This ringing any bells from my fellow BB lorefags here? It should, after all, it sure sounds a whole hell of a lot like the boundary and the effects it has on people be it BB's homeworld, Xblaze's world, Es specifically can access to that, Naoto and Hinata as well but that's a bit wordy for what I'm getting at here, Naoto as far as I know has only traversed the boundary through Raquel's power rather than on his own and given what he is, it's only natural he'd get through it unscathed, meanwhile Rachel doing the same to Ragna required Noel to mke sure he came back without harm, so W for Raquel I suppose in terms of sorcery on that scale.

for oki and keeping the opponent in throw range. you wouldn't really want to extend if you weren't near the corner. a lot of strive's design is resetting neutral as much as possible and preventing any situations where you can easily loop pressure. it's why a lot of combo starters in the older games are combo enders in strive and send you so far away and moves that used to hard knockdown only softdown, why the wall breaks etc. so it's easier to understand why og heat knuckles was omitted now with this context.

GGs. With Rachel you have to play around her projectiles because if Rachel has wind meter she can make her projectiles just fly at you. She is weakest when she has no wind. Instant blocking is important as well to create gaps in her pressure. With Litchi you also have to play around her staff and keep in mind that it can hit you on its way back.

AFAIK Strive is faster paced than SF6; it's also more character driven. Wallbreak won't be that big of a deal for you, plus you also get some choice on what happens with it.

Highly variable based on specific matchups due to being more character focused but yeah we've got that.

Other than Millia wall-to-wall, combos are pretty short; hard to know exactly what you consider long but for example I think the combos in 2XKO are way, way too long.

There's been a lot of standardization, more common tools, and gatling (normals that cancel into other normals) routes from previous versions of the game which makes it easier to pick up most characters or understand a lot of moment to moment interactions, but it's still a character focused fighting game with like 32 characters that you'd have to know what they do.
>comeback mechanics
Other than getting some meter and burst for getting hit I don't think there's much in the way of comeback mechanics. The game's considered pretty snowbally, you don't keep meter between rounds, you can be chipped out, blocking for a long time builds a status that makes you take more damage.

It does, I'll spoiler it from here onTheir world does not really exist, Lime, Fox, Ti, Cafe, the professor herself, they were all created by Kokonoe during the events of Chronophantasma's climax and Central Fiction's climax right up to Kokonoe being deleted by Es, She created this little world as her final hope in case Ragna and Noel were not successful in stopping the doomsday, the goal was simple, find a possibility within the sea of possibility, basically the boundary and use that to reboot the world that would be fated to perish, The player character is never seen on screen but they have the ability Noel and Saya has, they are unaffected by the boundary or sea of possibility as they know it in game, Kokonoe's final instruction was for them to gain the power of an observer and use it to observe their little world, the player succeeds in this and observes their friends as real people rather than data including the doctor she's now a real person too in the end, despite being living flesh and blood now and Ragna saving everybody they opt to continue monitoring possibilities just because it's all they know how to do.
In short, this whole story is a side story to what's going on during Central Fiction's plot when Kokonoe wasn't on screen.

To add to thisonce you realize Kokonoe made these characters it shows she really does like Tager, Litchi, Roy and Kajun and wishes she could of worked along side them crunching numbers, it also shows despite how she acts she does like Jubei because the doctor is modeled to look like him, her tails even furl like Kokonoe's do as do her ears, the avatar character tho is a real mystery considering Kokonoe is behind this and the powers they ere made to have and how everybody comes to confide and rely on them odds are that this character is either based off Lambda 11, Noel Vermillion or Celica A Mercury, through I'm only thinking that because of their power, another possibility is she based the avatar character off Ragna

The last hint is that most if not all of the shards of possibility we see throughout the game involve Kokonoe, Tager, Litchi, Roy,Kajun or someone who works for Kokonoe that was there to witness the event
However only a select few memories have no involvement from those characters two of which stuck out
The memory of Takgamagahara firing on Ibukido's lab where Noel is "born" which we now know happened because Mu 12 at the time before she became Noel had nothing but scathing hatred of Yuuki Terumi for what he did to her when she was still apart of Saya and at that time he was trying to force a merger with her like what he does once he regains the susanno unit in the climax of central fiction, however 12 resisted this and instead forced Takemikazuchi to fire directly on her to commit suicide through it failed and the rest is history.
another is the scene where Noel, Tsubaki and Makoto become friends for the first time after Makoto's near death experience, none of Kokonoe's group knew about that nor did it have anything to do with them. so these two events must resonant with the player character in some way.or were read hearrings to make us believe these are legit just random memory data they came across and not at all painting a collective

The input reader in Strive is generally very forgiving, but I don't understand why it isn't more configurable. If I'm using the dash macro I NEVER want 44 to be backdash, and I NEVER want 66 to be dash. On a more extreme but related note, why does the down input exist outside of special inputs? Humour me, is there ever a situation where you want just 2 instead of 1 or 3 outside of a special input? If I'm blocking and switching between a high and low block to respond to my opponent's pressure there's never a situation where those 3f of just down where I got hit were intentional.

