Its fucked up that the doctors and nurses in the hospital were ok with doing weird experiments on kids. This is why Leon let that nurse die. He was passive aggressive towards her as soon as he met her as he knew she was guilty and needed to die.

This is what the ending should have mentioned and it would have been a nice observation/callback that gives us hope for Emily. Just have Leon say
"Grace, there's something I wanted to tell you about Emily. You remember when I first met you in the care center, the way that mutated monster healed from gunshot wounds? If it had the same mutation as Emily, it could mean that Emily is still alive, and we can save her with Elpis"
instead it just sounds stupid like he's saying "I only mag dumped her in the non-lethal parts"
