How long til devs announce studio closure?
>>
>>734118686
As long Highguard has even one player, it won't die!
>>
It will live on rent free in the 4trans hivemind long after the servers shut down
>>
>>734119039
Around 3 months. The skeleton crew running the game right now is just leaving it open long enough to justify not giving refunds for closing too quickly
>>
>>734119491
What refund nigga? its a free game.

welcome, to highACKKKK

As if anyone could forget.
Though it still begs the question of why. Did Tencent really try to push it, or is Geoff an idiot?

A month

Wonder how much the investors are seething

You could have had a blast
>>
>>734124584
those dumb fuck investors can rope themselves like the trannies who got laid off by the studio itself. Imagine actually wanting to invest money in this shit.

If i had investor-money, i wouldn't even have invested in fucking Ashes of creation let alone this shit. And i WANTED ashes to succeed.

>>734118686
so this is the power of geoff keighley shilling. 100 concurrent players in a month
>>
>>734122880
>feel bad
why? the market is fixing itself, trash and low quality dogshit it eliminating itself.
its not a reason to be sad, its a reason to rejoice!
>>
>>734124428
~150k but the dubious thing is it "peaked" like an hour after going live in the middle of a Thursday afternoon and didn't repeak during the weekend leading me to believe it was botted to shit on launch
>>
>>734124749
the power of geoff keighley shilling was 97k players day one
>>
>>734124749
no that's the power of being a trash garbage game.
the initial wave of people willing to try the game was reasonable
>>
>>734124772
i wanted to get the tutorial out of the way before the weekend and then none of my friends wanted to play anyways.
installed spyware shit for no reason
>>
>>734124813
most of those installs were to make fun of the game in the reviews
>>
>>734119428
you lost you retarded tranny
>>
>>734125078
not even that, only around 30k players bothered leaving a review and half of those were negative
>>
>>734124813
97k on Steam. It was also released for consoles. So I'll be super generous and say anywhere from 300k to 400k concurrent.
They couldn't even maintain 5% of the playerbase. Now that's a shit game for you.
>>
>20 perma-ingame devs

never
In the current landscape PS and Xbox combined equal PC numbers. You might even say Xbox numbers barely matter anymore.
200k is still impressive and it probably would've been fine if they could maintain 1/3 of that number.

I really want to meet the playtesters who said this game was actually good, not just good but had staying power.
I imagine the 5 year old girl coming home from kindergarten getting praised by her parents for her crayon picture.

Do we know why this game was given the closing zinger of the Game Awards? I genuinely think this game would have been fine if:
>there wasn't a twitter post pre award show about how it costs a quarter million to put a trailer in the game awards
>the trailer was somewhere at the start or in the middle
>>
>>734119491
surely it's cheaper to refund than to maintain the studio running
>>
>>734124240
you monster wtf
>>
>>734125078
that likely didn't even account for 10% of installs

It's because of its positioning at the end with the hyping from Geoff that it reached nearly 100k CCUs. It's its own fault it couldn't retain them.

>>734127640
Since when have currency microtransactions ever been refunded on the EOS of a gas game?
>>
>>734127868
>It's because of its positioning at the end with the hyping from Geoff that it reached nearly 100k CCUs

A game like this didn't need that though. They could have had a modest launch, build a playerbase through community feedback and then scale up
>>
>>734127834
So.. what game Geoff is going to 'highguard' this year? i love Geoff effect
>>
>>734127990
>They could have had a modest launch
Not with Tencent money backing them; they needed to catch whales.
>>
>>734128063
something that looks like Titanfall 3 or TESVI for the first 5 seconds of the trailer.
>>
>>734128316
ah.. well, rip Exodus then
>>

>In the current landscape PS and Xbox combined equal PC numbers.
This just isn't true. I remember Nightdive saying that the majority of their sales are on consoles, and that's despite most of their releases being for franchises that are historically PC-centric.
>>
>>734124813
This. If they made any money at all, it’s thanks to Geoff.
>>
>>734129082
and what games does Nightdive make except some niche indie and remakes?
Capcom and Helldivers 2 devs disagree
>>
>>734128739
>The industry goes out of its way to fuck over Drew Karpyshyn again
Sounds about right.
Even if it flops I hope it’s good enough to fill the hole left behind by Mass Effect killing itself as a franchise.
>>
>>734124473
Why not both?
>>
>>734118686
Forever if it were an offline single player game.
>>
>>734118686
Servers for 200 people aren't that expensive.
>>
>>734119039
They ditched already 90% of it´s staff, right? I don´t think anyone would notice that they are completely gone..
>>
>>734133354
They're hosted on AWS and the maps are huge. It's expensive.

How long until you stop making hourly threads about games clearly nobody cares about?
