Why are these people so out of touch with reality?
Is this toxic positivity too?

Why did 100k people play it on the first day but only 5k on the second or whatever, then?

Insane.

because its sweaty, cant you read?
>>
>>734131837
the reason highguard flopped was because it was generic and didn't have new and interesting ideas to capitalize on. it's that simple
I don't know how so many developers can be so utterly wrong about why their game failed

>>734131837
Jews and their basedgolem are bad at making video games.

>hundreds of thousands of people are telling us exactly why they didn't play our game

Gee, thanks.

extensive playtesting and listening to player feedback would have helped here. I'm glad to help

The biggest problem was marketing.
The second biggest problem was requiring secureboot and TPM

It's a true return for form. It's lightning in a bottle.

>>734132176
How do you market a lame, and gay hero shooter with a mining/crafting mechanic so that the 100k people who tried it somehow think these black lesbians are tons of fun, and continue playing?
>>
>>734131837
Its not deep. TLDR;
It failed due to bizaree design choices that made the game boring to play. Copy what works instead of copying them and removing parts. Why the fuck they launched with 3v3 in a game this size with a roster that small with no interest in developing the setting and stakes is astronomically bad design

It wasnt sweaty, it was fucking boring. They launched with 3 v 3 on massive open maps where you spend most of the time just moving between areas to do gameplay, it was not about being the best shooter or tactician, it was if youre teams was all in one place or not, the problem there is theres only 3 per team so if even one was off doing chores then the 2 remaining would get clowned, and then the other guy that is now on his own, is now on his own to face the other team till everyone else catches up. This was a horrifically bad gameplay decision, they made it 5v5 but the damage was done and the maps are still too big for what the game is doing, this is a 16 v 16 game, its like if fucking battlefield had the same maps but it was only 5 players per team. Even if it launched with 5v5, the roster is too small and boring, there is no variety, a game with hero characters needs a full fighting game roster, not every slot filled where there are always clones on both teams due to lack of options. Concord did the same shit, it also had maps that were too big for how slow the characters are. Funny how that works. Also the whole setting is just lame, one day an island appeared and mercenaries fight over the mguffin resource, there is nothing to sink your teeth into as a setting, the characters are not interesting and the aesthetic is so bland I genuinely wonder if it was AI. It looks like the fake games you would see in the background of some movie.

Big money does not mean big ideas.
>>
The game looks so fucking boring and ugly it hurts. It looks like a videogame I'd see being played in a tv show/movie. I've seen the characters reposted like 10 times and remember only the token whitehaired asian dude. even Concord had designs so bad they were memorable.
>>
>>734131995
i mean he is essentially saying the game is bad just not for the right reasons
>>
>>734131972
It was simply too much of a blast. They couldn't handle the return to form of this much lightning in a bottle.
>>
>>734131837
He's half right in the sense that a 3v3 game is going to be sweaty because of how little people there are in a match. This game had a sizable amount of people playing it at launch and no one stuck. There are more esoteric games with bullshit to learn, like assfaggots, that people still play and return to. The important other half of this game is that it sucks ass. There was nothing in this game that would make people stick to it and keep playing it, there was more wrong this game than just being too sweaty.. If people like a game they'll play it regardless of how sweaty it is or how annoying the learning curve is. People still play old fighting games, or team fortress, or age of empires, etc.
>>
>my game is good
>the players were not playing it right
>please hire me
>>
>>734131837
aren't hero shooters supposed to be competitive? and don't competitive games work best in fast matches?
the people who thought it was a good idea to have multiple phases, most of which are boring, just wanted to mix a bunch of shit without really understanding what they were doing
>>
That haircut killed it. That's literally all there is to it.
>>
>>734131972
people knew it's gonna be shit but they wanted to see firsthand just how shit it is, and also have a "i was there" participation badge so they can brag that they were a part of highguard's downfall

