BotW; it has better design and the core abilities are more fun (stasis especially). TotK suffers from too much bloat, including multiple currencies and a construction mechanic that was not integrated very well into the game. Early-game guardian encounters in BotW are more engaging than anything in TotK. Divine beasts are also, somehow, better than TotK's temples. The temples look cooler, but play like complete ass.

I’ve not played either, don’t own a Switch or Switch 2 and I hate them both

BotW by far, tiktok completely fucks the exploration by having those towers launching you into fucking space and you can just glide down skipping everything, or worse just using a fucking plane, there's nothing interesting about traversing from point A to point B, when i got to the base of death mountain and skipped the entire climb because there's a tower there that can launch you directly to Goron City
They also fucked one of the positives about weapon durability in an attempt to fix it, a pretty common thing that happens in BotW is your weapon exploding right in front of an enemy's face, sending them flying and then you quickly get his weapon on the ground to continue the assault, but in tiktok raw weapons are fucking useless and you have to fuse them with another item to increase its attack, doing so is pretty clunky however as it requires the item to be on the floor, you can't even do it from the fucking menu so stealing an enemy's weapon in the heat of the moment isn't the same anymore
Also most of the puzzles are related to the gary mod construction shit, it's fun for the first few hours but gets boring fast
Tears might have more content than BotW but if i ever feel like revisiting that version of Hyrule, which is the same recycled map across both games, then i'll go for BotW any day

BotW. TotK is really cool mechanically but it feels way more unfocused than what was an already pretty unfocused game. BotW has a lot of meandering but everything you do feeds back into the core goal of beating Ganon in some way or another. TotK doesn't really have that through line between all its different mechanics and is a lot more content just doing fun shit for the sake of it.

botw is pretty amazing with lots of obvious flaws. totk is botw but everything is slightly worse, including all the flaws which are somehow even worse too
I'd say only play totk if once you feel finished with botw you feel like playing way more botw, because that's basically just what it is. Just lower quality botw content

If Tears had Wild's opening hours, it would be the perfect game. Tears is better overall, though.

>stuff in them
(You) make it sound like the world needs to be a themepark. I explored all the caves and islands and found "stuff" on them 99% of the time. To say you didn't would be a straight up lie that conflicts with reality.

I hate that in TotK the solution to 99% of the puzzles is just building something with the virtual legos

Tears of the Kingdom has a better main quest and setpieces, and the fusing makes combat slightly less boring.
That said, BotW is a more cohesive experience and has superior atmosphere and plot.

Every Zelda has different plot. Just because it doesn't have 50 twists and they share parallel narratives doesn't mean there is no story. BotW Link's backround is very different from, say, OoT Link or WW Link.
You just don't care about Zelda. Which makes me wonder why you are even in this thread.

All in all, Zelda has competent storytelling.
Even BotW has a cohesive theme of 'recovering what was lost' since the setting is one where shit already hit the fan. Link is quite literally remembering who he was and the people around him as he moves on to bring new hope to a desolate kingdom where live moved on. Even the photos play a lot into the strenghts of the game, telling you to find interesting locations and traverse the map, i.e. exploration.
What does TotK have? the same concept but without the interesting hook that the mystery, and the same cutscene 4 fucking times.
And i'm not even a WWFag that cries about muhn wind scene since i consdier that the worst 3d zelda game.

They ARE different things. One is the world and the context of the story, the other is the things that actually happen. A good story combines both good events and a lore that is relevant to said events.
