Happy first day of filming /v/! Some stuff from a guy on the inside since the trades apparently didn't run the story today.
>Jim Carrey is back as Dr. Eggman Neo (an alternate future descendent of Eggman and a renamed Eggman Nega for obvious reasons)
>Metal Sonic will also be voiced by Ben Schwartz and be a serious dramatic role
>Keanu Reeves returns as Shadow albeit an Act 3 supporting role.

A short synopsis of the movie (not word for word what the trades will run but my own interpretation of it)
>Team Sonic are getting ready to welcome Tom and Maddie's first baby when they're threatened by the mysterious Metal Sonic legion sent back by Dr. Eggman Neo to ensure his future is secure. When Amy Rose follows Metal Sonic from the future, she'll have to team up with Team Sonic to ensure that only a good future is ahead!

Some other tidbits
>Shadow works for Gun
>They're basing the movie heavily off of that cut artwork from Sonic 3
>The film is expected to leave off on a cliff hanger which will lead into the still untitled Sonic Universe movie.
>This will be the last "numbered sonic movie" as any movie going forward will be billed as an ensemble movie.

None of that makes any fucking sense. Why would "Eggman Neo" need to secure a future he already exists in? What's endangering it? If anything, sending Metal Sonic back with Amy following is the only thing that actually endangers his own existence.
Also why would they bring Carrey back only to have him play an Eggman descendant? They'd just have him be the same Eggman he's already been depicting for the three movies now, like what was intended in the original cliffhanger ending.
