Honestly I don't think any of the act 3 bosses are hard. In the first game you could get hard countered by one of them and you had to think a bit but these ones you can just unga through. I have more issues getting through mr. Krabs most of the time.

Check out this beautiful lightning deck I got on a break from Regent. Defect is super fun, but Regent is just a bit cooler, and I don't like having to grind ascension levels on new characters after I already beat A9/A10.

A9 is the biggest jump in difficulty and basically acts as a wall. Even in A10, the hardest part is still getting to the act 3 bosses.
If you can over come A9, then A10 is very doable. But that isnt to say double bosses is easy though.

So I've been playing this game for couple days now, never touched the first one but having lots offunstill in spite of losing all the fucking time. I just keep playing on random selection and slowly go up the ascensions trying to learn all the characters and the disparity between them is starting to grow pretty quick. I'm at A6 on Necro/Defect A5 on Silent A3 on Regent and completely and utterly hardstuck A2 on Ironclad. I feel like I have no clue what I'm doing with the last two most of the time. Silent/Defect/Necro sort of seem to build themselves, tons of options for each with most of them working great. Most success on Regent was with the forge setups, I tried building around making/spending stars as well but I'm probably not doing it right, it never really goes anywhere. And wtf do I do with Ironclad, please help. The two wins I had were with Hellraiser which just made it into autobattler deck basically once it got going and then with the cards for block not disappearing across turns and getting double block which ended up just facetanking everything. All other attempts I either die somewhere mid-run or scrape to the last boss and get destroyed. Not really sure what should I be going for, I tried building around vulnerable and exhaust as that seems what devs wanted me to do but it was shit and seeing people have consistent winrates with Ironclad makes me think its just skill issue and there actually are some solid setups that I'm missing. But enough blogging tbqh, game is very good and even chain-losing is pretty enjoyable and it makes the time pass quickly. Fuck Ironclad though.

Stars win games. Stardust, Radiate, Glow.
Minions are a supplement. trim your deck, but it's not a full archetype without Arsenal.
Forge is a last resort, Bulkwark is the only consistent Forge card. The powers getting buffed does help.

Ironclad emo build is the only consistent build in StS2.
Exhaust build is lacking the cards that do things when exhausted, and the fact Howl puts itself back into your deck is an insult, since you can't even exhaust your way down to five block cards and just keep blocking every turn.
Vulnerable synergy can be surprisingly good and then you get experiment as your act 3 boss and might as well kill yourself.
Demon Form and Barricade are both too slow in the faster format so a lot of the middle of the road builds feel like shit.

True grip is a great card because exhausting cards to great, to thin down decks. Doubly great for ironclad because he has some exhaust synergy. Kinda needs to be upgraded.
Upgrade when you can, heal when you need to. Plan ahead. If you are fighting a boss or elite soon, heal up. If you have some easy hallways before your next camp, and you are above 50% hp, you can greed for an upgrade.

True grit is amazing upgraded in almost any ironclad deck as it allows you to pare down your deck, removing terrible cards so you don't redraw them. Healing at campfires is the worse but safer option, upgrades permanently make your deck stronger.

This deck was fucking funny man. Just exhaust and draw infinite cards and play a bunch of 0 cost souped up strikes and block and win and blap and kill and I legitimately survived because I took the giant mushroom event and happened to get the Phantograph. I would've won without the phantograph but NOT the extra HP. Duplicating my deck was clutch, having 2x of every good power carried the act 3 bosses.
Also howl from beyond is not as bad as I thought.

Emo build grinds you down so damn quickly though. Vulnerable sucks because they removed shockwave so your only aoe vuln is... lmao Thunderclap. Vuln is so incredibly deficient as an archetype for aoe that you have to staple a whole nother archetype onto it to actually win the run, at which point I'd rather just chase strength instead and take maybe one extra vuln card instead.

Just switched to the beta branch and would have been a perfect first run if I managed to get a hellraiser and of course 3rd form with the immediate intangible and 12x3 damage I draw no wishes, no master of strats, no pommel strikes and none of my block cards with 35 HP left.
First time trying the new doorman caught me off guard I probably could have avoided more damage there.

I can confidently say that card creation is way stronger on Regent rn compared to stars. There's literally no need for accumulation of stars or even energy at times since Minion cards are all 0-cost now. Blocking is extremely free and seamless, and you don't even need to rely on the star cards for Weak ane Vulnerable.
I've had good card creation runs at launch but at lower ascensions, it feels good to see more people being introduced to this archetype now. Stars is so grossly overrated, and Large Capsule feels pretty good at least on Clad and Regent imo.

