Just beat kunimatsu in ng+, i thought the gaki talisman to slow down his would work here but he still regens Ki so fast even with 2 scampuss going up his ass. Took much longer for me to beat him compared to hiruko as I kept getting grabbed by his stupid grapple in phase 2 where he can quickly follow it up from his 3 swing melee combo, or played too greedy in the first phase.
I was almost considering also dropping sloth talisman on him to create more openings as shock status doesnt last long for him, but the lightning calamity still does a good amount of damage on him.

>>
>>734125810
RE6 is fucking garbage. Even if you enjoy the retarded shooting for whatever reason, the game is still at least 60% atrocious setpieces. Capcom thought they could make Uncharted or Call of Duty and they couldn't come close.

>>734125520
I was stuck on him for a couple days too. I just used soul devourer for the axe and actually learned his fight to beat him. In NG I barely got to see his moveset.
I'm definitely not sparing him at the end now

I really like the open world and I don't know why people prefer the mission mode given how disconcerting it is for flow. The only downside is how long it takes to unlock refightable bosses. TN knows how much people like to do that
>>
>>734123109
What's there to talk about? From the start half the threads was occupied by trannies jerking over their avatars and haing shipping wars over which yokai they'd like to look like. Now that they nerfed Todo all the shitter newfags that actually played it for the watered down casualized gameplay from older installments got too filtered to bother it can finally take it's rightful place on /vg/ - tranny central.

Streamlining missions to fit in an "open field" wasn't overall worth it. Missions had much more visual variety alone by not having to compromise in a shared world space. Addressing how much time was wasted in menus would've been much more productive.
>>
>>734123109
They recycled a shit ton of content and somehow managed to have no variety in regular mobs, while having you fight Enenra, the Zuki bros and Kamaitachi multiple times. I completed the game but have no strong desire to replay it until the DLCs drop.

It was my first Nioh game and I put like 50hours in it. I loved it.
I want to try 2 now but I’m scared I’ll get filtered hard. Is it really that hard? And is there any way to be overpowered with a build like Ninja mode in 3 ?

Nonsense. Nioh 1 is just as fun to play today as it was back in the day. The extra moves from 2 are very nice additions, but you can still enjoy the first game plenty

I was the anon who complained about the boring heavy stance hold Y axe combat. I just unlocked the woodchopper homerun move which, lucky me, was from the first and only master I've killed so far and I'm having fun again.
I also unlocked the hold Y move that is the basic hold Y heavy stance move but with more damage, insane tracking and for some reason insane forward movement, which is pretty good.
Can I somehow have both of these moves in the same stance even if they regularly have the same input?
Like assign one of them to 'hold X' or something?
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>734129223
I've killed it twice now, first at level 45ish and second time at level 100.
The first kill gave me some nice loot but you level up so fast when youre so low, and the second kill gave me literally level 11 stuff
>>
>>
>>
>>734129223
you get the loot from the red graves around it and also his soulcore at your level but you outlevel everything in 10 minutes if you just go play the game that it doesn't seem like a good deal.
People just fight him for the challenge I think.
>>
>>
>>734129154
>boring heavy stance hold Y axe combat
I'm confused, what you should be doing is mid stance tornado's edge -> victory rush -> tornado's edge because they chain together with the martial skill and you stack damage reduction / stam reduction so you can just keep going

But with wo long and rotr between 2 and 3 it did accelerate the staleness, I'm a bit bored with it at bakumatsu

beat it, progressed so far into ng+, no point in grinding items cus they're gonna get invalidated by dlc
i await more content
>>
Just finished it. Who the fuck thought that it would good not to enough samurai points to unlock all the moves for all the weapons through NG?
Overall I'm very disappointed.
> game is way too easy, way way too easy
> ninja mode weapons losing their stances
> graphics are broken, especially the reflections.
> barely any new armors, barely any new memorable enemies
> can't assign different genders to samurai and ninja mode
> open world gives less environment variety (3rd map looks horrendous btw), less time fighting mobs and more time moving from point A to point B
> weird change of martial art bindings for some weapons. Why are most of the Odachi's move on the hold button ? Why is Ocean Zephyr, a snappy dodge move, assigned to guard + X now, making it completely useless?
> story lacks the charm of the previous ones, despite having a better concept. Huge missed opportunity to expand Nioh outside Japanese history had they stuck with mission mode.
> no option to turn off the cum meter in samurai mode
> Fuku censorship
Nioh 2 is my favorite game ever and this game an unworthy successor.

