/v/'s answer:
>games today are too woke! we must find a final solution to the woke game question.
the real answer:
>corporations are in the midst of transitioning from games being relatively cheap and available to all potential players to a model where only the extremely wealthy will be able to afford the gaming rigs required to play the games that are designed with an affluent audience in mind
They're moving from a wide base such that anyone can afford a game, counting scale to lead to high overall profits to an ivory tower model that few can afford but those that can afford it pay astronomical amounts of money to do so. Essentially, instead of a business model trying to sell 100 people a $1 game, gaming companies will try to sell a $100 game to one person instead. Save your old systems my friends, RAM prices are merely the warning bell of what is to come.

People keep saying it's because games are shit now, but it's actually the opposite. The most shit games, GaaS/Gachas/etc. are what make up a majority of spending now. People don't buy new games, because they'd rather buy fortnite bucks or whatever.

Fortnite is better than most modern games since the skins are based directly on what people ask for in survey. Fortnite is still shit with awful support, but it is better than most modern games and will last longer than a year

No videogame is worth $80+tip. It's really that simple. The videogame market is absolutely FLOODED with $5-20 games, and THOUSANDS of FREE retro games that are all BETTER than the new $80 ones. Why would ANYONE buy new games? Just play the old ones for a year and the $80 ones will be $40 or less, which is what they are actually worth.

90% of new AAA games aren't anywhere near worth the $70+ asking price, most weren't even worth $60 years before the increase. The booming popularity of cheap AA and indie games the last few years attests that tons of people will still buy new things if they're good and priced reasonably. Nobody wants to overpay for a game that they're only being charged a premium for because the studio/publisher behind it is bloated to all hell with hundreds of worthless employees on payroll.

Normies were never actually into video games. It was a just a several different individual fads that just so happened to involve video games. PS3 was normies first DVD player, Halo, sports games, Call of Duty, GTA, Wii, Switch, pokemon, and some others. Wait aren't these all just video games? No! Each of these was a self contained niche that involved a specific franchise, technology or cultural moment that managed to briefly capture a portion of the normie market. And now normies are over pretty much all of them. Nothing has come along that has managed to speak to normies anymore. So the industry, that is now designed to cater to the normie market, is dead. Those 4% of gamers are THE gamers, always have been, always will be. But everyone else is over it.

But that's not true. I love buying retro games. I've amassed quite a nice physical collection too. I just don't want to buy bad modern games that I'm not the target audience for anyway.

And that's something else. My retro consoles aren't connected to the internet so my total game time isn't being tracked. I played Brave Fencer Musashi for 6 hours today. I'm always playing games but they wouldn't know that.

They have always done that. Nothing has changed in the last 15 years of this mobile gaming bullshit. The only difference is Men who are getting the program and just locking in. There is no point in wasting energy in reacting. Steam can see the real stats, gaming is fine.
