you can only pump out more car games every other couple years for so long until you hit the sports game issue pretty hard
the problem with this is that carfags are more autistic and particular than the inbred niggers that buy every year's madden/fifa/nba/etc so unless there's somehow massive improvements between entries they're going to get soured if you release too often or nickel and dime too much
the horizon stuff where you traveled around a decently big open map to different tracks and varied races was a decent way to add some variety into the style but that only lasted so long until it also became formulaic

there's just too many of these realistic car sims competing with one another and they've cannibalized each other to the point where the differences between them are starting to get semantic
a proper new burnout or need for speed spiritual successor would probably shit all over the current set of racing sims despite being arcadey just because they're doing more than just being a driving game