This is my only real issue. They had an excuse to do a lot of cool shit with the story and time travel and did absolutely none of it.

I finally got around to beating it last night, but I'm debating if it's even worth playing NG+. The design of this game doesn't really seem to lend itself to NG+ as well as the mission structure from 1 and 2. I also aptly predicted that the bosses would become more obnoxious with readability and attack spam due to the insanely overtuned defensive options in this game. Granting every weapon deflect or evade is a fucking mistake. Defensive mechanics being weapon exclusive is just a much more interesting design.
>>
I still don't know how to really proceed the right way when a human blocks my combos, I just do the fire tornado move that I got from the second boss(from 2) and that usually overwhelms their Ki through sheer volume if nothing else. Don't know if it applies more to other weapons but that's been my splitstaff experience.

Game feels undercooked and I spent 120€ on this shit lol
Huge map full of nothing
Very few new Yokai and unique bosses, lots of Yokai they literally could've just copy pasted are just missing for no reason (actually, it's because they can "sell" them as part of the DLCs)
I have over 30 hours in the game and there's TWO new outfits. Everything else is rehashed.
It's a good game for sure, but it's mildly disappointing in its current state. Gonna have to wait for the DLCs.

NG+ is just doing the dungeons and bosses. You have all your fast travel points outside these. It takes barely any time and there is no real difficulty increase. They'll throw in an Enenra in the dungeon but you can just run past it.

I'm not minding NG+ that much
The new lesser crucibles are fun, the new enemy bases range from shit to good and the little changes to the world map with enemy spawns is nice
I wish they just shat out more bosses all over the place though, the enenra just placed as a regular enemy in the first crucible was cool and I want more of that
>>
It's too easy for me so I went back to Nioh 1 to see how it was actually and not in my noob memories.
Turns out Nioh 1 was way harder but only at first, after a while the difficulty is about the same as 3 although normal enemies are still less aggressive than I'd like. I'll also replay Nioh 2 and finish the DLCs, maybe by the time I'm done Nioh 3 will get rebalanced. I hate ninja, it wasn't worth losing half of the weapons.

>after awhile
Immediately if you use ninjutsu/moment talismans
>Nure-onna

Carnage talismans to everything. The strongest crit builds
>The entire reason extraction talismans don't charge the gauge for shit in 2 and 3
>weaken weapon
>weaken armor
>Dragon Ninja +sword set
>instant no animation onmyo
>literally invincible crit health builds (slightly nerfed)
>the reason water sword was (slightly) nerfed in 2
>the reason reaper was nerfed and stays nerfed
>the strongest CCD passives ever were
1 was hilariously broken if you used even 1% of it's mechanics
The most dangerous ganks were also all in the bathouse since it was 1 of 3 maps where leashing everything in a zone would spell death if you weren't using a good build.
The strongest most dangerous mooks weren't any of the yokai, it was the ninja due to their substantially lower post attack cooldown
2 on launch may have had Yatsu-no-kami, Ippon-Datara, Otakemaru and Kato ninjutsu. But 1 had literally the entire game working to help you ignore the encounter design.
>>
>>
>>734137516
>I have no idea what you are talking about
Check your crucible axes, there's one that drops with a skill that has "tornado" in the name. You can unlock the crucible skill for use outside the axe by maxing the familiarity on the crucible weapon with it.
Tornado's Edge is similar to the Mad Spinner skill but has a fixed length and doesn't have as long a recovery animation or the risk of running out of ki
"Victory Rush" is a skill in the Axe tree that turns your ki pulse into a forward movement. This doubles as an attack so you don't ever have to stop attacking.
That thing where your weapon turns white will remain active between skills. Tornado into Victory Rush means you get to stick to the enemy until you decide you dont want to any more and if you have "damage reduction on attack" from your gear and the Konjushi guardian spirit from Takeda you are essentially invincible while you do it.

It's less exploits and more how nearly every tool we got in Nioh 1 was retardedly strong on launch
It's (slightly) better balanced these days.
But I still remember when Power Pill was an over 30% damage buff without a single point invested into skill.
Launch Nioh was wild, man.