Yep, didn't even have the rare scaling stuff like Regalite and Arsenal. You can get plenty of good stuff in the common and rare pools. Guards is very premium but it's not a must-have either, and Crash Landing speeds up hallways mostly or used for a big Block turn on bosses if necessary. It's both energy and stars efficient, and works well with good Colourless cards you often find in shops and events.

I can't speak for beta (waiting until I beat a10 with every character first), but I made it to a10 with clad only losing two runs, so I was surprised to see you guys saying he's ass on main branch.
For reference, I forced Hellraiser 9/10 times. Even if you don't get it, a thin deck with some premium block cards and pommel strike+(s) is a good base.

This is the strongest Ironclad multiplayer deck I ever had.

That's a complicated question, there's youtube analysis videos that can help you with what elites you might face in what level and how your deck should look like for facing them.
As a general rule if you're struggling with corridor fights, your deck probably isn't ready for elites.

Since you don't know what events you get, this is also Impossible to answer, just try to get a couple and think of what helps you the most, don't rely on them.

Got bing bong pretty early and then no new pee pee gave me glam so the run became crazy. I almost killed doormaker on a single turn during his no-draw phase with a bloodletting+cascade combo where both had replay. Did like 400 damage to him. Cascade is definitely a great card for that phase.

That last shop with orrery is where the run really went crazy. I wasn't sure I would survive until then. I think phial holster will get nerfed at least on higher ascensions where the interaction with the foul potion event is just too good

One thing that made me win more as him is prioritizing block, but not ANY block.
I usually shop a lot on him to find as many Colorless Block (Finesse/Equilibrium are so good on him) and block relics as possible.
A lot of his common blocks are bait and just clog your deck.
Also DO NOT take elites if you don't have pots to deal with most of them. Unless you have a good AoE card, you're just asking to get buttfucked by the eels on Act 1.
Your best way to block is thru powers like Parry and Child of the stars.
Blade feels better now, but Stars is still stronger desu.

Discovery also fixes energy issues. Typically, you can already block a ton, so just need enough damage to kill fast before you run out of fuel to transform. Simply having 1-2 copies of Manifest Authority+ already works pretty well.

Yes and no.
The top players can still get amazingly consistent winrates so you do know that they're doing something much better than you are. It seems like the rest of us can only hope to highroll.
I think that A7 is the biggest culprit since rare cards often pivot your deck one way or another. Like, you could have a powerful Status deck on Defect. You have Smokestack, you have Gunk up, compact, all your good shit.
Trash to treasure or Flak Cannon would be the cherry on top, but you just don't find it.
Tracking, Shadow Step, and Knife Trap can easily help you scale your damage on Silent. What else can you do? Get a billion Accuracies?
Even by fighthing elites, you're unlikely to find anything worthwhile, and they're supposed to BE the way to help you scale easier with gold, relics and rares.
A9 I hope gets reworked into challenging movesets like the original A17-19 from the original game. The damage increase in the enemies is very noticeable, and it essentially turns the entire game into fucking detroit.

You fight one boss, then you fight the next boss right after. No rewards or heals or anything. Once you get to Act 3 you’ll see which two bosses and what order you’ll fight them.
I do believe Pantograph should heal you for both fightsbut I’m not 100% sure since I haven’t tested it. It does heal you for both in StS1 though, as my referenceso keep an eye out for that. Other than that, yeah good luck. Just gotta spire like you’ve never spired before

Finally a cool Necro Mastery run. Big damage build on Necro is still the best way to deal damage though but Necro Mastery and Reanimate help stabilize until I can unleash Eradicate without compromising on DPS every turn. And Necro Mastery is godly in hallways, feels a bit like Fan of Knives in that respect.

You're not going to like this but a vanilla run is kinda like the tutorial. After you complete a run and reach the architect you unlock a level of ascension each time until you hit A10. Each level slaps you with an annoying new modifier to make your life harder on that run until A10 where you fight two bosses in a row.
Its not particularly easy and I feel strongly that not every run is possible with the RNG but it certainly teaches you to use resources efficiently. Ive gotten raped on the second final boss a lot of times and it sucks.
You can "cheat" ascension levels because for some reason you can unlock them while doing custom runs so you just turn on deck draft, flight, big game hunter etc and breeze through the levels. I have done this for Regent after reaching A10 with everyone else because i really dont feel like doing A7-8-9 yet again before going for 10.

