Fate/Stay Night has three routes, and it has multiple endings.
There are also "Bad Ends" which are basically game overs when you make the wrong decisions, although you are definitely meant to see them since they give out more info and some extra lore, not to mention getting all bad ends has its own reward.
Picrel only scratches the surface since there are more than 10 days

Fate/Hollow Ataraxia is a LOT more interactive and has couple of fun minigames

The main reason why anons dislike VNs are

It has nothing to do with gameplay(other than the reading part). It is what many consider as an "insult" for even existing. It is the same hatred towards Turn-based JRPGs(especially DQ) or walking sim stuff. They should be games that appeal to them. Art and media they don't like shouldn't exist in their opinion and should be nonstop ridiculed. You can see the clearest examples of that one guy spamming BG3 webms for 3 years straight, or that one DK Bananza water webm, or that one guy hating on FFX and samefagging in his own threads with same pictures.

Most important thing to remember in /v/ in general, is that majority of the people have already made up their minds and refuse to change them. They marry their opinions to the point that any differing one is seen as "enemy", "other side", or just as a direct attack.
It is like arguing on Twitter or Reddit, which like 80% of /v/'s userbase is from.