>>734133570
Doesn't have anything to do with trans-shit. My OC in Nioh 2 was a sexy DOA character, but samurai armor looks better on men. The story doesn't work all that much with a female protag. They should have given Takechiyo a more memorable design instead of giving us a character creator this time. There is no reason for giving him only 2 lines in the entire game.

I have over 150 hours, I have multiple build sets at +7/+8, and have done all of the content several times over. I could farm my gear even higher but there's no point when they're going to add new set bonuses and rarity in updates. I'll hop on for some coop runs from time to time but overall I'm at the waiting stage for DLC, Way of the Nioh difficulty and the inevitable endgame.
>>
>>734138853
That's interesting, do you think this is also true for Nioh 2 on launch? I heard it was easier overall.
For Nioh 3 it's the first time I'm playing the first few versions so I'm surprised that stuff like >Todo or jank parry window bugs can even happens, not to mention the overall lacking difficulty
>>
>>
>>734137593
Much higher difficulty and better level design. Which could have been in 3 even with the open world, they were nearly there imo, all areas just neededs a few more ennemies and traps and sections where you're locked into a tiny arena beyond just the crucibles and it would have been kino.
Also Ninja is a good idea executed badly. It wasn't worth losing the stances at all, not to replace it with 3 items.

Nioh 2 was easier because the player had more mechanics to actually interact with the shit that they're fighting. But there was also less (almost none) retarded double fights.
There was still broken shit;
>everything about Ninjutsu
>launch Ippon-datara, Gozuki, Mezuki, Mitsume Yazura, Nurikabe('s guard damage), Yatsu-no-kami, Otakemaru, and probably 1-2 more I'm not remembering.
>Kusarigama Blade Spin being literally fucking bullshit overpowered
Actual broken shit;
>Hatchets not properly applying elements
>Hatchets variant moves (Shadow/Light for dual toss) not properly scaling with passives
>Hatchets Arise having mediocre tracking
>Hat
Hatchets had some issues on launch man.
>Shuten Doji getting suck
>Azai getting stuck
>Yokai skills not properly level syncing down (this one impacted us because we used to run expeditions back then)
Also shit like the Oni-bi soul cores never fucking dropped until they buffed the drop rate.
But overall a lot of the funny balance nightmares in 1 was excised completely out of the game.
Coming from 1 to 2 was a leisurely vacation for the /v/ of that time.
I still have my docs from when I was working out Yokai Shift builds and compiling data was fun. But, I more fondly remember the co-op expeditions we had every day.
Anyways, 3's "easier" compared to 2 in the same way that 2 was when compared to 1. I still like it because the mechanical depth has expanded.
I put in my survey to enable simultaneous enemy attacks, but at 200 hours in, I'm not sure that'd be received well by the playerbase if it actually happened.
A lot of encounters would turn into a bathouse tier player blender if Itsumade+Bakegani+Tengu all were allowed to gank you simultaneously. I guess we'll see.

Not the soul core which is inarguably nerfed. But the fight itself

Sure thing buddy

To this day, I still have not beaten the Toyotomi + Nine Tailed Fox sub mission from Nioh 1. In fact, after completing Two Kings and Meeting On The Other Shore, I spent a grand total of 5 minutes running around in the DLC duo fight before deciding I'd already received ample platters of Nioh's 2v1s.

Really? I'm still on my first playthrough of 2 and I find the bosses by far the easiest parts of the game. Not in a bad way either, I think it's fun how much you can shit on them with your build, but they're not very challenging at all. I did die a bunch on the Nioh 3 demo first boss, that one had so much tracking it was crazy and it made me stop using mechanics and just focus on the basics to get through it, but on Nioh 2 the more bullshit I have the less the bosses can do about it.

2 is not what I would call "hard", though it is more challenging than 1. But once you find a basic, simple build or setup that works and you don't worry too much about dynamically styling on every enemy, it's a lot easier. Once you learn the demon parry, you're basically set.

