You just did, shut up. The problem with photorealism as an art style is that, when you take a real life person, and scan their likeness directly into an artificial environment, there is a lot riding on the lighting to make everything not look like shit. With a stylized art direction, flaws can be ironed out entirely. With photorealism however, the flaws tend to be brought directly to the forefront and noticed more easily. Nevermind the uncanny valley effect that comes from poorly animated or mo-capped models. Sometimes a facial scan is done of a supermodel, and then a voice actor will have their face mo-capped to animated the supermodel's face. This can look very unnatural. Even more unnatural if it's not animated by human movements at all, and instead by a computer program. Craziest of all is that sometimes there is three separate people involved with a single character. One as the model for the likeness, one as the voice, and another to animated the movements.
Another problem is oversaturation. With stylized art, there is variation. With photorealism, there is photorealism. Sure there are certain visual flair that certain studios bring, but at the peak of photorealism there is not much deviation. We can hate the modern art world all day for being mostly trash (it is) but it still thrashed the business of artists that drew a realistic style. There was no market for realistic at a certain point. Even before photography became prevalent. Avant garde schlock dominated. Beyond all of this, if we are being real, then we should acknowledge that a photorealistic direction is much easier to develop around than to get everyone to work behind a single chosen stylized art direction. Just the way it is. So now photorealistic feels cheap. Because it is.

Not sure where to put this, but since I saw the cutscene I've found it weird Lady of all people shit talks V for leaving early on.

I guess since Dante has empathy for humans from his lifestyle and Trish has experience taking on demons who could turn a human into a fine mist with ease they both wouldn't fault someone for opting out of being shredded, but that still doesn't explain why it had to be Lady or in the script at all. It's not like it's her first day, she knows what would happen to him considering the carnage at Fortuna, and how many clients even go into the belly of the beast with Dante anyway?

I know it's a nitpick but that one line felt like a more potent case of mischaracterization than any redesign or anything, because anyone new to DMC seeing her say that would immediately take her for a callous bitch. Capcom, edit that shit out if you re-release V.
