>completely destroy the RAM/SSD market
>AI datacenters are enormous land and resource hogs, including fuckhueg amounts of water
>increasingly becoming a nuisance everywhere it appears online
>all so these things can eventually take your job from you, something they openly acknowledge and make no attempt to deny
>still not a single practical benefit for the average everyday person or improvement in society in any way
How do these AI companies expect people to continue to tolerate something which has had such an overwhelmingly negative impact on basically everything it touches while providing almost no benefit?

It's not. Myrient IS shutting down because they were not making enough money from donations and had to keep the site running with their own money. And then the skyrocketing hardware prices made server maintenance even harder.

You're just a new generation of people accusing mexicans of taking your jobs. This has always been the direction of humanity, technology improves, and replaces workers. At first the machined work is subpar, then par, then exceeds and far exceeds that of a human workers for the same cost. That isn't a bad thing. As a society, we should always be working towards reducing the amount of work we have to do.

Millions of jeets, yes.
High quality coders to oversee that AI is making code that's actually functional and debugging when it doesn't (Shit that's literally 90% of the job already) will still be around and can't be replaced.
>>

AI can already replace tons of jobs
Every useless secretary, every useless help desk pajeet, every useless marketing shill, every accountant, every voice actor, most low skill artists, anyone who's job is just making powerpoints

I work with hardware design, and it has helped me immensely. copilot makes it easy to deliver in a few hours, what previously would have taken me weeks. Much of my company also relies on old, unmaintained codebases from people who left the company long back, and having a tool which can easily ingest the context of a large code-base to proactively flag legacy conflicts is invaluable. Is it at the point where it can fully replace an employee? Absolutely not, it's logical reasoning is terrible, and it can't make decisions free of influence, but in terms of the basics that an entry level programmer would be doing, or a field like a paralegal, it's definitely at the stage of outright replacing, if not downsizing people.
If you work with hardware, you probably understand there's a start difference between people who just do "work" vs those who actually have to solve problems. AI can easily replace the former.
>>
>>734116709
Most of this scarcity is due to AI companies buying future production. If they fold long before the production date, it's on the other AI companies to buy up said stock. If a major player folds or dramatically scales back the others will likely follow leading to a glut in the market, which will see prices fall as chip manufactures now have all this material to fulfil the demand that has now gone up in smoke.

I get that you're a poorfag whos' never held a job, but surely you understand that "useless" in this context means they are retards, accomplishing a bare minimum. If you have a team of 10 people that are 90% useless, you get 100% usefulness out of them on aggregate. At the end of the day, they're useful idiots you can assign grunt work to.

The problem herer is not that the AI is doing the work of a entry level worker, its that there is no accountability or oversight when the kind of menial tasks you would leave to them so when things fuck up its increasingly difficult to resolve the issue. if a paralegal makes up a case or fakes a reference, you can go back to them and catch the problem, if an AI does it theres no guarentee it won't do it again or that anyone will catch it before it gets taken to trial and sinks the whole thing on a technicality. I've personally used copilot in a similar way, to trawl through laws to pick out areas that are relevent to a case, but i only really use it as a search engine becuase i cannot trust what it puts out to be accurate or reliable

Anybody who parrots this line about "well your job must be pretty useless if AI can replace it" is a mouthbreathing retard who has no understanding of what AI can and can't do. AI has applications where it will always be vastly superior than a human, and others where it will never be comparable to a human.
Crucially, nobody who repeats this line came to this conclusion organically and is almost certainly barking at the command of someone else.

Almost nobody has a job that can be done by chatGPT.
But the usage of chatGPT can make some jobs more productive. The more productive each individual worker is the fewer workers you need overall to manage the workload.
It's like if you give a bunch of construction workers power tools instead of hammers. They'll get the work done faster so you won't need as many workers to do the job. Nobody's job is being done by a nail gun. But the usage of nail guns did reduce the need for human labor.

You'll either lose your job or be forced to use AI to do more work in the same amount of time.
It's a lose lose for you.
Reminds me of a Star Trek episode where they talk about what would happen if they dropped a Replicator in 21st century Earth. The idea of sharing the technology equally to improve everyone's lives wouldn't even occur to them. They would just find a way to exploit it for financial gain. Wars would break out over who gets access to it.
Our society is not ready to handle that sort of development.
>>
>>
>>734119924
I'm already using, and developing AI tools which have significantly reduced my workload. So far, like any other tool, I expect that AI will continue reduce the shitty, menial tasks that people with actually skills don't need to waste their time with. My guess from the way you're arguing probably means you're either unemployed, or a poorfag, like all doomers are.

I've been trying to raise awareness of this problem since before AI.
Any advancement in productivity reduces demand for human labor, and we need to take care of the people who lose their jobs. All the gain from the extra productivity will go to the top while the workers have to do more work, and the people who are laid off are forced into trash jobs with a lower standard of living or simply become homeless.
This problem has been increasing ever since the invention of the computer which has automated away a fuckton of stuff that used to be handled with paperwork and human labor. We can all take pride in the increased efficiency, but not if we're throwing the workers in the trash and leaving them to rot.