Did everything thrice over. There's nothing left for me except grinding more Glory just to level up other Clans.
I want more from the Open Field. As it is, there's little reason to go back to any of them once you've done the collectathons.
Everything is static, and the NG+ respawning Crucibles are a short lived novelty.
I want random roaming enemies, Yokai and Revenants chasing you through the map, occasional human vs yokai encounters you can join in on, things constantly respawning, Dark Realms popping up everywhere other than just the fixed locations, threat levels constantly escalating the longer you go without visiting a Shrine.
As an Abyss-equivalent, turn a more open/intact area of Kyoto into an endless playground of conflict. Shinsengumi, Choshu, and Tokugawa Yokai roaming around, fighting each other and you. Finding the exit to the next floor so you can fight a boss? Nah. You take some territory, kill enough Yokai and the boss will come find you.
>>
>>
>>
Open field killed it for me. It was always a good time in the older games to start a new level because you never really knew what you were gonna get. Even within one zone, you had wildly different environments and challenges. In Nioh 3, the whole map is pretty much the same thing.
Also, it's too easy and the cum sword mechanic is kind of stupid.

My only issue with 3 is it further nerfed movement speed from 2 which was nerfed from 1. Crouch cancels dont make it much faster so my cope is DLC will give you at least 200% movement back. (Less than 1s 700% conditional but way better than 2s lol 80%).
Nioh games are like MH; the previous games with its DLCs makes the next base game zzzzzzzz

Fighting is what these games are about. Nioh 3 is lesser because instead of a proper level, you have a bunch of tedious empty space with nothing to fight. The Hell's are the best part of the game, because they're actual levels instead of empty fields.

even if that’s the case, I am glad Team Ninja tried something new and the combat still feels good af.
me personally, I dont think about which game is the better one, I just accept that I had a blast with all three titles and move on.
>>
>>734164462
Tired of Piercing Hurl after using it for as long as I did in Nioh 2, desudesu. I used to think Chain Hurl sucks too. I seem to remember the damage being really bad in 2, I can't say for sure though since I only used Piercing. I've come to like Chain a lot in 3.
Chain Hurl is nice because it'll lock down humans and smaller yokai while giving me a ton of time to decide when and where I want to go into Wild Surge. Humans also like to put themselves in situations where they're airborne as I'm chainhurling, which knocks them down for a free grapple.
By default the range is ass, but in situations where you have the high ground, you can get some really good damage in as the enemy tries to find their way up to you. iirc, Piercing can't aim at downward angles and will just fly over heads if you're at too high of an elevation.
>>
>>734162804
There are few Skills that actually use Trained Throw, and you're still suffering the range disadvantage, so you're losing more damage from distance than you'd gain from the timing (like with Boulder Breaker's backdash before the second hatchet). It's useful if you really like using Piercing/Dual Hurl up close (1.15x damage) or the one very powerful use case of Greased Lightning (1.5x despite it not being a "throw").
The damage falloff on every thrown axe* happens pretty quick, like just outside of Quick melee distance, and it varies a bit between skill, but most drop down to around 75% damage at the furthest you could throw them on a level surface. Tireless Throw is worth it if you like throwing shit from a distance, running around and spamming Advancing Storm, sniping with Dual Hawks, and especially using the retreating skills like Death From Above and Boulder Breaker.
Use Tireless Throw. It's actually worth it.
*The high arc throws like Scaling Waterfall and Eagle Shadow don't suffer from ranged falloff. Just about everything else does.

It scales off the highest stat the most, the other two stats dont really matter as much
If you want to min max i remember that you want the highest stat at 72 before getting the secondary stat to 30 or 40
Also skill only increases martial arts damage by a really small amount even at 99, i think ninjutsu damage scales a bit better

Absolute garbage game and it's actually baffling why they went down this route. Open world slop no one asked for, terrible performance, no challenge in order to appeal to casuals, locking weapons to Samurai and Ninja mode for no reason; the list goes on and on. What the hell were they thinking!?
>>
>>734172286
Most stats don't contribute much to your base variables, and see diminishing returns in the 20-45 range.
20 minimum everything for the sake of armor requirements and getting the most of each point.
40 Magic to unlock all Soul Core slots.
The rest, spend on whatever.Skill and Intellect are objectively the best stats and pushing them to 99 is worth it