Nago's intended playstyle is to never let himself get into blood rage mode unless the play is enough to win the round. So instead of letting the blood meter reach 100%, you're supposed to back off and use his extended normals (which lower the blood meter on hit / block) to fight, until the blood meter is low enough to use special moves again. There's more nuance to it but yeah

the idea is good but it's really annoying how obviously and intentionally restrained it is
you can tell what the designers wanted to do and how they only got 70% of the way there because they don't feel like they are allowed to use certain design features, but still do all the other aspects of the design in the same way they would have if they were allowed
I-No is a great example of this, her design is pretty good in a vacuum, the ass cape and bigger hat are cool additions that work well with her movements, but also it's really obvious that at some point in her design process they went "Hey wait a second someone reign this shit in, don't forget the new target audience" and now her win pose has no reason to exist

Really? I've seen a few videos that go over the surface level of both +R and Xrd and their characters so I'm surprised you didn't find anything.
Though if you are looking for something in depth explaining how the systems interact and how they make the game so great, I also haven't found something like that. You really just have to take a leap of faith into the game, read dustloop, and then have the conclusion in your head. People don't really go around talking up a game unless it's in comparison to another, which can give a lacking or twisted view of what makes it so good.

Honestly, this is probably the #1 reason fighting games is no longer my main genre. In the pre-online days, you'd either play with someone you knew, or crowd around a cabinet with a group—but online matchmaking has really diminished the importance of the former and utterly destroyed the latter. If you want that "big group" atmosphere online, you're better off with a 10+ player game. Fighting games have tried to emulate this party feeling with various lobby systems, but they all fall short and they barely see any use in most games anyways.
So you're essentially wandering a digital desert where you never meet more than one person at a time. Why do that when other genres let you crash a virtual party?

i don't know about fix, but one idea i had was limiting her rekka. So after the 2nd hit she's locked into one of the 4 finishers. For example, Instead of infinite resets, like S1>S2>S1>K1>S1 etc.
It's Now S1>K1>P2(finish),
S1>P1> K2(finish),
S1>S2> P2(finish).
Keeping the dash cancel on S2, or with meter, so she can still reset, but it will be more obvious to counter against.
S1>S2> DC> S1 >H Etc.

my only suggestion from this would be to keep item toss super at its strive speed. it looks like you made it slower like older games, item toss super is genuinely a complete waste of meter in them due to how slow it is and how you can get actual complete combinations of dogshit (3-4 food items and other useless pull combos)

i didn't change the speed. but my bbscript file for faust is pretty old, so if they changed the throw speed recently then that's why it looks slower. i did change item toss to be only 1 item limit again. Because he's more rushdown, and has item storage that he didn't have in the older games, so he doesn't need item spam to carry him anymore. I thought it'll give his item super more of a purpose too. He can still do item super, ex item throw, and item store if an item is out, and some items let him throw again early.

the way every item plays with each other is a very core part of strive faust that I would be sad to lose it, it makes item combos a lot more fun and gives way more room for ingenuity in playing around items. and I think inherently he has enough stops in place from keeping item trains from becoming overbearing (weight, donut, trumpet, banana all force him to stop what he's doing or move around). I actually quite conceptually like item lockout with spit and eat being ways around it so I wouldn't be too sad if they did that but that's something I would more want in the next game. though faust has been one of the core balance issue characters so I am betting on a rework in the cards for 2.0
item batting and directional influence with spit are awesome ways to give him way more depth since launch. unfortunately he is still raw dick
they seemed to be scared shitless of the character and item trains are probably apart of that. I love old faust too but it would be sad to me to remove what makes strive faust unique in favor of making him more like older games. I would be down too if they made items a lot stronger. buff/remove the horrendous ones, nerf mini faust and meteors, and then add some really crazy team of 3 ones to still keep the insanity. I love +r faust but his design suffers from items being something that you don't have to interact with as much. they just do things for you including automatically winning neutral. since xrd they've really tried to make items that are wild, unique, and can be detrimental to faust so I would want the insane team of 3 ones. balanced more of course, liquid jail is insane
I do love giving him back his reverse gatlings though new gatlings would absolutely help him if 2.0 introduces them

It's not cope. There's so much bullshit going around about how FGs aren't popular because of irrelevant aesthetic reasons, poor tutorials or lack of single player modes. And while fixing those things would attract SOME players it wouldn't be nearly enough to see the type of revival these people are claiming it would bring.
It literally all comes down to how easy is it to learn the base level concepts from the very beginning, and for most casuals that wall just isn't worth climbing over no matter how hard they dumb down the game. The very concept of it is off putting to them. It's got nothing to do with the quality of the actual game because the average casual bounces right off of it from the very start.
I've seen it time and time again even with casuals who are happy to lose every single game of CS, Deadlock or even fucking Chess. Even the simplest of FGs take more than two sentences to describe how to play at a functional level. That's all it takes for these people to drop it.

The issue about fighting games has always been that it's a 1v1 PVP experience with a clear definite winner and loser. Most people who play video games do not like losing and that is unfortunately a huge part of the learning experience to go from casual to decent and even when you become decent you will be destroyed by the good players until you learn and practice even more. It's a nonstop grind to the top with several plateaus where it will feel like you are not improving no matter how much time you are putting into the game (usually due to inefficient methods of learning/using training mode).
For most casuals they do not see any appeal in a game that you need to spend 100 hours in just to get on the same level as your average netplay yellow square who gets bullied by anyone remotely decent at the games. Fighting game market responded by dumbing down games so they lowered the skill ceiling and made rounds more swing-y with much more high risk high reward RPS situations so that even casuals can get lucky and win if they happen to guess right. Since these games are aimed towards people who don't put more than 50 hours into fighting games you end up with dead playerbases where all the casuals were destined to quit regardless of how much they were appealed to anyways while the hardcore players leave dissatisfied with the lack of player expression that comes with higher skill ceiling games.

it looked neat but it was also really obvious it was going to be broken in half as soon as people started playing it for real even outside the infinites that are presumably fixed. You can't just throw a freeform anime combo system into a game like that without any kind of hitstun or gravity scaling to limit it.