Just using analogies to make things easier to understand.
Sorry I didn't think of any videogame analogies.
How about this one.
If you automate production in a survival crafting game you don't just sit around waiting for it to finish. You go out and do other stuff while it works in the background. So increasing productivity doesn't decrease your workload. It only increases your gains. Although in a videogame you get to keep the gains. In real life the gains are funneled into child sex trafficking rings.

Automation redistributes wealth from the bottom to the top. The solution is naturally to redistribute wealth from the top to the bottom to compensate.

No your wages stay the same no matter how much your productivity is improved by technology.
This is why wages have stagnated while productivity has skyrocketed. It all started with the computer age creating a golden age of automation.
But all that extra money from that extra productivity went to the top which is why wealth inequality became insane.

Why shut it down? Can't the owner just say "bros, I don't have money to keep adding storage, so enjoy the 98374928346927364923674982734890723890 roms we already have, but we can't upload more, cheers"?

that's because it was never intended to make anyone's life easier, just make a very small amount of people rich. even if everything was automated, prices wouldn't go down. all that will happen is it will just put people out of work, so they will instead RAISE prices so their profit margins don't go down. the leftranny dream that if everything is autmated means nobody will have to work is a generally retarded notion and you'd have to be a retard to have ever believed that this was going to happen.

this isn't efficient and probably never will be
extensive testing has been done and it's pretty much impossible for us to create an identical amount of beef with any less than like 100x the power a cow requires to make the same amount of beef
plus, the lab grown flesh requires a lot of fancy and expensive equipment with trained personnel while the cow requires grass and a place to shit it out
lab grown will probably always be more expensive than actual meat, you're just going to get given grains and beans in the form of meat if you're lucky

Yes but those were 20-30 years ago, propaganda world wide was pushing for global warming, reducing emissions and energy consumption, all of this in the main stream media as well as shows and movies just 4-5 years ago, every single fucking day, now nobody talks about it.

>How do these AI companies expect people to continue to tolerate something which has had such an overwhelmingly negative impact on basically everything it touches while providing almost no benefit?
My dude we saw the confirmation that 99% of the world's elites rape children and literally nothing of importance came out of it.
No mass arrests, no mass protests, no billionaire killings, fucking nothing.
They already won, they realized they can do literally anything and the world won't react.

Automatization with a high failure rate is what it is at the moment.
If the failure rate can be brought down it will be electricity/steam engine/fire 2.0, if it can't, it will have been a couple of years of higher hardware prices until production has caught up.
I understand that spergs don't like that, but it's worth the "risk" and new production facilities are already being built.

Early dall-e threads were drowning in soul, then the novelty wore off and they went to shit like every general.
I think that models in general have been decaying due to inbreeding and ingesting their own slop. Early dall-e did more interesting things with lighting and composition than modern models because it didn't have 3000000 AI generated pictures destroying its training data

I will concede that one good thing AI has done was expose writting essays as pointless busy work. Unless I'm a reporter who's paid to write shit nobody cares about there is zero practical real world benefit about reaching an arbitrary word count on a topic. Learning how to purple prose a simple sentence is worthless.

As a slop hater I gotta admit that EARLY AI gen was way more fun and actually SOVLFUL.

The "you will own nothing" meme is very real. You used to back your phone photos up on your computer, but now people just pay for a Google Photos/iCloud cloud subscription and let it auto backup. People used to buy physical music, then digital music, but now all the zoomers just use Spotify. You used to buy movies and shows but now you just use streaming. Even gaming tried to go cloud based but I guess the lag keeps that from happening. Next will be out phones and computers. Your phone won't have an operating system on it, your phone will merely be a streaming device to stream the operating system which is stored on the cloud somewhere. Same with windows on your computer

>You're just a new generation of people accusing mexicans of taking your jobs. This has always been the direction of humanity, technology improves, and replaces workers
Incorrect. This is the direction from which neoliberal economics has chosen for us since Reagan which dictates that the gdp and company value has to go up no matter what, therefore its cheaper if spics and chinks and robots do our own labour rather than your countryman. No where does it say we had to go in this direction and nowhere does it say that this is "progress."
Also there's a difference between personal "I want to do this for me" work and job work and normalfags and /v/ get this wrong hence why they constantly blow their brains out that's how we find meaning so reducing all of it is no bueno.