My main issue with 3's combat and the reason why the overall game feels easier is the deflect. I think it has no place in a Nioh game. Before all your defensive moves had a price - blocking cost stamina, dodging cost stamina, sprinting out of the way cost stamina so you had to learn how to use them properly otherwise you'd always be out of stamina and not be able to counterattack.
But deflect is completely free and not that hard to pull off once you get used to the animations. The enemies in this game still behave like Nioh enemies. They don't hold their attacks for 10 seconds and then do an unreactable 0.1 sec animation like in Elden Ring or Lies of P (well, some do, but they're extremely rare). They don't constantly attack you like in Wo Long, where it makes much more sense to have a deflect mechanic. Nah, they're still good ol' Nioh enemies that swing 2-3 times then wait, then swing some more, then wait. They were designed around not having access to a COMPLETELY FREE damage negation mechanic and now that you have it 99% of them can no longer pose a threat to you unless they gang up on you.
I really hope that going forward they remove deflect from the series entirely because the alternative would be making every enemy super fast and aggressive and turning the game into yet another "deflect or die" parryslop and that would be fucking terrible.

As a spearchard playing Nioh 3 there is no point in doing anything other than mid-stance strong attack, strong attack, strong attack, quick attack (the thrust), ki pulse. Repeat. You don't even need to use different moves to attack different parts of yokai when you can just jump and attack.

Knowing what's broken or cheap and the decision to abuse it simplifying your game has always been a thing in Nioh. I played through the game using every aspect of spear. Worst Nioh game, easily
Open world actually heavily detracted from the total sum of the game, it's optimized like dogshit, and Ninja is absurdly powerful whereas Samurai is most fun but obnoxiously difficult; being different styles, you have to choose between the two for stat dumping purposes, and the weapon pool has been split between styles
very good game in general, but it's a bad nioh game
>>

3 bosses are not harder then 2

I meant Playstation X. The dodge button. The problem is not multiple buttons, it's that you need to HOLD Block+Dodge to use the skill. It's a freaking dodge I don't have the time to hold a button to do it. If I remember correctly, in Nioh 2, it was assigned to pushing Block + Attack, so it was pretty snappy and reactive.
This game already has issues with eating your inputs, which the two previous games did not. It's just a mess.

They also need to increase enemy aggression. Nioh 3 enemies will not encircle you like past games. They will quite literally back off to allow 1vs1 and 1vs2 fights despite readily outnumbering you. Group fights in Nioh 1 and 2 were suitably dangerous and punished recklessness.
>>
It's enjoyable, sure, but there's just way too much to shit on it for, and the more you play, the more apparent that is.
I feared Tengu in 1 and 2, even when they were alone. In 3, they've never killed me, nor even come close.
There's like 7 human characters and half of them are Himiko in different outfits.
Thanks to above, there's fuck all guardian spirits (and three of them are fucking Ho-Oh, another three are Kusanagi).
There's a billion Gaki anywhere you go, you'll have killed hundreds by the time you finish one playthrough, but you'll have seen less than 20 of most enemies (not bosses, enemies!) even if you went after every single sidequest and 100% map completion.
There's not nearly enough weapon and armour types, which is compounded by the classic Nioh problem of getting a fuck ton of drops for every fight you get in.
Open world suffers when most of your rewards for exploration are going to be random loot no different than when you just kill a clump of throwaway enemies.
Very few new enemies, and the ones that are there suck. Yamabiko has never killed anyone ever. Nozuchi is a huge pain in the ass in a distinctly unfun way.
Every fucking thing is too easy. Ubume's scream doesn't rape your ki anymore, and unless I'm losing it, it has less range than it used to. Enemies seem universally less aggressive than the previous games. This makes the too many Gaki problem even worse, since the overused fodder enemies' worth is in being able to distract you or get cheap hits in when you're fighting something dangerous.
>>
>>734189995
People will whine how little there is to do in 3's NG+ but then forget that Nioh 2 started with a NG+ that was so infamously easy people made fun of it. Shogun's Journey is like Demon lite, not quite the ridiculous spike but it has some new things at least
>>
>>
>>734188651
>This game already has issues with eating your inputs, which the two previous games did not. It's just a mess.
No all three games had input buffering issues, it's just that they are a hell of a lot worse in 3, especially on actions while holding block.

The samurai/ninja split is just kinda pointless and stupid and doesn't add much. Not being able to use X weapon or armour based on class results in stupid shit like not being able to use the Switchglaive and Sohaya armour at the same time when the Sohaya invented the damn thing. Not to mention having two versions of Usumidori and Ornamental Sword so both classes can have it, rather than just making 1kat shared or something more sensible.

