by the book..

It's going to be okay, the book had a bit too much reddit humor for my taste. Also with the way they toned down the science and engineering from The Martian, they'll definitely take interesting stuff out for the movie.

It's the only movie this year I'm interested in. I guess Digger is intriguing but there's 0 info about it and quirk tom chungus could be awful.

It looks pretty good. It's annoying they spoiled Rocky in the trailer, the stuff where they're first discovering eachother in the tunnel is my favorite part of the book.

It's barely a spoiler to be honest, it happens super early in the book. Also it's not a human vs alien monsters so I think it's good they set the proper tone for the film.

it's not that early, it's more than a third of the way through the book and then you don't see him for a good while after that
either way I had no idea there were aliens involved when I started reading it, and I was surprised the story went in that direction. so it's just a little saddening to see that people won't have the same experience.

A bit quirk chungus but it's fine. Same as the Martian.

It seems like they might be ignoring the entire amnesia plot since they show him not wanting to go on the mission in the trailer whereas that was only revealed at the end of the book

Hopefully they keep Rocky not knowing about relativity in so they can go to Eridani instead of copping out and going back to earth

The amnesia is significant enough, I think they'll keep it. The trailer also reveals the explosion that killed Dubois and the chick, along with a few other spoilers but unless you've read the book you don't know it's a spoiler.

Enjoyed the book. Dunno what to expect from the movie, I haven't even seen the trailers. I like my sci-fi thrillers though, and this has some real kino potential.