>Next will be out phones and computers. Your phone won't have an operating system on it, your phone will merely be a streaming device to stream the operating system which is stored on the cloud somewhere. Same with windows on your computer
Then I won't be using them and i'll just game on chink handhelds or go outside and read books.
I do understand that the J's want us to live in the big brother reality but the problem is that we do actually need real humans to do real physical work and that shit will never be not true because we live in a physical world.
This is why the powers that be can not destroy the bread and circuses because if they do shit WILL hit the fan sooner or later.
In Brave New World they had SOMA to appease the normies but in reality this would destroy the economy as you can't have drugged out retards slamming shit on their keyboards/ slack off on manual work 24/7 and expect things to run smoothly.
In 1984 the Proles live outside the Big Brother System and we do not have an outside view of the world beyond the MC's country.
I doubt the supposed 3 empire world from the book managed to actually conquer the entire planet. Living in giga chad places like deserts and ice tundras won't allow the faggot sniveling cück elites to control humanity there.
For a real world example, there are places in China that Mao Tze Dong's communist empire never touched, which is why there are places full of untouched natural beauty and old shrines in modern China still to this day.
So all of this you'll own nothing and be happy doom and gloom is overblown, even if the faggots that control the world are actively pushing for mass surveilance, at best it'll only affect giant cities (but even then there will always be slums and legal gray zones) and at worst there will be cücked countries like China under Mao and Romania under Ceausesku until they invetiably impolde and return to a somewhat manageable status que instead of pure hell on earth suffering.

It's impressive how little AI has improved the gaming scene despite being chalked up as the big thing.
Instead of using it to optimize or streamline internal processes like coding, compilation, compression or other material that could justify letting them run internally, all they were ever used for were on the visual side of things which ranged from mid to just pure slopfication.
What impressed me the most was the retarded devs who bragged about using AI without disclosing it in the description, only to then get slammed down for dishonesty and start pulling the victim card.

>TEH AI ITS ALL TEH AI
No, its corporate greed and having a CFPB among other agencies that, under the current administration, will not implement any sort of regulation to keep a handful of corpos from monopolizing not just all the current hardware, but buying all future fab, so that other industries are fucked over. Worse, they're doing it with not only banker zero interest loans, but the gov't basically saying
>don't worry, the bubble won't pop we're going to be giving you a blank check so long as you say nice things about YUGE BIGLY SUCCESS of my administration
You're mad at the wrong thing, and AI culture war bullshit is no more legitimate than patreon "artists" screeching about how its for heckin chuderinos and is stealing from their cub porn commissions. If you want to be pissed, be angry at the handful of proprietary megacorps trying to sell SaaS access to their super sekrit proprietary models, like so called "openAI" who are doing all of this - some random anons making LoRAs for their self hosted porn generators, honing chatbot models, or creating a stand-alone virtual assistant are not the issue here.
>>
>>734142346
and to add, if everyone is tied to an IP and you can't say no no words or they'll cut your interet or possibly arrest you, people still won't stop posting slurs and shitting on their politicians en masse (as that is inmately human) and you can't arrest the entire population no matter how much they coom to the idea of owning an actual prison planet.
So as I see it, it's multiple Satanic corpos trying to degrade, demoralize and instill fear in humanity but that requires organisation on such a huge scale that it can't possible be managed world wide no matter how much they try.
For an example, check out how jeetcrosoft fucked windows and unleashed an age where normies actually started tinkering on their pc's either by installing beginner linux distros or debloating 11 or even returning to 10 for the first time instead of shut up and guzzling their cum.
You can't trick the entire human population into being in the boiling frog hypothetical if you fuck up and randomly increase heat.
However their greed and retardation will always make them fuck up and increase the hear and they realised that too, which is why they tried making AI to count the optimal way to boil us, which ironically fucked them as that was another way into increasing the heat too much and now people are very dissatisfied and angry at not some foreign invaders but at their own governments.

Isn't it to retard the populace in order for them not to think about their existance meaningfully? Every journalist website has clickbait articles about something political, and they expect paying for that article to get access to it.
4Chan Pass
“consent” dialogs (pay money for remove the dialog)
Ads (pay money for remove ads)
Amazon, netflix, Spotify, etc.
You daily budget for Internet should be $400 USD for this, Erista and every other service with Donations.

>>
>>734145080
A shift in labor requirements almost always results in a shift in labor requirements. There will be new fields/roles opened up, likely requiring more skilled labor. That doesn't have anything to do with being an entry level position, or not. In fact, these kinds of workforce evolutions typically favor the younger generation of talent, since it is easier for them to adapt.

No one will know that, since the field is still in its infancy, but most things will likely do with maintaining the infrastructure, or roles to manage the increased scale of work. For example, even now, that's a huge increase in demand for anyone working in datacenters, from devops roles, to construction. Additionally, there will be increased labor requirements for electrical supply/infrastructure. For the non-support side, there will probably be a significant increase in logistical overhead, for example, if trucks/trains for transport are automated, there will need to be a new labor force to schedule/route them.

>Atman's an ass but that's completely correct
no he isnt, the price and cost factor is completely ignored. if you need a hugeass datacenter or server to replace a single workunit, it isnt worth it. a server also doesnt pay for social services, insurance and other taxes. it also doesnt commute, so that whole GDP factor is also erased at higher costs for the owner of the server. it literally has no use. there is also no control over the dataset, since the pseudointelligence will still be wrong a lot of the times
>>
>>734149404
The entire datacenter is serving a multitude of different requests. Most of the computing power is consumed from training models, once a model is trained, actual query cost is extremely low power. Also, a server does pay for social services, insurance, and other taxes, since it's production, maintenance, and cost are all contributing to these things along the way. And more importantly, it is also not drawing from these social services.