It's so much easier that I'm honestly bored at times. There are no ambushes anymore that can actually kill you. Enemies are bizarrely passive and will have amnesia if you run away even a short distance. Deflecting and ninja style entirely invalidate enemies who cannot keep up. Enemy damage in general is much lower and doesn't pose a threat. The only tangible progression roadblocks are bosses which basically defeats the very purpose of having a level with enemies before the bosses. This is not the same type of game to be really called a sequel.

>>
>>734190910
It's not just bosses, the rank and file are toned way down, too. As some examples:
You will almost never get ambushed by something that isn't a human or a Gaki in 3.
Mooks are less aggressive. Any encounter with multiple enemies will see them squandering their advantage by waiting around politely for whoever's turn it is to attack.
In 2, you had Rokurokubi to take you by surprise when attacking "humans". No such surprise anymore.
The ki damage of Ubume's scream is toned way down, removing one of the only things that made her a threat at all before.
Even grabs will rarely kill you.
Not one boss in 3 has the mobility and aggression of a Nue or Byakko.
Yamabiko has those sound-based attacks that do fucking nothing in terms of damage, but are obviously for attacking ki- yet even if you get caught by the grab, and have the thing screaming into your ear, you won't even get ki broken. What's the point in having an enemy who trades in being able to hurt you for extra ki damage if it ALSO sucks at that?
Despite 3 starting you off without your stances, you almost immediately get access to skills that were high tier shit in 1 and 2.You can have Kurama Sword Dance before your first Crucible in 3, it was a rare drop from a boss in the 2 DLC. This does make the early game more fun, but it also means things get easy faster.
>>
>>734188671
Once your Samurai balls are full, your next strong attack or Skill will cost zero Ki
Following Strongs/Skills will retain a lot more Ki for you to Pulse
All strongs and Skills become Critical hits

I am not finding it much different from prior games minus normal enemy fights being a bit easier. The bosses sure dont feel much different to me. The 4 heavenly kings fight is slapping my shit more than 95% of the fights in nioh 2 did.
>>
>>734190910
It means you have a different gameplay style compared to other people. Not having trouble with this game means you likely fall into one of the following categories:
1. You have experience playing Nioh games and you've been playing them recently before Nioh 3 came out so you wouldn't get rusty
2. You've been using crutches to get through the game, such as Sloth Talismans, Benevolent Graves, and the Todo Clan before that got nerfed
3. You've been heavily using Ninja Mode and/or the new jumping mechanic which can trivialize a lot of fights
>>
The game made me want to replay nioh 2 from scratch rather than do ng+. I feel nioh really did not need to be an open world game, and the style changes really limited it as well. There's also less build variety.
>>
>>
>>734191316
This, there's far less scumbag embushes and actual encounter design anymore, for the most part, and the aggression and damage just isn't the same. I still have fun with 3 by soloing the battle scrolls through, those are great, lots of enemies and better spawns this way.
Still I decided to drop the game for now and wait for patches or maybe the first dlc.

It's obvious that TN is done with difficult games when you look at what they've done to NG2B, adding a while new difficulty tier just to make easy mode the new normal. They don't care anymore.
>>
>>734193461

Ki was never a limiting factor on dodging, but yes Deflect does simplify a lot of things because it recovers instantly and turns into a block on failure. So it is a low risk, zero commitment option with zero cost which doesn't interact with positioning at all AND triggers a bunch of bonus effects including now stacking Versatility.
I feel like the best way to address this is to have a relatively large number of attacks where Deflect is not the best way to defend against them. I don't mean more grabs, I mean making really big hits cause longer blockstun on Deflect so that you're stuck in the Deflect animation for a decently long period of time and can't immediately act.
That would reward you for knowing when you should be avoiding a big swing instead of just sitting there effortlessly *plink* invalidating the massive single hit enemy attacks which as you said were never designed for a game where you can Deflect.
>>
>>
>>734193461

What you're not telling them is that when you actually swing at the thing it has endless hyperarmour and if it happens to attack at the same time as you decide to commit it will oneshot you with an overhead because the game doesn't give you any yokai magic to cancel out of your attack animations and enemy health/damage was relatively much higher in Nioh1

What you are describing is pretty much MH-style levels of blockstun. It could work, but I think TN will resort to what everyone else does to counter parries and deflects, multihits and aftershocks/explosions.
I stand by my opinion that red attacks were worse for Nioh as a franchise than deflect is, they invalidate moves that could've been interesting openings. Deflect doesn't stop nor stun yokai enemies and I think there are ways to balance it unlike red moves, which are actually reaching Elden Ring level of delays and fast releases.

