pokemon remains the least cringe of the monster battler cartoons and games.

That's why I stopped playing these shitty kids games. Life literally got instantly better the moment I stopped playing pokemon and interacting with the community.

I had Pokémon fatigue by Gold/Silver. I played hundreds of hours of Blue, but I thought G/S was the same game.

Ruby/Sapphire just didn't feel right to me.

I don't have Pokémon fatigue because I saw the writing on the wall and bailed almost a decade ago. Gens 1-5 are good, 6-7 isn't good but I'm willing to recognize it as still being Pokémon, but Dexit was the tipping point where it became clear this shit was never getting better and I haven't even pirated a Pokémon game released since. If I get the itch I play a ROMhack.

I left after being bored by Gen 3. It was the beginning of the end. While Gen 2 is deeply flawed I liked the overall esthetics. Unfortunately, Game Freak wanted to prove just how bad they are at making video games.

Needing multiple games (and special IRL events) to complete the dex was scummy bullshit that always existed in the series. Forget oblivion horse armour, gamefreak was doing this bullshit back in the 90s.
If the series had integrity it wouldn't be red and blue it would just be pokemon then gen 2 would be pokemon 2 etc.

I've played almost every gen but the only one I liked was red when I was 8 years old. Sun and Moon had the best girls though.
