When the game was in development but before the models were made, they just had the player represented by collission data. Someone remarked it looked like a giant slab of tofu.
So me, a Canadian, found it extremely weird that this would be a bonus mode since i had never heard of Tofu before. It's one of the few "Japanese" things to really slip into the game. Most people probably didn't even know the game was made in Japan.

The time is 1998 and I'm in grade 8. I don't have internet access. I live in a tiny Ontarion city of 125,000. I am reading GamePro guide which details the RE2 secrets including the Tofu mini game and how to unlock Hunk. This is the first time I have heard of tofu. I am sure I could buy it in a store but my parents never did.
Given my background how would I know wtf Tofu is? I ate pizza and hamburgers.

making his appearance/easter egg so easily findable in Requiem was really strange. i didn't even know what the trigger is/if there was one at first. apparently it's to do with the Barry cabinet key thing? i feel like plenty of regular players will just stumble upon that. i feel like having a giant Japanese speaking block of tofu waltzing around outside the RPD is an easter egg you should make a smidge more convoluted to stumble upon

What the fuck are you talking about, you retarded faggot? Tofu was so well known back in the 90s, that it was referenced in sitcoms as a shitty diet food and as an awful vegetarian alternative to turkey on Thanksgiving.