>What you are describing is pretty much MH-style levels of blockstun
Sure. Not on every attack of course, on big and heavy attacks so that dodging or moving out of the way becomes a better way to deal with them. Deflect can continue doing what it's doing on light multihit attacks.
>what everyone else does to counter parries and deflects: multihits and aftershocks/explosions
These do not "counter" Deflects, because they don't allow other approaches to be better alternatives. Parrying multiple hits is comfortable because parries recover instantly and cost nothing, while dodging multiple hits may require you to spend Ki multiple times and may lead to you being caught in dodge recovery by a followup attack because dodges do not negate hitboxes on contact, dodging around multiple hitboxes requires extra precision.
You could design multi-hit attacks that favour dodging if you have attack sequences with very limited range where using a dodge to move out of the way means you don't have to deal with followups.... But if you haven't noticed, recent enemy design explicitly tries to prevent players doing this because every new enemy has more range, larger hitboxes and more forwards movement during their attack sequences than older enemy designs. This: >>734193573 does not exist anymore. Now you get a giant werewolf with 8 meter long claws that bumrushes back and forth across the screen covering a 50 meter area. AND they let you 'dodge' on parry anyway by just holding a direction as you do it

I've criticised Nioh 1 before for making it far too free and easy for the player to disengage and heal at will. Wirriam can lowdodge 20 times and cover a football field in 2 seconds then instantly heal to full with an elixir that he rams into his face at mach8. Enemies in Nioh 1 have no answer to this, so instead the game has to have extremely high lethality where lots of shit can oneshot you, because if it doesn't oneshot you it won't ever kill you.
At the time I argued that the answer to this should have been to make dodges and healing slower and more expensive so that the player is more vulnerable, and then you could reduce enemy damage in turn. Instead what they've done is kept the hyperspeed Elixir scoffing and instead designed enemies which move much further, much faster and have attacks that cover the whole screen. Now you fight tube worms which are barely animated but will fly to you with zero warning and that's supposed to be the threat to the player disengaging and healing. Enemy damage has been reduced in turn so everything is less threatening, but what we've lost is the ability to disengage and the importance of spacing and positioning.

I only played samurai and heavily gimped myself (did the same thing in 2) and the bosses in this game are just objectively better than most of the base Nioh 2 bosses
Way faster, bigger movesets, more coverage on their moves. I don't believe people when they look at shit like enenra, ryomen sukuna or even magara naotaka and say those bosses are harder than shit like hiruko, jakotsu or demon of pride/envy. The balancing sucks stat wise but in terms of raw movesets 3 really stepped up the game with the bosses, especially human bosses where the only ones from 2 that were hard were odachifaggot and hayabusa
>>
>>734197580
And that lower enemy damage combined with harder to avoid enemy attack sequences, when balanced against the massively improved player offense through cummode, hyperarmour, yokai/spirit moves which recover Ki, max Ki reductions and so on leaves you with a game which does not encourage you to be careful and precise. Instead you are rewarded for going in and just wailing on stuff

Nioh 2 is better than 3 currently, 3 will be better once we have both DLC's, deflect was a great addition, ninja was a shit addition, so was watering out omnyo, hopefully they will course correct on some things, they gave us the option to transmog cross styles pretty quick

That might've been fine if they wanted to continue the nioh 1 design of having more claustrophobic and dangerous level design with pitfalls everywhere but as Nioh 2 went for a more open action oriented design that got rid of shit like weapons bouncing on the wall I think making enemy movesets more all encompassing was the better way to go than just making things even slower.
Going down the slow dungeon crawler Nioh timeline would've been cool to see but I personally vastly prefer the direction they went with in 2