They really should have used Scarlet as a marquee girl and made either of her alternative skins into her main look.
It would not have been a massive salvage work, but would have worked better than the broccoli haired John Highguard as game's mascot.
>>
>>734131837
tbf making a game for the 5% of gamers who are sweaty hardcore tournament wannabes sounds like a really bad idea. Making a game for Timmy and his grandmother sounds far better.
>>
>>734131837
Wait
Isn't this the game where you never encounter other players and instead spend most of the match mining for ore? That's like peak casual, gathering resources/killing minions is a mechanic to give the super casuals who have panic attacks if another player shoots them something to do.
>>
>>734131837
Yes. The delusion is strong with these idiots. Anything to avoid accountability and admitting that their game isn't appealing at all. I wrote it off from the first trailer because I don't like shooters that play like Overwatch. Period. Beyond that, the secureboot and TPM 2.0 shit is an automatic disqualifier for any PC game for most people, including me.
>>
>>734131837
It's because they are five billion GaaS ganes in tbe market and these retards sinehow think people have the time if day to do dailies and battkepasses for 6 diffrent games.

/v/ has this lame meme where they will post player numbers of a single player game months after rekease and gi "huur hurr game dead!?!" but the fact a single player game is something most people play once or twice then move on is their strength. You play a gane-then buy other game. That's it, so fucking simple.

GaaS games on the other hand have to be whole lifestyles where people got to invest hundreds of hours to make profit. And there is literally no longer enough time in the day and people in the world anymore. Everyone has "their game" now. Unless the game comes with the a first-day update that changes the laws of physics and extends the time of day to 48 hour cycles the door is shut.

Why are you using retard lingo?

Why is it so hard to admit you made a shitty product that nobody wanted because it wasn’t significantly better than the current crop of games, and that the mystery meat broccolihead front and center turned people away?

Developers need to understand the world changed, Either people are in party chats talking to their friends or are anti social and don't want to play a game that heavily relies on communication. Return us to 12 vs 12 TDM challenge COD

Not him but I personally hate the word toxic but what it is describing is a real thing. Go to any Marathon community if you want to see this in real time

>>734132176
The fuck are you talking about? Marketing wasn't the problem at all, they got hundreds of thousands of players downloading and trying the game.
>>
>>734138136
This. Is there a game right now where I can jump into huge team vs team games where the only communication is getting called a nigger in text chat because killed someone with a sniper rifle?

Bricky had a video on highguard with some insider info from the devs. Basically every retarded decision they made was to make it more "fair". People don't play games for how fair they are, they play for fun. We can already achieve peak fair fps - symmetrical map with everyone having the same weapons, health, etc. Nobody plays that because it's fucking boring
>>
Besides the game being shit, everyone on /v/ said that the game is only for retarded tryhards and predicted it wouldn't hold the average player's attention
Why can consumers easily see something that devs don't notice for 8 years of development?
>>
>>734131837
They deserve their downfall; if Wildlight hadn't paraded around as a legitimate indie grassroots studio, perhaps the backlash wouldn't have been so harsh. They may have been "indie" on the outside, but inside they were structured like any other AAA studio. I don't understand how you break free from the shackles of AAA, only to produce one of the most boring, uninspired, and creatively bankrupt games possible. Gamers can sniff this out, and you know what they say: gamers are always right in matters of taste.

Try to streamline Rust PVP could have been neat as a casual game where you assemble big forts and have big sieges, but esports sloppa gets tiresome really quickly.

>Is this toxic positivity too?
more like insanity.
the marketing was shit, I had no idea what the game was about after watching the trailer, I thought it was another battle royal like apex before someone told me it was a hero shooter.
the poster character looks like absolute dogshit so it doesn't spark any interest, not to mention that the actual gameplay is just a gimmicky spin of the genre in order to stand out from other hero shooters, I can't imagine any sane person thinking this will perform well.

There comes a point where you are all in and can't go back. Very few companies are like Capcom where they have no issues rebooting a game that is 80% complete
