i have an entire backlog of video games made before obama to go through and this just looks to sap my energy and time rather than give me an actual good experience. i looked up videos of this and it's just stupid video game garbage all over.

The Division may unironically be the most 'forced to exist' games out there. I just don't see the appeal, you fight humans that for some reason have 9 gorillion HP. Not even robots, just humans. It takes a ridiculous level of cognitive dissonance to play this game. I can't really take anything seriously storywise due to the bullet sponges, and the gunplay isn't unique or fun. It has weaker gunplay than Uncharted or Gears, both of which came out well before Division so there isn't really an excuse.
At least Destiny has a level of logic in that you're fighting Aliens so the bullet sponges don't take you out in disbelief.

authentic =/= realistic
When your game is based on planet earth without any magical elements, literally just our world post-apocalypse, then yes I expect it to function just like our own planet IRL and the humans to die as fast as a human IRL would

it doesn't but they're allegedly bringing Survival back this year and it will be in Division 2, not sure whether it'll be a separate paid DLC but the whole concept around that was in a snowstorm so winter kino is hopefully not too far off

What bullet sponge enemies are you talking about? Not sure about the Division 1 but I wouldn't say there are any bullet sponge enemies in the Division 2 apart from bosses who are supposed to be a challenge to beat and have a higher amount of armor that regular enemies.
At the start of the game when you have low level armor and weapons enemies are tougher but I wouldn't say they are bullet sponges apart from the heavies who literally are wearing armored suits and have a mini gun.
When you get to level 40 and you get access to gear sets and max stats weapon and armor there are only a few bosses that I would say are bullet sponges but those are difficult bosses who are supposed to be a challenging fight with a lot of armor.

I'm playing it right now, the first at least.
Is the game really just about shooting looters? I don't even check isaac anymore. If I see someone walking with a gun and they're not wearing any green, I just shoot at them on sight.

No, you misunderstood what I posted.
The problem is not 'muh realism' it's the cognitive dissonance and disconnect between the story and gameplay. It's about how the story handles the elephant in the room of "why are these normal humans tanking 5trillion bullets with no effect?".
Destiny answers this question in multiple ways. They are aliens, standard enemies arent that tanky (unless you're on grandmaster difficulty), enemies have armor and energy shields, there's space magic, etc. It fits in the setting and environment so that a player doesn't have to think twice. So when an event happens like some important character dying it canonically makes sense in the story. No extra mental gymnastics needs to be done by the player.
In the Division none of this is ever addressed at all. It started off about some virus spread by money, but that's it. The virus kills people, but there is no explanation for enemies just all being tanks and my character being the only guy playing by normal human rules. This could even be handwaved away like saying all the bad guys have some sort of exosuits, or they contracted some variant of the virus making them superhuman, or all the enemies are robots or humans in mech suits, something ANYTHING. Instead you're just expected to go, okay Jack and Joe down the street can tank 50 shotgun shots to the face due to... their ballistic vest??? Meanwhile a character can die in a cutscene or my player character can be 1-2 shot from the same enemy using a pistol. It just completely breaks any kind of immersion or player urgency.
Let's take a look at something like Borderlands 2. The game is a looter-shooter in the same genre/ballpark. Yes we're fighting humanoids, but the question of "bullet sponges" is immediately answered with no dialog. It's not trying to be realistic visually or story-wise, but it still answers the question in that you're leveling in a unfamiliar world with raiders that have lost their minds.

Anon, you need to level up and get better gest and armor. At the start of the game you are weak but as you level up you get better gear and become stronger.
Think of it like an rpg, you start at level 1 with shitty stats and enemies are more powerful with better gear. As you level up you become stronger and get better stats and gear.

Does it include the expansions or you have to buy those separately? If yes, I'll skip it.

I have no problem leveling up and I love looters, but the difference between Diablo and something like the Division is the reason behind the rise in power vs enemies.
In Diablo I have to level and gear up to fight the demons of hell as they grow stronger before they summon Diablo. You go from fighting weak hordes of zombies to fighting Diablo himself. The reason for power is there for both you and the enemy. It makes sense in-universe for the player.
In the Division that sense of urgency doesn't exist. Why are we leveling and getting better weapons or 'powering up'? What makes random merc in area 12 significantly more powerful and able to take more bulltes than random merc in area 1? Why does it make sense for X to die in a cutscene when enemies clearly walk off much worse? The game offers no explanation that makes sense in-universe. You're just expected to turn your bran off and run on the hamster-wheel.

Out of all the looter shooters ever this one is hands down one of the best. It's already absorbing Destiny 2 players because that game completely shit the bed and it has a better playing experience then BorderCrap 4 by far.
Hate all you want but this game has a great community and constant updates and events from the devs that keep it fun and engaging 7 years later. I'm glad all the haters stay away and let everyone else have a good time.

This is the typical Ubisoft game in this sense that the enemy arsenal is this: normal grunt, nimble rusher type with a gas mask because it's so cool apparently and then bigger dudes with special weapons.
Then this setup will repeat until the end which will never cone because this is a "looter" "shooter".