1) Even accounting for your terrible terrible 2.2 second reaction speed your ninjutsu and onmyo buffs eventually become literally instant cast. Not double speed. Instant cast. No animation.
Protection, Carnage, Power Pill, Devigorate (-60% lol), weakness, and quick change were NEVER made to be as strong as they were in Nioh 1. Strongest sloth too.
>health/damage
General Player damage was never returned to as high as it was in Nioh 1
>>734197580
>At the time I argued that the answer to this should have been to make dodges and healing slower and more expensive so that the player is more vulnerable
Code Vein II is this. Your (medium and heavy) dodge is dogshit, every combo is a heal punish and every boss has a heal reaction that punishes a heal if used in neutral. Go check it out.
Nioh 1's damage was high because enemy movesets were limited.
Since you've used Tengu as an example, I'll show the other side of Tengu. The bad logic, forever spin kick Tengu, that will one shot a light armor player (with no buffs) with said spin kick.
If that didn't one shot, this would be a trash enemy.
The enemy still isn't very good, every Yoaki that isn't Ninja Yoki (dlc), Namahage (dlc), Magatsu Warrior (dlc), and Red Kappa (dlc) were vastly improved in the sequel. But, it would completely lose all presence if it didn't one shot you. Lowering defensive tools wouldn't fix this. By the time you get to this stage in a new playthrough you have every tool you need to one shot every single enemy in the game. That would have had to have been addressed too.
Nioh 2 lowered upper limits by making the baseline more playable. There's no blustered + Devigorate + weaken weapon combo to make an enemy hit you for double digits. They naturally do less per hit without these and due to their absence do more come endgame.

Faggots forgot how easy Nioh 1 was outside its DLCs which were so fucking unbalanced, and most people base Nioh 2's difficulty on the first couple bosses which were also insanely difficult before the game became a fucking cakewalk compared to Nioh 3.

I didn't say anything about limited enemy AI loop issues being a good thing so I'm not sure what you're arguing with there. If you fix the back attack looping by making it randomly back up and do something else then Tengu still struggles to threaten the player if it can't oneshot them, and that's because of how easy it is for the player to zoom out of there and heal. This isn't even a problem with Tengu, Tengu actually has a lot more forward movement and range than most Yokai in Nioh1 and that's probably why people used to complain about them, it's a problem with the player character because you're controlling Ninja Gaiden in a soulslike.
>your ninjutsu and onmyo buffs eventually become literally instant cast
The post is talking about not being able to Feral Burst your way out of a Piercing Rain when you commit to it on a Yoki who is about to oneshot you

Is there any reliable guard breaker for 1kat samurai on human enemies? Feels like my only method of attacking is waiting to deflect, then getting a few hits until the enemy blocks with their massive ki pool and then waiting for another deflect.

I always find it funny how people who preface Nioh posts with "I'm a Souls vet" seem to struggle so much with these games. I'm an absolute shitter at Souls games, yet Nioh has always felt much easier to me. I think a large part of why it seems easier on my end is due to the amount of options we have as a player, especially in 3. I like the fact that engaging with the mechanics of this series is rewarding in its own right.

Strictly speaking from somebody whose been in those threads since the literal N1 alpha
4chan's pretty fucking miserable to post on for actual videogame discussion now.
Elin threads had fake jannies reporting them
DMC threads got overtaken by faggots
When a person hated Wo Long on launch, they said it and left the thread. Now people make that shit their entire personality. 25-50% of every thread for any game is people pissing and whining. It's fucking exhausting.
I'm not making rooms or sharing tech with you retards.
Can't discuss FF anything because Barry is one trigger phrase away from losing his mind.
Everybody is sucking Requiems nuts off and those threads are still 60% shitposting.
The (second) /niohg/ discord I have never been more glad I joined.

>>734205613
But we had almost daily then bi weekly threads for Nioh and Jack's game even if half was shitposting. Thats what makes it fun - I even discussed Wo Long endgame with anons who were interested in the game. (Since you know it was dookie until DLC2 and TMJ, then it became crazy)

It's also the reason I don't make any Nioh 3 threads despite making literally over halfif not more, I lost countof all the ones for N2 and SoP.

I was very disappointed with it. I finished it but gave up partway through NG+. The story is shit even by Team Ninja standards, the game is way too easy and the open field is a repetitive slog. No amount of DLC is going to fix it either.

most people have finished the game by now. it's not very long, currently doesn't have a lot of content and is primarily a single player game. your post feels a little disingenuous, but i'll give you the benefit of the doubt
