Canonically Seven can just instakill most of the other characters in the game, save for Doorman. He killed the seven of some of the strongest ritualists in the entire world at the same time while strapped to an electric chair.

Maybe ritualists just aren't that strong to begin with? The game certainly doesn't rate them particularly highly.

Everyone above Ritualist is still a Ritualist. Oracles, for example, are Ritualists with greater skill. These were presumably the ritualists with the greatest skill, ranking them around Phantom. That would make Seven an Ascendant. The only Eternus character in the game is Doorman.

>damn bro, you made it all the way to eternus and you're still an initiate, lmao
Doorman is the one character who I can actually buy being significantly more powerful than everyone else because it is actually in the lore that he's basically larping as someone weaker than he normally is.

The ranks don't even work. I didn't play for 3 days and I went from emissary 1 to emissary 3, then I just exit the game. And now I checked again and I am emissary V, and I didn't play any games inbetween.

The ranks are based on what percentile you're in compared to everyone else, meaning someone dropping below you in the ranking would consequently result in your rank going up. In other words not playing games is still strictly speaking better than playing a load of games and losing them all.
Otherwise there would be a limit on how far someone's rank could sink. If there are can only so many initiates then someone doing so badly that they end up as an initiate would require one of the initiates to get a promotion.
