They still need to figure out how to design interesting complex dungeons in an open world setting. I'd also hope that the next main instalment uses a new (or vastly upgraded) engine this time around. I do not want BotW 3, even tho I did enjoy BotW itself a lot (TotK not so much)

It would be challenging to do, but I really think they could market a dense, dungeon focused Zelda that's beatable in 10-20 hours by your average player with a strong focused story/experience.
The players that got open world fatigue from BotW/ToTK would probably support a game that's meant to be beaten in few sessions rather than an endless exploration.
I say this coming off of Resident Evil, which people understand to be short but high quality games with a lot of replayability in them.

Literally just study Skyward Sword, and ask themselves how to give more player choice and freedom while retaining the puzzle designed overworld.

I'm curious about what they will manage to do with the new software, what I don't know is why are they taking so long to announce the next game. Are they scared that they will take too long like they did with BOTW and don't want to reveal anything to the public for now?.
If they want to expand on the open world game I would like some interaction with water and liquids, and a main new use for bottles, it would be quite interesting if you caught bugs and use them later, and also make the critters don't disappear after 5 seconds of being on screen.
