Compared to other two Mihoyo games, ZZZ seriously lacks a vision. Bunch of game mechanics keep being adjusted and changed with very little prior warning or fanfare (how many times have they changed Hollow Zero now?) and they've had problem of character focus for a while now.
What do I mean with character focus? They basically spent a patch focusing on one or two characters, and then after that ditched them, with them not really having part in main story anymore. So it was pretty hard to get invested in characters, or for players to want them for things other than their gameplay kits. Compare that to HSR and Genshin which usually spend several patches building up characters, and still have them be relevant after they are released. Nod-Krai did this expertly.
But to answer why ZZZ did kinda poorly despite finally releasing one of the most hyped factions in the game (the idol dorks), they had a spending/top-up event in last patch, and it was still ongoing when the idols were announced. So if somebody was set on spending, it was the most sensible option to do it back in late Janurary, for the extra bonuses.

I don't think there's any gacha that's purely roguelike focused, though there's few with roguelike side modes, like Honkai Star Rail and Brown Dust 2.
Both of those are turn based, with HSR being JRPG with action bar like FF10, and BD2 is tactical RPG. Personally I liked HSR's modes better, since there's no gating on how much you can do each day, and there's decent amount of lore in the side modes.
...Still, don't except anything insanely in depth from either.

They are f2p games that keep constantly getting new content. What's so bad about it? It's the evolution of the MMO genre (better gameplay than them as well). I spend less on them than the average WoW/XIV fag does with the subscriptions and all other in-game shit. It's a good deal for what it is. And it's not like full-priced games aren't full of live-service stuff.

Out of those three I've only played ZZZ somewhat since their setting doesn't interest me and characters are too basic anime shit. At least with ZZZ I got some mixup with things like Billy or the thirens. I gotta say though,
