I always thought that playing as a Ditto would be kino, but something about this game feels off. The price tag certainly doesn't help. I get the impression there's not really anything to do after you learn all of the probably 10 Pokémon echoes and collect a dozen or so 'Mon for your little village which is probably heavily restrictive in how much you can do to it and what even goes on in it.
I'll just start a new farm on Stardew lmao, fuck Gamefreak and Jewtendo.

High critic score because they didn't pay for it and they're probably going to be in full TPC defense mode now that Gen 10 is announced with a release year and they want to be in the super-duper early release club.
User scores flail around wildly like a wacky waving inflatable tube man as reviews range from "holy shit this isn't worth $70" to "stop complaining, you have a JOB right?" to "the game sucks" vs "it's for kids, stop complaining!"
>>734114003
What's funny about KAR is that in a year, it'd be worth a way the fuck lower score since the game's almost exclusively made to be played online with other players, and last I remember the userbase is already dead.
Mildly related: I don't understand how early access reviewers even rate MP-focused games that high in the first place, since I can't imagine they have much/any players to play against. Other reviewers? Bots?
I guess the dev/publisher could easily do the "don't rate us too harshly, it's still early access, uwu" thing.

You'd think, but /vp/ doesn't actually care about many parts of the franchise.
They talk about the mainline games, some scattered anime threads, and then there's some generals for mobage, TCG, and fanworks (romhacks, OCs, fanfics). The rest of the threads are image dumps of either the nice pokemon art or coomer variety.
Recently there's been a PokeSpe general, but it's just more image dumping. The people there typically dislike it despite never reading it.
Sometimes there's also a PMD thread or general, but they come and go. Threads for Ranger or Conquest pop up occasionally. There's also threads for the Orre games semi-frequently but they're all bait threads for samefagging.
Incidentally it isn't good for discussing the mainline games or anime either since there's a lot of bad actors that intentionally shit up every thread.
There's literally no reason for a pokemon fan to use /vp/ basically.

I'm just not sure there's much reason to pick it up if your goal isn't to play multiplayer and/or make screenshots to share on social media. What even is there to the game itself? I know there's a story with a beginning and end, but is the process just making the Pokemon homes and giving them items? Is there, like, exploration in the caves and forests and whatnot? How much of the game is just building stuff and talking to NPCs?

It's like minecraft (but watered down, kind of). You go on adventures to find settlements and shit and fight monsters to get materials to build the houses and fences and wells and shitters that your town needs to level up. Then monster come to attack it and you drive them off. After you build the town up you go to another continent and make a similar one with a new spin.
That's DQ builders. Pokemon will probably be like that with a few new spins on how the towns and pokemon work.

Just to say, the game isn't really "free range" it's actually quite railroad-y. You need to do this quest to upgrade your town, for which you need to go to find X. You can't do anything with X if you find it before.
You still control how the town you build looks like but there's a lot of specific things you need to do (like a toilet needs to have 3 "toilet"s 1 "sink" etc. With no choice on how those look like) so there's not that much freedom in what you can build during the story mode.

and the nintendo direct showcase for resident evil didn't show a single zombie being shot.
nintendo is slipping back into babymode territory real fast and you never know if it's just for the trailer or if the whole game will be childproofed

Anyone who cares about Metacritic scores is an absolute tard.
Find a critic whose views and criticism you find accurate even if they don't like games you like, and follow them instead.

"One of the most surprising and wonderful elements is the story. So much of my delight in Pokopia is in wandering through this ruined version of Kanto, collecting notes and logs explaining what happened to the world and stumbling into locations that will be recognizable to longtime Pokémon fans like me. Walking into a ruin and feeling the gut-punch as I realized where I was and what happened here really, really hit, and Pokopia's capitalization on that feeling is pristine."
This might become one of the biggest system sellers for NS2

I don't care much about RE games. And didn't notice metacritic threads. Anyway, stop following Metacritic as some declaration of game quality. Be it RE or not.
High score doesn't mean game is good. Low score doesn't mean game is bad.
>>734128386
Well in that case /v/ is normalfag central. Not a surprise for anyone.

>And what really made me fall in love with POKOPIA was that Mr. Mime had a gender option; Ms. Mime was a possibility, just as "Mime" was. As a non-binary genderfluid, this truly made me feel represented and seen, and coming from a Pokémon game, one of my most prized childhood-franchises, it really felt like I was being appreciated for the person I am today.
Interesting...

Pokopia is made by the people who made dragon quest builders.
Dragon Quest builders is like Minecraft but with some Animal Crossing aspects (town building and villagers but not a login simulator). The appeal of DBQ is the extensive campaign where you're essentially building a town from zero to achieve a main quest goal. One town has you rediscover farming (its a rough universe) and grow a giant tree, another has you purify a poisonous swamp, another one is a mining village where you need to dig to the bottom while laying rail tracks etc
Pokopia is supposed to have a similarly long campaign according to reviewers. But if you like the idea of an Animal Crossing game that isnt just a daily chore simulator but instead a full blown story game then you should enjoy it

for me as much as I liked DQB and I beat both games, the second one twice, I never really enjoyed the combat aspect of it which does become a pretty big part eventually. The final islands in DQB2 are base defense focused.
So Pokopia just being building with a goal is really appealing. Also I really love Viva Pinata but the 2nd game isnt on PC. This game is basically ripping off part of Viva Pinata in the best way in the capture system