I'm starting with the A9/A10 runs for Clad and Silent on the main branch.
The main issue with STS2 is the lack of actual scaling for your characters and the HP+scaling blot for enemies (say for example Act 3 hallways go from 32/36 scrolls to 170 Frog/Cultist with permanent block or str gain, mecha knight has 300 HP)
Only very very few cards and relics enable you scale but even then you might lose the scaling race due to bad draw order.
At A10 each floor it's an attrition battle to find the cards you need to beat the act boss

Stars are fundamentally turtle-based. In Act 1 you usually spend them when you get them to play cards better than strike or defend but once you have some uncommon and rare cards then stars quickly become the "resource of last resort" because the powerlevel scales like crazy with star cost.
Every card that costs 3+ stars is really good (except Resonance), and the ones that cost 5+ are fight-ending/fight-warping.
Playing a single high starcost card is always better than playing several low starcost cards - Royal Gamble isn't a gamble it's an instant win for doing what stars inherently reward you for doing
Throw in Sealed Throne/Touch of Orobas/Electric Shrymp and you have a deck that starts at the finish line.

To be fair you don't have that many block cards (9) for a 41 card deck. Two of them exhaust even.
Or better said, you have 8 powers if I'm counting right, so on your first deck cycle while you set up you're going to have a harder time finding block. After you set up you should find your block more reliably which is why the queen fight was so smooth for you, as she didn't interrupt your cycling all that much besides the binding. And the first 2 turns the lamp minion is a fucking wimp that does nothing, and you have boot sequence and boat relic #2 to solve them.
Goatseman actively stops your drawing, makes your boot sequence useless with first turn invulnerability, the fight is a fucking mess. The energy reduction turn is cancer, even if I've kicked his ass a dozen times I hate the fight. I hope they give him a non aids moveset at some point.

The secret is as follows. Pick a path that satisfies as many of these as possible
>Has 3 easy pool fights (and maybe 1 hard fight) mixed with some events before the first fire and/or shop
>Path has 2~4 elites later down the line, preferably after the chest with multiple fires in between (never with no fires, that's suicidal), but it's okay if there's (fire elite chest fire elite) or (shop elite chest fire elite) or something like that

Then you play the act, look at your first 3-4 card rewards, your potion, go to the shop, look at yourself and ask: am I strong enough to beat the upcoming elites. If yes, commit. If no, simply take an alternate path to upgrade your cards and get more rewards and try to do at least one or two just before the boss.
Picking strong attacks and then high blocks instead of gay synergies lets you do elites. Gay synergies are a late payoff and you can pick them, but then you can't do elites because they require other parts and upgrades before they increase your output.

Yeah I was really going glass cannon and relying on relics and the block carry over to just overwhelm all obstacles (along with an early tent sustaining me) which really works until doorman. If Id lost with this sort of luck I would have been really pissed but it was still hair-raising being on the verge of death and just squeaking out the win.
I havent had Doorman and Experiment that I can remember but that would be such AIDs I dread the day. At least Queen still reliably folds to early wheels.

I used to hate gardners but I think they're the easiest underdocks elite now because if you damagemaxx you can rape them relatively painlessly.
But the terror eel and the coral are faggots that require constant blocking, and both attack you for 20+ frequently. And you usually try to not pick that many block cards early on (it depends on the act boss of course) but it's easier to slot in big attacks than big blocks and move. These threats demand big blocks and then draw order can make a fucking hole in your chest.
Only ironclad can easily blap the terror eel in three turns without taking "too much damage" (offset with burning blood) but he gets fucking chomped by the sunken colony giganigger and his 15 damage per turn limit. I think it's my most hated underdocks elite right now.

Can anyone confirm if killing the minion changes Queens behavior because I swear you kill the minion early and then Queen starts doing even more damage than minion would while still debuffing you out the asshole.

Her first and second turns are always fixed regardless of the minion's state. First turn is the Binding debuff, second turn is the 99 vuln/weak/frail
While the minion is alive, she'll do the "minion gains 1 strength, she gains 20 block" action every single turn after the debuff routine.
When the minion dies, she goes in a loop of "gain 2 strength > 5 hit attack > big attack > repeat" until death.
