I wouldn't say they're especially popular here. They just have a small fanbase that cares enough about the series to still try to drum up discussion every now and then. BR1 in particular is flawed, but also unique enough that anyone it appeals to might be pretty passionate about it. The extremely personal character-driven narrative, aesthetics/presentation, and writing that actually follows the principle of "show, don't tell" makes the game stand out. There are surprisingly few magical girl RPGs in general, for that matter, and the others I'm aware of are largely pretty old.

The combat mechanics themselves aren't bad, but it can be hard to notice that because the difficulty is so low. Second Light can be pretty fun on the highest difficulty setting, but they made the unfortunate decision to lock that behind clearing the game once.

I think it's more that while they have deeply incompatible personalities/values and genuinely don't see eye-to-eye, Mao does respect Hinako once she realizes Hinako's actions and motives are genuine, and is willing to make an effort to cooperate for the greater good.

There's the YouTube channel Eclectic Translations, the story of the mobile game is translated at least partially.

The concept of Ying and Yang suddenly came to mind, with how Hinako and Mao are like polar opposites and have very different values, but they still want to protect their school and what they love...they work together in the end.

...It may just be a coincidence unlike other things about the franchise which may have been intentional but Hinako's underwear is partially white and Mao wears black underwear, I admit that it's one of the things that made me think about the concept of Yin and Yang...that said, it's mostly because of the back, the back of Hinako's bra and panties is white but the front is mostly another color/design, Mao's underwear is black regardless if it's the front or back, so, Yin and Yang or ''black and white'' doesn't fully apply in this case...

That said, concept art shows that Hinako originally wore (or was going to wear) simpler whtite underwear (with blue bows) and Mao always wore black underwear, so who knows...

It's been disussed before that the first one is an okay game at best and Blue Reflection: Second Light is a good game (something like a 7.7/10 at most)...it really depends on what you're looking for considering that both games are easy RPGs more or less, but if you like the graphics/art style, music (oh, the music! I love it), emotional story and moments especially in the first game, and the characters...you may like the games. You have to like or at least tolerate some fanservice though, also, both games don't have English voices.

Like Britta (Food4Dogs) said, if you are depressed or going through something, playing something similar or emotional can help but it depends on the person, Hinako is initially introvert and she should be going through depression at the start of the game...needless to say, it's not exactly a very "warm and comfy" game, it's a relaxing game with amazing characters and story but without saying more, the game can be sad or depressing.

If you want something warm and comfy, an Atelier Game, especially the Arland games (I haven't played them) or the Mysterious games would be better.

You can at least gen an idea with this collage, her swimsuit reveals her cleavage and when she's in her undies her cleavage and large breasts can be noticeable.

Its prospects don't look great right now. Gust seems to be increasingly focused on just Atelier, some significant staff members who worked on Blue Reflection aren't there anymore, and the failure of the gacha might make Gust's higherups and KT hesitant to greenlight a new entry even if the actual games were modestly successful.

Some people at Gust at least claim to still be interested in the series, though, and franchises in worse shape have come back from the dead before, so you never know.

I know, I've played a lot of PS Vita games, Tearaway, Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational and Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X have beautiful graphics and they look really nice to this day, they are games that show what the PS Vita is capable of when it comes to graphics. Games developed by Gust for PS Vita however, those games have increasingly worse graphics, Atelier Sophie looks better than Atelier Firis which also looks a little better than Atelier Lydie & Suelle for example...
